וְאָמַרְתָּ֣

and say

､ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם

’ă·lê·hem,

to them ､

כִּ֤י

kî

תָבֹ֙אוּ֙

ṯā·ḇō·’ū

אֶל־

’el-

הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the land

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

אֲנִ֖י

’ă·nî

I

נֹתֵ֣ן

nō·ṯên

､ לָכֶ֑ם

lā·ḵem;

you ､

וְשָׁבְתָ֣ה

wə·šā·ḇə·ṯāh

then shall keep

הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the land

שַׁבָּ֖ת

šab·bāṯ

. לַיהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

שֵׁ֤שׁ

שָׁנִים֙

šā·nîm

תִּזְרַ֣ע

tiz·ra‘

､ שָׂדֶ֔ךָ

śā·ḏe·ḵā,

וְשֵׁ֥שׁ

wə·šêš

and six

שָׁנִ֖ים

šā·nîm

תִּזְמֹ֣ר

tiz·mōr

you shall prune

､ כַּרְמֶ֑ךָ

kar·me·ḵā;

your vineyard ､

וְאָסַפְתָּ֖

wə·’ā·sap̄·tā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. תְּבוּאָתָֽהּ׃

tə·ḇū·’ā·ṯāh.

וּבַשָּׁנָ֣ה

ū·ḇaš·šā·nāh

But in the year

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗ת

haš·šə·ḇî·‘iṯ,

שַׁבַּ֤ת

šab·baṯ

שַׁבָּתוֹן֙

šab·bā·ṯō·wn

יִהְיֶ֣ה

yih·yeh

､ לָאָ֔רֶץ

lā·’ā·reṣ,

for the land ､

שַׁבָּ֖ת

šab·bāṯ

– לַיהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

to Yahweh –

שָֽׂדְךָ֙

śā·ḏə·ḵā

לֹ֣א

lō

､ תִזְרָ֔ע

ṯiz·rā‘,

You shall sow ､

וְכַרְמְךָ֖

wə·ḵar·mə·ḵā

and your vineyard

לֹ֥א

lō

. תִזְמֹֽר׃

סְפִ֤יחַ

What grows of its own accord

קְצִֽירְךָ֙

qə·ṣî·rə·ḵā

of your harvest

לֹ֣א

not

､ תִקְצ֔וֹר

ṯiq·ṣō·wr,

you shall reap ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

עִנְּבֵ֥י

‘in·nə·ḇê

נְזִירֶ֖ךָ

nə·zî·re·ḵā

of your untended vine

לֹ֣א

lō

– תִבְצֹ֑ר

ṯiḇ·ṣōr;

שְׁנַ֥ת

šə·naṯ

שַׁבָּת֖וֹן

šab·bā·ṯō·wn

יִהְיֶ֥ה

yih·yeh

[for] it is

. לָאָֽרֶץ׃

lā·’ā·reṣ.

for the land .

וְ֠הָיְתָה

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

And shall be

שַׁבַּ֨ת

šab·baṯ

the sabbath [produce]

הָאָ֤רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

of the land

לָכֶם֙

lā·ḵem

– לְאָכְלָ֔ה

lə·’āḵ·lāh

food –

לְךָ֖

lə·ḵā

､ וּלְעַבְדְּךָ֣

ū·lə·‘aḇ·də·ḵā

and your male ､

､ וְלַאֲמָתֶ֑ךָ

wə·la·’ă·mā·ṯe·ḵā;

and maidservants ､

､ וְלִשְׂכִֽירְךָ֙

wə·liś·ḵî·rə·ḵā

and your hired man ､

וּלְתוֹשָׁ֣בְךָ֔

ū·lə·ṯō·wō·šā·ḇə·ḵā,

and the stranger

הַגָּרִ֖ים

hag·gā·rîm

. עִמָּֽךְ׃

‘im·māḵ.

with you .

