For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast.
He has saved us and called us
with a holy calling,
not according to our works,
but according to His own purpose and grace,
which was given to us in Christ Jesus

But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love
for mankind appeared,
He saved us—
not by works of righteousness that we had done,
but according to His mercy,
through the washing of regeneration

For God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you showed for His name when you served the saints—and you continue to serve them. Now we want each of you to demonstrate the same diligence for the final realization of your hope, so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.

There is profit in all hard work,
but endless talk leads only to poverty.
So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.
Masters, supply your slaves with what is right and fair, since you know that you too have a Master in heaven.
