And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

So Yahweh said to Satan, "From where have you come?" Then Satan answered Yahweh and said, "From roaming on the earth and from walking about in it."

Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

The carefree are thinking, "I have contempt for misfortune,' Those who are about to stumble deserve it.


“He loosens the bond of kings
And binds their loins with a loincloth.

They go feeling about in the dark without light, wandering without help like those overcome with wine.

Why do you speak falsely on God's behalf and speak deceitfully about him?

Sorrow and carefulness make him afraid, and compass him round about, like as it where a king with his host ready to the battle.

Know then that God has wronged me and overthrown me

That's why I'm terrified at his presence! When I think about it, I'm afraid of him.

Lo, wild asses in a wilderness, They have gone out about their work, Seeking early for prey, A mixture for himself -- food for young ones.

So that they go about naked without clothing, And being hungry they carry the sheaves.

And the man whose desire is for the wife of another is waiting for the evening, saying, No eye will see me; and he puts a cover on his face. And in the night the thief goes about;

because morning likewise is to them deep darkness; indeed, they know about [the] terrors of deep darkness.

See, these are only the outskirts of his ways; and how small is that which comes to our ears about him! But the thunder of his acts of power is outside all knowledge.

"I will teach you about God's hand; I will not conceal that [which is] with Shaddai.

Behold, ye stand in your own conceit, as though ye knew all things. Wherefore then do ye go about with such vain words,


“This [which I am about to explain] is the portion of a wicked man from God,
And the inheritance which tyrants and oppressors receive from the Almighty:

Terrors shall hedge him about as waters, the night a tempest stole him away.

He makes a deep mine far away from those living in the light of day; when they go about on the earth, they have no knowledge of those who are under them, who are hanging far from men, twisting from side to side on a cord.

There is no need to say anything about coral or crystal; and the value of wisdom is greater than that of pearls.

He goes about in company with evildoers, he goes along with wicked men.

If he deliver and grant pardon, who will judge or condemn? But if he hide away his countenance, who will turn it about again, whether it be to the people or to any man?

Remember that you should praise His work,
which people have sung about.

See how he scattered his lightning about him; he has covered the depths of the sea.

His thundering tells about him; [the] livestock also [tell] {concerning what rises}.

"About this also my heart trembles, and it leaps from its place.

And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.

"Who is this who keeps darkening my counsel without knowing what he's talking about?

"Have you been to the source of the sea and walked about in the recesses of the deepest ocean?

but seek their pasture about the mountains and follow the green grass.

Canst thou bind the yoke about him in thy furrows, to make him plow after thee in the valleys?

She is harsh with her young, as if they were not hers; she is unconcerned about the uselessness of her labor.

From thence may he behold his pray, and look far about with his eyes.

The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

Lay your hands on it; think about [the] battle--you will not do [it] again!
