and said
､ אֵלָיו֙
’ê·lāw
to him ､
､ ק֣וּם ׀

come ､
עֲשֵׂה־
‘ă·śêh-
לָ֣נוּ
lā·nū
us
､ אֱלֹהִ֗ים
’ĕ·lō·hîm,
gods ､
אֲשֶׁ֤ר
’ă·šer
יֵֽלְכוּ֙
yê·lə·ḵū
. לְפָנֵ֔ינוּ

before us .
כִּי־

Moses ､
הָאִ֗ישׁ

the man
אֲשֶׁ֤ר

הֶֽעֱלָ֙נוּ֙

brought us up
מֵאֶ֣רֶץ
mê·’e·reṣ
out of the land
､ מִצְרַ֔יִם
miṣ·ra·yim,
of Egypt ､

not
יָדַ֖עְנוּ
yā·ḏa‘·nū
we do know
מֶה־
meh-
הָ֥יָה
hā·yāh
. לֽוֹ׃

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

And said
אֲלֵהֶם֙
’ă·lê·hem
to them
､ אַהֲרֹ֔ן
’a·hă·rōn,
Aaron ､
פָּֽרְקוּ֙

נִזְמֵ֣י
niz·mê
הַזָּהָ֔ב
haz·zā·hāḇ,
the golden
אֲשֶׁר֙
’ă·šer
בְּאָזְנֵ֣י
bə·’ā·zə·nê
in the ears
､ נְשֵׁיכֶ֔ם
nə·šê·ḵem,
of your wives ､
､ בְּנֵיכֶ֖ם
bə·nê·ḵem
､ וּבְנֹתֵיכֶ֑ם
ū·ḇə·nō·ṯê·ḵem;
and your daughters ､
וְהָבִ֖יאוּ
wə·hā·ḇî·’ū
and bring [them]
. אֵלָֽי׃
’ê·lāy.
to me .

וַיִּתְפָּֽרְקוּ֙
way·yiṯ·pā·rə·qū
כָּל־
kāl-
הָעָ֔ם
hā·‘ām,
the people
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
נִזְמֵ֥י
niz·mê
､ הַזָּהָ֖ב
haz·zā·hāḇ
the golden ､
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
､ בְּאָזְנֵיהֶ֑ם
bə·’ā·zə·nê·hem;
in their ears ､
וַיָּבִ֖יאוּ
way·yā·ḇî·’ū
אֶֽל־
’el-
to
. אַהֲרֹֽן׃
’a·hă·rōn.

וַיִּקַּ֣ח
way·yiq·qaḥ
And he received [the gold]
､ מִיָּדָ֗ם
mî·yā·ḏām,
וַיָּ֤צַר
way·yā·ṣar
and he fashioned
אֹתוֹ֙
’ō·ṯōw
it
､ בַּחֶ֔רֶט
ba·ḥe·reṭ,
with an engraving tool ､
וַֽיַּעֲשֵׂ֖הוּ
way·ya·‘ă·śê·hū
and made
עֵ֣גֶל
‘ê·ḡel
. מַסֵּכָ֑ה
mas·sê·ḵāh;
､ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ
way·yō·mə·rū,
And they said ､
אֵ֤לֶּה
’êl·leh
､ אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙
’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā
､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל
yiś·rā·’êl,
Israel ､
אֲשֶׁ֥ר
’ă·šer
הֶעֱל֖וּךָ
he·‘ĕ·lū·ḵā
מֵאֶ֥רֶץ
mê·’e·reṣ
out of the land
! מִצְרָֽיִם׃
miṣ·rā·yim.
of Egypt !

וַיַּ֣רְא
way·yar
so when saw [it]
､ אַהֲרֹ֔ן
’a·hă·rōn,
Aaron ､
וַיִּ֥בֶן
way·yi·ḇen
and he built
מִזְבֵּ֖חַ
miz·bê·aḥ
. לְפָנָ֑יו
lə·p̄ā·nāw;
before it .
וַיִּקְרָ֤א
way·yiq·rā
אַֽהֲרֹן֙
’a·hă·rōn
､ וַיֹּאמַ֔ר
way·yō·mar,
and said ､
חַ֥ג
ḥaḡ
לַיהוָ֖ה
Yah·weh
. מָחָֽר׃
mā·ḥār.
Tomorrow [is] .