､ וְלִ֨בְהֶמְתְּךָ֔

wə·liḇ·hem·tə·ḵā,

For your livestock ､

וְלַֽחַיָּ֖ה

wə·la·ḥay·yāh

and the beasts

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

– בְּאַרְצֶ֑ךָ

bə·’ar·ṣe·ḵā;

in your land –

תִּהְיֶ֥ה

tih·yeh

כָל־

ḵāl

תְּבוּאָתָ֖הּ

tə·ḇū·’ā·ṯāh

. לֶאֱכֹֽל׃

וְסָפַרְתָּ֣

And you shall count

לְךָ֗

שֶׁ֚בַע

שַׁבְּתֹ֣ת

שָׁנִ֔ים

šā·nîm,

שֶׁ֥בַע

še·ḇa‘

שָׁנִ֖ים

שֶׁ֣בַע

– פְּעָמִ֑ים

pə·‘ā·mîm;

וְהָי֣וּ

wə·hā·yū

and shall be

לְךָ֗

lə·ḵā,

to you

יְמֵי֙

yə·mê

the time

שֶׁ֚בַע

ḇa‘

שַׁבְּתֹ֣ת

šab·bə·ṯōṯ

הַשָּׁנִ֔ים

haš·šā·nîm,

of the years

תֵּ֥שַׁע

tê·ša‘

וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים

wə·’ar·bā·‘îm

. שָׁנָֽה׃

šā·nāh.

וְהַֽעֲבַרְתָּ֞

wə·ha·‘ă·ḇar·tā

And you shall cause to sound

שׁוֹפַ֤ר

šō·w·p̄ar

תְּרוּעָה֙

tə·rū·‘āh

of the Jubilee

בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ

ba·ḥō·ḏeš

on the

הַשְּׁבִעִ֔י

haš·šə·ḇi·‘î,

בֶּעָשׂ֖וֹר

be·‘ā·śō·wr

. לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš;

of the month .

בְּיוֹם֙

bə·yō·wm

On Day

הַכִּפֻּרִ֔ים

hak·kip·pu·rîm,

of the Atonement

תַּעֲבִ֥ירוּ

ta·‘ă·ḇî·rū

you shall make to sound

שׁוֹפָ֖ר

šō·w·p̄ār

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

. אַרְצְכֶֽם׃

’ar·ṣə·ḵem.

וְקִדַּשְׁתֶּ֗ם

wə·qid·daš·tem,

And you shall consecrate

אֵ֣ת

’êṯ

-

､ שְׁנַ֤ת

šə·naṯ

year ､

הַחֲמִשִּׁים֙

ha·ḥă·miš·šîm

､ שָׁנָ֔ה

šā·nāh,

year ､

וּקְרָאתֶ֥ם

ū·qə·rā·ṯem

דְּר֛וֹר

də·rō·wr

בָּאָ֖רֶץ

bā·’ā·reṣ

throughout [all] the land

לְכָל־

lə·ḵāl

to all

. יֹשְׁבֶ֑יהָ

yō·šə·ḇe·hā;

its inhabitants .

יוֹבֵ֥ל

yō·w·ḇêl

הִוא֙

hî

it

תִּהְיֶ֣ה

､ לָכֶ֔ם

lā·ḵem,

וְשַׁבְתֶּ֗ם

wə·šaḇ·tem,

and shall return

אִ֚ישׁ

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ אֲחֻזָּת֔וֹ

’ă·ḥuz·zā·ṯōw,

his possession ､

וְאִ֥ישׁ

wə·’îš

and each of you

אֶל־

’el-

to

מִשְׁפַּחְתּ֖וֹ

miš·paḥ·tōw

. תָּשֻֽׁבוּ׃

tā·šu·ḇū.

יוֹבֵ֣ל

הִ֗וא

הַחֲמִשִּׁ֥ים

סְפִיחֶ֔יהָ

sə·p̄î·ḥe·hā,

what grows of its own accord in it

וְלֹ֥א

תִבְצְר֖וּ

ṯiḇ·ṣə·rū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. נְזִרֶֽיהָ׃

nə·zi·re·hā.

[the grapes] of your untended vine .

[is] the Jubilee

Return of Property

his possession .

