the firstborn ､
פֶּ֤טֶר
pe·ṭer
כָּל־
kāl-
רֶ֙חֶם֙
re·ḥem
the womb
בִּבְנֵ֣י
biḇ·nê
､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל
yiś·rā·’êl,
of Israel ､
בָּאָדָ֖ם
bā·’ā·ḏām
[both] of man
– וּבַבְּהֵמָ֑ה
ū·ḇab·bə·hê·māh;
and beast –
לִ֖י
lî
is Mine
. הֽוּא׃

מִבֵּ֣ית

out of the house
– עֲבָדִ֔ים

of bondage –
כִּ֚י

בְּחֹ֣זֶק
bə·ḥō·zeq
יָ֔ד
yāḏ,
of hand
הוֹצִ֧יא
hō·w·ṣî
יְהֹוָ֛ה
Yah·weh
. אֶתְכֶ֖ם

Of this [place]

of the Canaanite ､
､ וְהַחִתִּ֨י

and the Hittite ､
､ וְהָאֱמֹרִ֜י
wə·hā·’ĕ·mō·rî
and the Amorite ､
､ וְהַחִוִּ֣י
wə·ha·ḥiw·wî
and the Hivite ､
､ וְהַיְבוּסִ֗י
wə·hay·ḇū·sî,
and the Jebusite ､
אֲשֶׁ֨ר
’ă·šer
נִשְׁבַּ֤ע

לַאֲבֹתֶ֙יךָ֙
la·’ă·ḇō·ṯe·ḵā
לָ֣תֶת
lā·ṯeṯ
to give
､ לָ֔ךְ

אֶ֛רֶץ

זָבַ֥ת

flowing with
חָלָ֖ב
ḥā·lāḇ
､ וּדְבָ֑שׁ

and honey ､
וְעָבַדְתָּ֛
wə·‘ā·ḇaḏ·tā
אֶת־

-
הָעֲבֹדָ֥ה

הַזֹּ֖את

בַּחֹ֥דֶשׁ

וְהִגַּדְתָּ֣

לְבִנְךָ֔
lə·ḇin·ḵā,
בַּיּ֥וֹם
bay·yō·wm
in day
､ הַה֖וּא
ha·hū
that ､
לֵאמֹ֑ר
lê·mōr;
בַּעֲב֣וּר
ba·‘ă·ḇūr
זֶ֗ה
zeh,
of this
עָשָׂ֤ה
‘ā·śāh
יְהוָה֙
Yah·weh
לִ֔י
lî,
for me
בְּצֵאתִ֖י

when I came up
. מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

And it shall be
לְךָ֨

to you
לְא֜וֹת

as a sign
עַל־
‘al-
on
､ יָדְךָ֗
yā·ḏə·ḵā,
וּלְזִכָּרוֹן֙
ū·lə·zik·kā·rō·wn
and as a memorial
בֵּ֣ין
bên
､ עֵינֶ֔יךָ
‘ê·ne·ḵā,
לְמַ֗עַן
lə·ma·‘an,
תִּהְיֶ֛ה
tih·yeh
may be
תּוֹרַ֥ת
tō·w·raṯ
יְהוָ֖ה
Yah·weh
– בְּפִ֑יךָ
bə·p̄î·ḵā;
in your mouth –
כִּ֚י

בְּיָ֣ד

with a hand
חֲזָקָ֔ה

הוֹצִֽאֲךָ֥

לְךָ֖

to you

and your fathers ､
וּנְתָנָ֖הּ

and gives it

וְהַעֲבַרְתָּ֥

כָל־

פֶּֽטֶר־

רֶ֖חֶם
re·ḥem
the womb
､ לַֽיהֹוָ֑ה
Yah·weh;
to Yahweh ､
וְכָל־
wə·ḵāl
פֶּ֣טֶר ׀
pe·ṭer
שֶׁ֣גֶר
še·ḡer
בְּהֵמָ֗ה
bə·hê·māh,
אֲשֶׁ֨ר
’ă·šer
יִהְיֶ֥ה
yih·yeh
､ לְךָ֛

you ､
הַזְּכָרִ֖ים
haz·zə·ḵā·rîm
the males
. לַיהוָֽה׃
Yah·weh.
[shall be] Yahweh .

But every

חֲמֹר֙
ḥă·mōr
of a donkey
תִּפְדֶּ֣ה
tip̄·deh
– בְשֶׂ֔ה
ḇə·śeh,
with a lamb –
וְאִם־
wə·’im-
and if
לֹ֥א
lō
not
､ תִפְדֶּ֖ה
ṯip̄·deh
you will redeem [it] ､
– וַעֲרַפְתּ֑וֹ
wa·‘ă·rap̄·tōw;
וְכֹ֨ל
wə·ḵōl
and all
בְּכ֥וֹר
bə·ḵō·wr
אָדָ֛ם
’ā·ḏām
of man
בְּבָנֶ֖יךָ
bə·ḇā·ne·ḵā
. תִּפְדֶּֽה׃

So it shall be

in time to come ､
､ לֵאמֹ֣ר

saying ､
מַה־
mah-
؟ זֹּ֑את
zōṯ;
[is] this ؟
וְאָמַרְתָּ֣
wə·’ā·mar·tā
､ אֵלָ֔יו
’ê·lāw,
to him ､
בְּחֹ֣זֶק
bə·ḥō·zeq
יָ֗ד
yāḏ,
of hand
הוֹצִיאָ֧נוּ
hō·w·ṣî·’ā·nū
יְהוָ֛ה
Yah·weh
מִמִּצְרַ֖יִם

מִבֵּ֥ית

out of the house
. עֲבָדִֽים׃

about letting us go ､
וַיַּהֲרֹ֨ג

יְהֹוָ֤ה

בְּכוֹר֙

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ

in the land
､ מִצְרַ֔יִם

and as frontlets
בֵּ֣ין

– עֵינֶ֑יךָ

. אִתְּכֶֽם׃

מִסֻּכֹּ֑ת
mis·suk·kōṯ;
וַיַּחֲנ֣וּ
way·ya·ḥă·nū
and camped
､ בְאֵתָ֔ם
ḇə·’ê·ṯām,
in Etham ､
בִּקְצֵ֖ה
biq·ṣêh
at the edge
. הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃
ham·miḏ·bār.
of the wilderness .

הֹלֵךְ֩

לִפְנֵיהֶ֨ם

יוֹמָ֜ם

by day
בְּעַמּ֤וּד

in a pillar
､ עָנָן֙
‘ā·nān
of cloud ､
לַנְחֹתָ֣ם
lan·ḥō·ṯām
to lead
– הַדֶּ֔רֶךְ
had·de·reḵ,
the way –
וְלַ֛יְלָה

and by night
בְּעַמּ֥וּד
bə·‘am·mūḏ
in a pillar
､ אֵ֖שׁ
’êš
of fire ､
לְהָאִ֣יר

לָהֶ֑ם

to them