וַיַּשְׁכִּ֙ימוּ֙
way·yaš·kî·mū
､ מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת
mim·mā·ḥo·rāṯ,
on the next day ､
וַיַּעֲל֣וּ
way·ya·‘ă·lū
､ עֹלֹ֔ת
‘ō·lōṯ,
וַיַּגִּ֖שׁוּ
way·yag·gi·šū
– שְׁלָמִ֑ים
šə·lā·mîm;
וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב
way·yê·šeḇ
and sat down
הָעָם֙
hā·‘ām
the people
לֶֽאֱכֹ֣ל
le·’ĕ·ḵōl
to eat
､ וְשָׁת֔וֹ
wə·šā·ṯōw,
and drink ､
וַיָּקֻ֖מוּ
way·yā·qu·mū
and rose up
. לְצַחֵֽק׃
lə·ṣa·ḥêq.

and indeed ､
עַם־

קְשֵׁה־

עֹ֖רֶף

. הֽוּא׃

it [is] .

וְעַתָּה֙

הַנִּ֣יחָה
han·nî·ḥāh
､ לִּ֔י

Me ､
וְיִֽחַר־
wə·yi·ḥar-
אַפִּ֥י
’ap·pî
､ בָהֶ֖ם
ḇā·hem
וַאֲכַלֵּ֑ם
wa·’ă·ḵal·lêm;
וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֥ה
wə·’e·‘ĕ·śeh
and I will make
אוֹתְךָ֖
’ō·wṯ·ḵā
of you
לְג֥וֹי
lə·ḡō·w
. גָּדֽוֹל׃

､ אֱלֹהָ֑יו

his God ､
､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

and said ､
לָמָ֤ה
lā·māh
､ יְהוָה֙
Yah·weh
Yahweh ､
יֶחֱרֶ֤ה
ye·ḥĕ·reh
אַפְּךָ֙
’ap·pə·ḵā
､ בְּעַמֶּ֔ךָ

with power

and with a hand
؟ חֲזָקָֽה׃

מִצְרַ֜יִם
miṣ·ra·yim
､ לֵאמֹ֗ר
lê·mōr,
and say ､
בְּרָעָ֤ה
bə·rā·‘āh
､ הֽוֹצִיאָם֙
hō·w·ṣî·’ām
לַהֲרֹ֤ג
la·hă·rōḡ
to kill
אֹתָם֙
’ō·ṯām
､ בֶּֽהָרִ֔ים
be·hā·rîm,
in the mountains ､
וּ֨לְכַלֹּתָ֔ם
ū·lə·ḵal·lō·ṯām,
and to consume them
מֵעַ֖ל
mê·‘al
פְּנֵ֣י
pə·nê
the face
؟ הָֽאֲדָמָ֑ה
hā·’ă·ḏā·māh;
of the earth ؟
שׁ֚וּב
ūḇ
and Turn
מֵחֲר֣וֹן
mê·ḥă·rō·wn
אַפֶּ֔ךָ
’ap·pe·ḵā,
וְהִנָּחֵ֥ם

and relent
עַל־

Isaac ､
､ וּלְיִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל

and Israel ､
､ עֲבָדֶ֗יךָ

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

נִשְׁבַּ֣עְתָּ

לָהֶם֮

בָּךְ֒

וַתְּדַבֵּ֣ר
wat·tə·ḏab·bêr
and said
､ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם
’ă·lê·hem,
to them ､
אַרְבֶּה֙
’ar·beh
I will multiply
אֶֽת־
’eṯ-
-
זַרְעֲכֶ֔ם
zar·‘ă·ḵem,
כְּכוֹכְבֵ֖י
kə·ḵō·wḵ·ḇê
as the stars
､ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם
haš·šā·mā·yim;
of heaven ､
וְכָל־
wə·ḵāl
and all
הָאָ֨רֶץ
hā·’ā·reṣ
הַזֹּ֜את
haz·zōṯ
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
אָמַ֗רְתִּי
’ā·mar·tî,
אֶתֵּן֙
’et·tên
of I give
､ לְזַרְעֲכֶ֔ם
lə·zar·‘ă·ḵem,
וְנָחֲל֖וּ

and they shall inherit [it]
. לְעֹלָֽם׃

the harm

He said
לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת

He would do

לֻחֹ֥ת
lu·ḥōṯ
הָעֵדֻ֖ת
hā·‘ê·ḏuṯ
of the Testimony [were]
. בְּיָד֑וֹ
bə·yā·ḏōw;
in his hand .
לֻחֹ֗ת
lu·ḥōṯ,
כְּתֻבִים֙
kə·ṯu·ḇîm
מִשְּׁנֵ֣י
miš·šə·nê
on two
– עֶבְרֵיהֶ֔ם
‘eḇ·rê·hem,
of their sides –
מִזֶּ֥ה
miz·zeh
on this [side]
וּמִזֶּ֖ה
ū·miz·zeh
and on this [side]
הֵ֥ם
hêm
. כְּתֻבִֽים׃
kə·ṯu·ḇîm.