תִמְכְּר֤וּ

מִמְכָּר֙

､ לַעֲמִיתֶ֔ךָ

la·‘ă·mî·ṯe·ḵā,

to your neighbor ､

א֥וֹ

קָנֹ֖ה

מִיַּ֣ד

mî·yaḏ

､ עֲמִיתֶ֑ךָ

‘ă·mî·ṯe·ḵā;

of your neighbor ､

אַל־

’al-

תּוֹנ֖וּ

you shall oppress

אִ֥ישׁ

אֶת־

. אָחִֽיו׃

בְּמִסְפַּ֤ר

the Jubilee ､

תַּרְבֶּה֙

you shall increase

הַשָּׁנִ֔ים

of the years

you shall diminish

､ מִקְנָת֑וֹ

[according] to the number [of the years]

you shall oppress

וְיָרֵ֖אתָ

but you shall fear

. מֵֽאֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ

The Blessing of Obedience

וַעֲשִׂיתֶם֙

wa·‘ă·śî·ṯem

So you shall observe

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ חֻקֹּתַ֔י

ḥuq·qō·ṯay,

My statutes ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

מִשְׁפָּטַ֥י

miš·pā·ṭay

､ תִּשְׁמְר֖וּ

tiš·mə·rū

keep ､

וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֣ם

wa·‘ă·śî·ṯem

– אֹתָ֑ם

’ō·ṯām;

them –

וִֽישַׁבְתֶּ֥ם

wî·šaḇ·tem

and you will dwell

עַל־

‘al-

in

הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

the land

. לָבֶֽטַח׃

lā·ḇe·ṭaḥ.

וְנָתְנָ֤ה

wə·nā·ṯə·nāh

And will yield

הָאָ֙רֶץ֙

hā·’ā·reṣ

the land

､ פִּרְיָ֔הּ

pir·yāh,

וַאֲכַלְתֶּ֖ם

wa·’ă·ḵal·tem

and you will eat

､ לָשֹׂ֑בַע

lā·śō·ḇa‘;

וִֽישַׁבְתֶּ֥ם

wî·šaḇ·tem

לָבֶ֖טַח

lā·ḇe·ṭaḥ

. עָלֶֽיהָ׃

‘ā·le·hā.

וְכִ֣י

wə·ḵî

And if

､ תֹאמְר֔וּ

ṯō·mə·rū,

מַה־

mah-

נֹּאכַ֤֖ל‪‬

nō·ḵal

בַּשָּׁנָ֣ה

baš·šā·nāh

in the year

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֑ת

haš·šə·ḇî·‘iṯ;

､ הֵ֚ן

hên

לֹ֣א

not

､ נִזְרָ֔ע

niz·rā‘,

we shall sow ､

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

נֶאֱסֹ֖ף

ne·’ĕ·sōp̄

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

؟ תְּבוּאָתֵֽנוּ׃

tə·ḇū·’ā·ṯê·nū.

וְצִוִּ֤יתִי

wə·ṣiw·wî·ṯî

and I will command

אֶת־

’eṯ-

בִּרְכָתִי֙

bir·ḵā·ṯî

לָכֶ֔ם

lā·ḵem,

on you

､ בַּשָּׁנָ֖ה

baš·šā·nāh

in the year ､

הַשִּׁשִּׁ֑ית

haš·šiš·šîṯ;

וְעָשָׂת֙

wə·‘ā·śāṯ

and it will bring forth enough

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַתְּבוּאָ֔ה

hat·tə·ḇū·’āh,

לִשְׁלֹ֖שׁ

liš·lōš

. הַשָּׁנִֽים׃

haš·šā·nîm.

וּזְרַעְתֶּ֗ם

ū·zə·ra‘·tem,

And you shall sow

אֵ֚ת

’êṯ

-

הַשָּׁנָ֣ה

haš·šā·nāh

in the year

､ הַשְּׁמִינִ֔ת

haš·šə·mî·niṯ,

וַאֲכַלְתֶּ֖ם

wa·’ă·ḵal·tem

and eat

מִן־

min-

of

הַתְּבוּאָ֣ה

hat·tə·ḇū·’āh

יָשָׁ֑ן

yā·šān;

עַ֣ד ׀

‘aḏ

הַשָּׁנָ֣ה

haš·šā·nāh

the year

– הַתְּשִׁיעִ֗ת

hat·tə·šî·‘iṯ,

עַד־

‘aḏ-

בּוֹא֙

bō·w

､ תְּב֣וּאָתָ֔הּ

tə·ḇū·’ā·ṯāh,

its produce ､

תֹּאכְל֖וּ

tō·ḵə·lū

. יָשָֽׁן׃

yā·šān.

