²⁸ Joseph’s descendants by their clans from Manasseh and Ephraim:

the Machirite clan from Machir.
Machir fathered Gilead;
the Gileadite clan from Gilead.
³⁰ These were Gilead’s descendants:
the Iezerite clan from Iezer;
the Helekite clan from Helek;

Joshua 17:1

This was the allotment for the tribe of Manasseh as Joseph’s firstborn. Gilead and Bashan came to Machir, the firstborn of Manasseh and the father of Gilead, who was a man of war.
