'Interest' in the Bible

Silently the man watched her with interest to determine if the Lord had made his journey successful or not.

“If you lend money to My people, to the poor person among you, you must not be like a moneylender to him; you must not charge him interest.

Do not profit or take interest from him, but fear your God and let your brother live among you.

You are not to lend him your silver with interest or sell him your food for profit.

“Do not charge your brother interest on money, food, or anything that can earn interest.

You may charge a foreigner interest, but you must not charge your brother interest, so that the Lord your God may bless you in everything you do in the land you are entering to possess.

He will let you have his wealth at interest, and will have no need of yours: he will be the head and you the tail.

Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant that you take an interest in a dead dog like me?”

For what is his interest in his home after his death, when the number of his months has been broken off?

Is it of any interest to the Ruler of all that you are upright? or is it of use to him that your ways are without sin?

who does not lend his money at interestor take a bribe against the innocent—the one who does these things will never be moved.

The arrogant utterly ridicule me,Yet I do not turn away from Your law.

Whoever increases his wealth through excessive interestcollects it for one who is kind to the poor.

The righteous man cares for the rights of the poor,But the wicked man has no interest in such knowledge.

a man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor, so that he lacks nothing of all that he desires, yet God has not given him the power or capacity to enjoy them [all those things which are gifts from God], but a stranger [in whom he has no interest succeeds him and] enjoys them. And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the creditor, so with the debtor; as with the taker of interest, so with the giver of interest to him.

"Why have we fasted,' they ask, "but you do not see? "Why have we humbled ourselves,' they ask, "but you take no notice?'" "Look! On your fast day you serve your own interest and oppress all your workers.

He doesn’t lend at interest or for profit but keeps his hand from wrongdoing and carries out true justice between men.

and lends at interest or for profit, will he live? He will not live! Since he has committed all these detestable acts, he will certainly die. His blood will be on him.

He keeps his hand from harming the poor, not taking interest or profit on a loan. He practices My ordinances and follows My statutes. Such a person will not die for his father’s iniquity. He will certainly live.

You shall say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “A city shedding blood in her midst, so that her time will come, and that makes idols, contrary to her interest, for defilement!

People who live in you accept bribes in order to shed blood. You take interest and profit on a loan and brutally extort your neighbors. You have forgotten Me.” This is the declaration of the Lord God.

Sow in righteousness in your own interest, reap in gracious love, break up your own unprepared ground; It is now time to inquire of the LORD, until he comes to pour out righteousness for you.