[of] the old [harvest] .

The Law of Redemption

וְהָאָ֗רֶץ

wə·hā·’ā·reṣ,

And the land

לֹ֤א

lō

not

תִמָּכֵר֙

ṯim·mā·ḵêr

､ לִצְמִתֻ֔ת

liṣ·mi·ṯuṯ,

permanently ､

כִּי־

kî-

לִ֖י

lî

[is] Mine

､ הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

the land ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

גֵרִ֧ים

ḡê·rîm

[are] strangers

וְתוֹשָׁבִ֛ים

wə·ṯō·wō·šā·ḇîm

אַתֶּ֖ם

’at·tem

. עִמָּדִֽי׃

‘im·mā·ḏî.

with Me .

וּבְכֹ֖ל

ū·ḇə·ḵōl

And in all

אֶ֣רֶץ

’e·reṣ

the land

､ אֲחֻזַּתְכֶ֑ם

’ă·ḥuz·zaṯ·ḵem;

of your possession ､

גְּאֻלָּ֖ה

gə·’ul·lāh

תִּתְּנ֥וּ

tit·tə·nū

you shall grant

. לָאָֽרֶץ׃

lā·’ā·reṣ.

of the land .

יָמ֣וּךְ

､ אָחִ֔יךָ

’ā·ḥî·ḵā,

one of your brothers ､

וּמָכַ֖ר

ū·mā·ḵar

and has sold [some]

､ מֵאֲחֻזָּת֑וֹ

mê·’ă·ḥuz·zā·ṯōw;

of his possession ､

וּבָ֤א

ū·ḇā

and if comes

､ גֹֽאֲלוֹ֙

ḡō·’ă·lōw

to redeem it ､

הַקָּרֹ֣ב

haq·qā·rōḇ

､ אֵלָ֔יו

’ê·lāw,

his ､

וְגָאַ֕ל

wə·ḡā·’al

then he may redeem

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

מִמְכַּ֥ר

mim·kar

. אָחִֽיו׃

’ā·ḥîw.

וְאִ֕ישׁ

wə·’îš

Or the man

כִּ֛י

kî

if

לֹ֥א

lō

no

יִֽהְיֶה־

yih·yeh-

לּ֖וֹ

lōw

it

､ גֹּאֵ֑ל

gō·’êl;

one to redeem ､

וְהִשִּׂ֣יגָה

wə·hiś·śî·ḡāh

but

יָד֔וֹ

yā·ḏōw,

וּמָצָ֖א

ū·mā·ṣā

and

כְּדֵ֥י

kə·ḏê

he becomes able

､ גְאֻלָּתֽוֹ׃

ḡə·’ul·lā·ṯōw.

to redeem it ､

וְחִשַּׁב֙

wə·ḥiš·šaḇ

then let him count

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

שְׁנֵ֣י

šə·nê

the years since

מִמְכָּר֔וֹ

mim·kā·rōw,

וְהֵשִׁיב֙

wə·hê·šîḇ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הָ֣עֹדֵ֔ף

hā·‘ō·ḏêp̄,

לָאִ֖ישׁ

lā·’îš

to the man

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

מָֽכַר־

mā·ḵar-

､ ל֑וֹ

lōw;

it ､

וְשָׁ֖ב

wə·šāḇ

that he may return

. לַאֲחֻזָּתֽוֹ׃

la·’ă·ḥuz·zā·ṯōw.

to his possession .

וְאִ֨ם

wə·’im

But if

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

מָֽצְאָ֜ה

mā·ṣə·’āh

יָד֗וֹ

yā·ḏōw,

he

דֵּי֮

dê

הָשִׁ֣יב

hā·šîḇ

to have [it] restored

､ לוֹ֒

lōw

to himself ､

וְהָיָ֣ה

wə·hā·yāh

then shall remain

מִמְכָּר֗וֹ

mim·kā·rōw,

בְּיַד֙

bə·yaḏ

in the hand

הַקֹּנֶ֣ה

haq·qō·neh

of him who bought

אֹת֔וֹ

’ō·ṯōw,

it

עַ֖ד

‘aḏ

שְׁנַ֣ת

šə·naṯ

the Year

– הַיּוֹבֵ֑ל

hay·yō·w·ḇêl;

of Jubilee –

וְיָצָא֙

wə·yā·ṣā

and it shall be released

､ בַּיֹּבֵ֔ל

bay·yō·ḇêl,

in the Jubilee ､

וְשָׁ֖ב

wə·šāḇ

and he shall return

. לַאֲחֻזָּתֽוֹ׃

la·’ă·ḥuz·zā·ṯōw.

to his possession .