וְהַ֨לֻּחֹ֔ת
wə·hal·lu·ḥōṯ,
And the tablets
מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה
ma·‘ă·śêh
the work
､ אֱלֹהִ֖ים
’ĕ·lō·hîm
of God ､
הֵ֑מָּה
hêm·māh;
וְהַמִּכְתָּ֗ב
wə·ham·miḵ·tāḇ,
and the writing
מִכְתַּ֤ב
miḵ·taḇ
､ אֱלֹהִים֙
’ĕ·lō·hîm
of God ､
ה֔וּא
hū,
חָר֖וּת
ḥā·rūṯ
עַל־
‘al-
on
. הַלֻּחֹֽת׃

as they shouted ､
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙

and he said
אֶל־

to
､ מֹשֶׁ֔ה

Moses ､
ק֥וֹל

[There is] a noise
מִלְחָמָ֖ה
mil·ḥā·māh
of war
. בַּֽמַּחֲנֶה׃‪‬
bam·ma·ḥă·neh
in the camp .

､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

But he said ､
אֵ֥ין
’ên
[it is] not
קוֹל֙

the noise
עֲנ֣וֹת
‘ă·nō·wṯ
of the shout
､ גְּבוּרָ֔ה
gə·ḇū·rāh,
of victory ､
וְאֵ֥ין
wə·’ên
and [it is] not
ק֖וֹל
qō·wl
the noise
עֲנ֣וֹת
‘ă·nō·wṯ
of the cry
– חֲלוּשָׁ֑ה
ḥă·lū·šāh;
of defeat –
ק֣וֹל
qō·wl
[But] the sound
עַנּ֔וֹת
‘an·nō·wṯ,
אָנֹכִ֖י
’ā·nō·ḵî
I
. שֹׁמֵֽעַ׃

ham·ma·ḥă·neh,
the camp ､
וַיַּ֥רְא
way·yar
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
､ הָעֵ֖גֶל
hā·‘ê·ḡel
the calf ､
– וּמְחֹלֹ֑ת
ū·mə·ḥō·lōṯ;
and [and] the dancing –
וַיִּֽחַר־
way·yi·ḥar-
אַ֣ף
’ap̄
– מֹשֶׁ֗ה
mō·šeh,
Moses' –
וַיַּשְׁלֵ֤ךְ
way·yaš·lêḵ
and he cast
[מידו]
mî·yā·ḏōw
out of
(מִיָּדָיו֙)
mî·yā·ḏāw
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
､ הַלֻּחֹ֔ת
hal·lu·ḥōṯ,
the tablets ､
וַיְשַׁבֵּ֥ר
way·šab·bêr
and broke
אֹתָ֖ם
’ō·ṯām
תַּ֥חַת
ta·ḥaṯ
at the foot
. הָהָֽר׃
hā·hār.
of the mountain .

וַיִּקַּ֞ח
way·yiq·qaḥ
And he took
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
הָעֵ֨גֶל
hā·‘ê·ḡel
the calf
אֲשֶׁ֤ר
’ă·šer
､ עָשׂוּ֙
‘ā·śū
וַיִּשְׂרֹ֣ף
way·yiś·rōp̄
and burned [it]
､ בָּאֵ֔שׁ
bā·’êš,
in the fire ､
וַיִּטְחַ֖ן
way·yiṭ·ḥan
and ground [it]
עַ֣ד
‘aḏ
to
אֲשֶׁר־
’ă·šer-
as
､ דָּ֑ק
dāq;
powder ､
וַיִּ֙זֶר֙
way·yi·zer
and he scattered [it]
עַל־
‘al-
פְּנֵ֣י
pə·nê
the face
､ הַמַּ֔יִם
ham·ma·yim,
the water ､
וַיַּ֖שְׁקְ
way·yašq
and made drink [it]
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
בְּנֵ֥י
bə·nê
the sons
. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
yiś·rā·’êl.
of Israel .

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

And said
מֹשֶׁה֙

Aaron ､

עָשָׂ֥ה

לְךָ֖

to you

､ הַזֶּ֑ה

this ､
כִּֽי־

הֵבֵ֥אתָ

a sin

the anger
. אֲדֹנִ֑י

of my lord .
אַתָּה֙
’at·tāh
יָדַ֣עְתָּ

אֶת־
’eṯ-

､ הָעָ֔ם
hā·‘ām,
the people ､
כִּ֥י
kî
בְרָ֖ע
ḇə·rā‘
on evil
. הֽוּא׃
hū.
it [is set] .

וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ

､ לִ֔י
lî,
to me ､
עֲשֵׂה־
‘ă·śêh-
לָ֣נוּ
lā·nū
us
､ אֱלֹהִ֔ים

gods ､
אֲשֶׁ֥ר

יֵלְכ֖וּ

– לְפָנֵ֑ינוּ

before us –
כִּי־

[as for]

Moses ､

And I said
לָהֶם֙

to them
לְמִ֣י

､ זָהָ֔ב

[has any] gold ､
. הִתְפָּרָ֖קוּ
hiṯ·pā·rā·qū
let them break [it] off .
וַיִּתְּנוּ־
way·yit·tə·nū-
So they gave [it]
､ לִ֑י
lî;
to me ､
וָאַשְׁלִכֵ֣הוּ
wā·’aš·li·ḵê·hū
and I cast it
､ בָאֵ֔שׁ
ḇā·’êš,
into the fire ､
וַיֵּצֵ֖א
way·yê·ṣê
and came out
הָעֵ֥גֶל
hā·‘ê·ḡel
. הַזֶּֽה׃
haz·zeh.

וַיַּ֤רְא
way·yar
And when saw
מֹשֶׁה֙
mō·šeh
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
הָעָ֔ם
hā·‘ām,
the people
כִּ֥י
kî
פָרֻ֖עַ
p̄ā·ru·a‘
ה֑וּא
hū;
כִּֽי־
kî-
פְרָעֹ֣ה
p̄ə·rā·‘ōh
､ אַהֲרֹ֔ן
’a·hă·rōn,
Aaron ､
לְשִׁמְצָ֖ה
lə·šim·ṣāh

､ הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה
ham·ma·ḥă·neh,
of the camp ､
､ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר
way·yō·mer
and said ､
מִ֥י
mî
who [is]
לַיהוָ֖ה
Yah·weh
؟ אֵלָ֑י
’ê·lāy;
[come] to me ؟
וַיֵּאָסְפ֥וּ
way·yê·’ā·sə·p̄ū
אֵלָ֖יו
’ê·lāw
to him
כָּל־
kāl-
בְּנֵ֥י
bə·nê
the sons
. לֵוִֽי׃

And he said
､ לָהֶ֗ם

אֱלֹהֵ֣י
’ĕ·lō·hê
､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

of Israel ､
שִׂ֥ימוּ

אִישׁ־
’îš-
חַרְבּ֖וֹ
ḥar·bōw
עַל־
‘al-
on
､ יְרֵכ֑וֹ
yə·rê·ḵōw;
his side ､
עִבְר֨וּ
‘iḇ·rū
go in
וָשׁ֜וּבוּ
wā·šū·ḇū
and out
מִשַּׁ֤עַר
miš·ša·‘ar
לָשַׁ֙עַר֙
lā·ša·‘ar
､ בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה
bam·ma·ḥă·neh,
וְהִרְג֧וּ
wə·hir·ḡū
and let kill
אִֽישׁ־
’îš-
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
､ אָחִ֛יו
’ā·ḥîw
וְאִ֥ישׁ
wə·’îš
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
､ רֵעֵ֖הוּ
rê·‘ê·hū
וְאִ֥ישׁ

. קְרֹבֽוֹ׃

כִּדְבַ֣ר
kiḏ·ḇar
– מֹשֶׁ֑ה
mō·šeh;
of Moses –
וַיִּפֹּ֤ל
way·yip·pōl
and fell
מִן־
min-
of
הָעָם֙
hā·‘ām
the people
בַּיּ֣וֹם
bay·yō·wm
הַה֔וּא
ha·hū,
כִּשְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת
kiš·lō·šeṯ
אַלְפֵ֖י
’al·p̄ê
. אִֽישׁ׃

And said
､ מֹשֶׁ֗ה

Moses ､
מִלְא֨וּ
mil·’ū
יֶדְכֶ֤ם

הַיּוֹם֙
hay·yō·wm
לַֽיהוָ֔ה
Yah·weh,
כִּ֛י
kî
אִ֥ישׁ
’îš
בִּבְנ֖וֹ
biḇ·nōw
וּבְאָחִ֑יו
ū·ḇə·’ā·ḥîw;
וְלָתֵ֧ת
wə·lā·ṯêṯ
עֲלֵיכֶ֛ם
‘ă·lê·ḵem
on you
הַיּ֖וֹם
hay·yō·wm
. בְּרָכָֽה׃
bə·rā·ḵāh.

