Hosea 2:5-9

“For their mother has ^(A)played the harlot;
She who conceived them has acted shamefully.
For she said, ‘^(B)I will go after my lovers,
Who ^(C)give me my bread and my water,
My wool and my flax, my ^(D)oil and my drink.’

“Therefore, behold, I will ^(E)hedge up ^(a)her way with ^(F)thorns,
And I will build ^(b)a wall against her so that she cannot find her ^(G)paths.

“She will ^(H)pursue her lovers, but she will not overtake them;
And she will seek them, but will not find them.
Then she will say, ‘^(I)I will go back to my ^(J)first husband,
For it was ^(K)better for me then than now!’

“For she does ^(L)not know that it was ^(M)I who gave her the grain, the new wine and the oil,
And lavished on her silver and gold,
Which they ^(c)used for Baal.

And My new wine in its season.
I will also take away My wool and My flax
Given to cover her nakedness.