וְאִ֗ישׁ

wə·’îš,

And a man

כִּֽי־

kî-

if

יִמְכֹּ֤ר

yim·kōr

בֵּית־

bêṯ-

מוֹשַׁב֙

mō·wō·šaḇ

עִ֣יר

‘îr

חוֹמָ֔ה

ḥō·w·māh,

וְהָיְתָה֙

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

גְּאֻלָּת֔וֹ

gə·’ul·lā·ṯōw,

he may redeem it

עַד־

‘aḏ-

תֹּ֖ם

tōm

שְׁנַ֣ת

šə·naṯ

– מִמְכָּר֑וֹ

mim·kā·rōw;

after it is sold –

יָמִ֖ים

yā·mîm

[within a full] year

תִּהְיֶ֥ה

tih·yeh

it may be

. גְאֻלָּתֽוֹ׃

ḡə·’ul·lā·ṯōw.

וְאִ֣ם

wə·’im

But if

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

יִגָּאֵ֗ל

yig·gā·’êl,

עַד־

‘aḏ-

מְלֹ֣את

mə·lōṯ

לוֹ֮

lōw

of

שָׁנָ֣ה

šā·nāh

､ תְמִימָה֒

ṯə·mî·māh

full ､

וְ֠קָם

wə·qām

then shall belong

הַבַּ֨יִת

hab·ba·yiṯ

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

בָּעִ֜יר

bā·‘îr

in the city

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

[לא]

-

(ל֣וֹ)

חֹמָ֗ה

ḥō·māh,

לַצְּמִיתֻ֛ת

laṣ·ṣə·mî·ṯuṯ

לַקֹּנֶ֥ה

to him who bought

it

– לְדֹרֹתָ֑יו

lə·ḏō·rō·ṯāw;

shall be counted

– גְּאֻלָּה֙

gə·’ul·lāh

תִּהְיֶה־

לּ֔וֹ

lōw,

וּבַיֹּבֵ֖ל

and in the Jubilee

. יֵצֵֽא׃

they shall be released .

וְעָרֵי֙

wə·‘ā·rê

And nevertheless the cities

､ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם

hal·wî·yim,

of the Levites ､

בָּתֵּ֖י

bāt·tê

[and] the houses in

עָרֵ֣י

‘ā·rê

､ אֲחֻזָּתָ֑ם

’ă·ḥuz·zā·ṯām;

of their possession ､

גְּאֻלַּ֥ת

gə·’ul·laṯ

עוֹלָ֖ם

‘ō·w·lām

תִּהְיֶ֥ה

tih·yeh

. לַלְוִיִּֽם׃

lal·wî·yim.

וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר

wa·’ă·šer

And if a man

יִגְאַל֙

yiḡ·’al

purchases a house

מִן־

min-

､ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם

hal·wî·yim,

the Levites ､

וְיָצָ֧א

wə·yā·ṣā

then shall be released

､ מִמְכַּר־

mim·kar-

that was sold ､

בַּ֛יִת

ba·yiṯ

וְעִ֥יר

wə·‘îr

and in the city

､ אֲחֻזָּת֖וֹ

’ă·ḥuz·zā·ṯōw

of his possession ､

– בַּיֹּבֵ֑ל

in the Jubilee –

may be sold –

Redemption of the Poor

וְכִֽי־

wə·ḵî-

And if

יָמ֣וּךְ

yā·mūḵ

אָחִ֔יךָ

’ā·ḥî·ḵā,

one of your brothers

וּמָ֥טָה

ū·mā·ṭāh

and falls into poverty

､ יָד֖וֹ

yā·ḏōw

- ､

עִמָּ֑ךְ

‘im·māḵ;

וְהֶֽחֱזַ֣קְתָּ

wə·he·ḥĕ·zaq·tā

then you shall help

בּ֔וֹ

bōw,

､ גֵּ֧ר

gêr

like a stranger ､

– וְתוֹשָׁ֛ב

wə·ṯō·wō·šāḇ

or a sojourner –

וָחַ֖י

wā·ḥay

that he may live

. עִמָּֽךְ׃

‘im·māḵ.

with you .