וַיְהִי֙

And it came to pass
､ מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת
mim·mā·ḥo·rāṯ,
on the next day ､
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר
way·yō·mer
מֹשֶׁה֙
mō·šeh
אֶל־
’el-
to
､ הָעָ֔ם
hā·‘ām,
the people ､
אַתֶּ֥ם
’at·tem
חֲטָאתֶ֖ם
ḥă·ṭā·ṯem
חֲטָאָ֣ה
ḥă·ṭā·’āh
a sin
– גְדֹלָ֑ה
ḡə·ḏō·lāh;
great –
וְעַתָּה֙
wə·‘at·tāh
so now
אֶֽעֱלֶ֣ה
’e·‘ĕ·leh
I will go up
אֶל־
’el-
to
– יְהוָ֔ה
Yah·weh,
Yahweh –
אוּלַ֥י
’ū·lay
אֲכַפְּרָ֖ה
’ă·ḵap·pə·rāh
בְּעַ֥ד
bə·‘aḏ
. חַטַּאתְכֶֽם׃
ḥaṭ·ṭaṯ·ḵem.

וַיָּ֧שָׁב
way·yā·šāḇ
מֹשֶׁ֛ה
mō·šeh
אֶל־
’el-
to
､ יְהוָ֖ה
Yah·weh
Yahweh ､
､ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר
way·yō·mar;
and said ､
､ אָ֣נָּ֗א
’ān·nā,
Oh ､
חָטָ֞א
ḥā·ṭā
הָעָ֤ם
hā·‘ām
הַזֶּה֙
haz·zeh
חֲטָאָ֣ה
ḥă·ṭā·’āh
a sin
､ גְדֹלָ֔ה
ḡə·ḏō·lāh,
great ､
וַיַּֽעֲשׂ֥וּ
way·ya·‘ă·śū
לָהֶ֖ם
lā·hem
אֱלֹהֵ֥י
’ĕ·lō·hê
a god
. זָהָֽב׃
zā·hāḇ.
of gold .

､ וְעַתָּ֖ה
wə·‘at·tāh
And yet now ､
אִם־
’im-
if
תִּשָּׂ֣א
tiś·śā
– חַטָּאתָ֑ם
ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯām;
וְאִם־
wə·’im-
but if
אַ֕יִן
’a·yin
not
מְחֵ֣נִי
mə·ḥê·nî
blot me
､ נָ֔א
nā,
I pray ､
מִֽסִּפְרְךָ֖
mis·sip̄·rə·ḵā
אֲשֶׁ֥ר
’ă·šer
. כָּתָֽבְתָּ׃
kā·ṯā·ḇə·tā.

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר
way·yō·mer
And said
יְהוָ֖ה
Yah·weh
אֶל־
’el-
to
､ מֹשֶׁ֑ה
mō·šeh;
Moses ､
מִ֚י
mî
who [is he]
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
､ חָֽטָא־
ḥā·ṭā-
לִ֔י
lî,
אֶמְחֶ֖נּוּ
’em·ḥen·nū
I will him blot
. מִסִּפְרִֽי׃
mis·sip̄·rî.

וְעַתָּ֞ה
wə·‘at·tāh
､ לֵ֣ךְ ׀
lêḵ
go ､
נְחֵ֣ה
nə·ḥêh
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
הָעָ֗ם
hā·‘ām,
the people
אֶ֤ל
’el
to [the place]
אֲשֶׁר־
’ă·šer-
דִּבַּ֙רְתִּי֙
dib·bar·tî
. לָ֔ךְ
lāḵ,
to you .
､ הִנֵּ֥ה
hin·nêh
Behold ､
מַלְאָכִ֖י
mal·’ā·ḵî
יֵלֵ֣ךְ
yê·lêḵ
לְפָנֶ֑יךָ
lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā;
וּבְי֣וֹם
ū·ḇə·yō·wm
and nevertheless in the day when
､ פָּקְדִ֔י
pā·qə·ḏî,
וּפָקַדְתִּ֥י
ū·p̄ā·qaḏ·tî
and I will visit punishment
עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם
‘ă·lê·hem
. חַטָּאתָֽם׃
ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯām.

וַיִּגֹּ֥ף
way·yig·gōp̄
יְהוָ֖ה
Yah·weh
אֶת־

､ הָעָ֑ם
hā·‘ām;
the people ､
עַ֚ל
‘al
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
עָשׂ֣וּ

､ הָעֵ֔גֶל
hā·‘ê·ḡel,
with the calf ､
אֲשֶׁ֥ר
’ă·šer
עָשָׂ֖ה

. אַהֲרֹֽן׃
