'Understood' in the Bible
Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.
Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His parables, they understood that He was speaking about them.
When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
Right away Jesus understood in His spirit that they were thinking like this within themselves and said to them, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?
because they had not understood about the loaves. Instead, their hearts were hardened.
But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.
And they were seeking to seize Him, and yet they feared the people, for they understood that He spoke the parable against them. And so they left Him and went away.
And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.
And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
The scribes and the chief priests tried to lay hands on Him that very hour, and they feared the people; for they understood that He spoke this parable against them.
But He saw through their trickery and said to them,
They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.
(Now none of those present at the table understood why Jesus said this to Judas.
for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me.
For until now they had not understood the inspired teaching, that He must rise again from among the dead.
let it be known and clearly understood by all of you, and by all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you [demanded be] crucified [by the Romans and], whom God raised from the dead—in this name [that is, by the authority and power of Jesus] this man stands here before you in good health.
Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.
For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.
So let it be clearly known by you, brothers, that through Him forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you;
This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.
And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia;
Then Felix, who understood the facts concerning the Way more accurately, adjourned their hearing, saying, "When Lysias the commanding officer comes down, I will decide your case."
But I understood [that] he had done nothing deserving death himself, and [when] this man appealed to His Majesty the Emperor, I decided to send [him].
Therefore let it be known to you that [this message of] the salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they indeed will listen!”
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor?
None of the rulers of this world understood it, because if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
The one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is understood by no one.
For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes].
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face. Now I know in part [just in fragments], but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God].
It is similar for lifeless things that make a sound, like a flute or harp. Unless they make a distinction in the notes, how can what is played on the flute or harp be understood?
So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
as you have partially understood us—that we are your reason for pride, as you are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.
Therefore, since we know the fear of the Lord [and understand the importance of obedience and worship], we persuade people [to be reconciled to Him]. But we are plainly known to God [He knows everything about us]; and I hope that we are plainly known also in your consciences [your God-given discernment].
And recognizing the grace [that God had] bestowed on me, James and Cephas (Peter) and John, who were reputed to be pillars [of the Jerusalem church], gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, so that we could go to the Gentiles [with their blessing] and they to the circumcised (Jews).
Now, however, since you have come to know [the true] God [through personal experience], or rather to be known by God, how is it that you are turning back again to the weak and worthless elemental principles [of religions and philosophies], to which you want to be enslaved all over again?
which has come to you, just as in all the world also it is constantly bearing fruit and increasing, even as it has been doing in you also since the day you heard of it and understood the grace of God in truth;
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
No one who abides in Him [who remains united in fellowship with Him—deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin. No one who habitually sins has seen Him or known Him.