אַל־

’al-

תִּקַּ֤ח

tiq·qaḥ

מֵֽאִתּוֹ֙

mê·’it·tōw

､ נֶ֣שֶׁךְ

ne·šeḵ

וְתַרְבִּ֔ית

wə·ṯar·bîṯ,

וְיָרֵ֖אתָ

wə·yā·rê·ṯā

but fear

､ מֵֽאֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ

mê·’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā;

וְחֵ֥י

wə·ḥê

אָחִ֖יךָ

. עִמָּֽךְ׃

with you .

the land

､ כְּנַ֔עַן

Redemption of Bondmen

וְכִֽי־

And if

יָמ֥וּךְ

אָחִ֛יךָ

’ā·ḥî·ḵā

[one of] your brothers

､ עִמָּ֖ךְ

‘im·māḵ

[who dwells] by you ､

וְנִמְכַּר־

wə·nim·kar-

and sells himself

לָ֑ךְ

lāḵ;

to you

לֹא־

lō-

not

תַעֲבֹ֥ד

ṯa·‘ă·ḇōḏ

you shall compel him

בּ֖וֹ

bōw

in him

עֲבֹ֥דַת

‘ă·ḇō·ḏaṯ

､ עָֽבֶד׃

‘ā·ḇeḏ.

a slave ､

כְּשָׂכִ֥יר

kə·śā·ḵîr

as a hired servant

כְּתוֹשָׁ֖ב

kə·ṯō·wō·šāḇ

[and] a sojourner

יִהְיֶ֣ה

yih·yeh

he shall be

– עִמָּ֑ךְ

‘im·māḵ;

with you –

עַד־

‘aḏ-

שְׁנַ֥ת

šə·naṯ

the Year

הַיֹּבֵ֖ל

hay·yō·ḇêl

יַעֲבֹ֥ד

ya·‘ă·ḇōḏ

[and] shall serve

. עִמָּֽךְ׃

‘im·māḵ.

וְיָצָא֙

wə·yā·ṣā

And [then] he shall depart

מֵֽעִמָּ֔ךְ

mê·‘im·māḵ,

ה֖וּא

he

וּבָנָ֣יו

ū·ḇā·nāw

and his children

､ עִמּ֑וֹ

‘im·mōw;

with him ､

וְשָׁב֙

wə·šāḇ

and shall return

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ מִשְׁפַּחְתּ֔וֹ

miš·paḥ·tōw,

his own family ､

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

and to

אֲחֻזַּ֥ת

’ă·ḥuz·zaṯ

אֲבֹתָ֖יו

’ă·ḇō·ṯāw

. יָשֽׁוּב׃

yā·šūḇ.

He shall return .

כִּֽי־

עֲבָדַ֣י

‘ă·ḇā·ḏay

[are] My servants

､ הֵ֔ם

hêm,

they ､

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

הוֹצֵ֥אתִי

מֵאֶ֣רֶץ

mê·’e·reṣ

out of the land

– מִצְרָ֑יִם

of Egypt –

they shall be sold

מִמְכֶּ֥רֶת

. מֵאֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃

､ וְעַבְדְּךָ֥

wə·‘aḇ·də·ḵā

And as for your male ､

､ וַאֲמָתְךָ֖

wa·’ă·mā·ṯə·ḵā

and female slaves ､

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

יִהְיוּ־

yih·yū-

– לָ֑ךְ

lāḵ;

you –

מֵאֵ֣ת

mê·’êṯ

הַגּוֹיִ֗ם

hag·gō·w·yim,

אֲשֶׁר֙

’ă·šer

סְבִיבֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם

sə·ḇî·ḇō·ṯê·ḵem,

מֵהֶ֥ם

mê·hem

תִּקְנ֖וּ

tiq·nū

עֶ֥בֶד

‘e·ḇeḏ

. וְאָמָֽה׃

wə·’ā·māh.

and female slaves .

וְ֠גַם

wə·ḡam

מִבְּנֵ֨י

mib·bə·nê

the sons

הַתּוֹשָׁבִ֜ים

hat·tō·wō·šā·ḇîm

of the strangers

הַגָּרִ֤ים

hag·gā·rîm

עִמָּכֶם֙

‘im·mā·ḵem

מֵהֶ֣ם

mê·hem

､ תִּקְנ֔וּ

tiq·nū,

you may buy ､

וּמִמִּשְׁפַּחְתָּם֙

ū·mim·miš·paḥ·tām

and their families

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

עִמָּכֶ֔ם

‘im·mā·ḵem,

with you

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

הוֹלִ֖ידוּ

hō·w·lî·ḏū

– בְּאַרְצְכֶ֑ם

bə·’ar·ṣə·ḵem;

in your land –

וְהָי֥וּ

wə·hā·yū

and they shall become

לָכֶ֖ם

lā·ḵem

. לַֽאֲחֻזָּֽה׃

la·’ă·ḥuz·zāh.

וְהִתְנַחֲלְתֶּ֨ם‪‬

wə·hiṯ·na·ḥăl·tem

And you may take as an inheritance

אֹתָ֜ם

’ō·ṯām

לִבְנֵיכֶ֤ם

liḇ·nê·ḵem

for your children

אַחֲרֵיכֶם֙

’a·ḥă·rê·ḵem

לָרֶ֣שֶׁת

lā·re·šeṯ

to inherit [them]

אֲחֻזָּ֔ה

’ă·ḥuz·zāh,

[as] a possession

– לְעֹלָ֖ם

lə·‘ō·lām

בָּהֶ֣ם

bā·hem

､ תַּעֲבֹ֑דוּ

ta·‘ă·ḇō·ḏū;

shall be your slaves ､

וּבְאַ֨חֵיכֶ֤ם

ū·ḇə·’a·ḥê·ḵem

but regarding your brothers

בְּנֵֽי־

the sons

､ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

of Israel ､

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

､ בְּאָחִ֔יו

over another ､

לֹא־

Redemption of Servants

וְכִ֣י

וְתוֹשָׁב֙

wə·ṯō·wō·šāḇ

､ עִמָּ֔ךְ

‘im·māḵ,

close to you ､

וּמָ֥ךְ

ū·māḵ

and becomes poor

אָחִ֖יךָ

’ā·ḥî·ḵā

[one of] your brothers [who dwells]

､ עִמּ֑וֹ

‘im·mōw;

by him ､

וְנִמְכַּ֗ר

wə·nim·kar,

and sells himself

לְגֵ֤ר

lə·ḡêr

to the stranger

תּוֹשָׁב֙

tō·wō·šāḇ

､ עִמָּ֔ךְ

‘im·māḵ,

close to you ､

א֥וֹ

’ōw

or

לְעֵ֖קֶר

lə·‘ê·qer

מִשְׁפַּ֥חַת

miš·pa·ḥaṯ

of the family

. גֵּֽר׃

he is sold ､

the right of redemption

– תִּהְיֶה־

the Year

and shall be

בְּמִסְפַּ֣ר

according to number

､ שָׁנִ֔ים

of the years ､

according to the time

of a hired servant

יִהְיֶ֥ה

[it [shall be]

. עִמּֽוֹ׃

the price of his redemption

מִכֶּ֖סֶף

with which he was bought .

וְאִם־

And if

מְעַ֞ט

mə·‘aṭ

but a few

נִשְׁאַ֧ר

niš·’ar

בַּשָּׁנִ֛ים

baš·šā·nîm

עַד־

‘aḏ-

שְׁנַ֥ת

šə·naṯ

the Year

､ הַיֹּבֵ֖ל

hay·yō·ḇêl

of Jubilee ､

וְחִשַּׁב־

wə·ḥiš·šaḇ-

then he shall reckon

כְּפִ֣י

[and] according to

､ שָׁנָ֔יו

he shall repay him

’eṯ-

the price of his redemption .

As a hired servant

He shall be
