､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

of Israel ､

וְקַ֣ח

wə·qaḥ

and get

מֵֽאִתָּ֡ם

mê·’it·tām

מַטֶּ֣ה

maṭ·ṭeh

､ מַטֶּה֩

maṭ·ṭeh

a rod ､

לְבֵ֨ית

lə·ḇêṯ

from each house

､ אָ֜ב

’āḇ

מֵאֵ֤ת

mê·’êṯ

-

כָּל־

kāl-

נְשִֽׂיאֵהֶם֙

nə·śî·’ê·hem

לְבֵ֣ית

lə·ḇêṯ

according to houses

אֲבֹתָ֔ם

’ă·ḇō·ṯām,

of their father

שְׁנֵ֥ים

šə·nêm

עָשָׂ֖ר

‘ā·śār

[and] ten

. מַטּ֑וֹת

maṭ·ṭō·wṯ;

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

שְׁמ֔וֹ

šə·mōw,

תִּכְתֹּ֖ב

tiḵ·tōḇ

עַל־

‘al-

on

. מַטֵּֽהוּ׃

maṭ·ṭê·hū.

וְאֵת֙

wə·’êṯ

And

שֵׁ֣ם

šêm

אַהֲרֹ֔ן

’a·hă·rōn,

תִּכְתֹּ֖ב

tiḵ·tōḇ

you shall write

עַל־

‘al-

on

מַטֵּ֣ה

maṭ·ṭêh

the rod

– לֵוִ֑י

lê·wî;

of Levi –

כִּ֚י

kî

for there shall be

מַטֶּ֣ה

maṭ·ṭeh

אֶחָ֔ד

’e·ḥāḏ,

לְרֹ֖אשׁ

lə·rōš

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

. אֲבוֹתָֽם׃

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām.

[each] father .

וְהִנַּחְתָּ֖ם

wə·hin·naḥ·tām

And you shall place them

בְּאֹ֣הֶל

bə·’ō·hel

in the tabernacle

מוֹעֵ֑ד

mō·w·‘êḏ;

לִפְנֵי֙

lip̄·nê

､ הָֽעֵד֔וּת

hā·‘ê·ḏūṯ,

the Testimony ､

אֲשֶׁ֛ר

’ă·šer

אִוָּעֵ֥ד

’iw·wā·‘êḏ

לָכֶ֖ם

lā·ḵem

with you

. שָֽׁמָּה׃

šām·māh.

､ וְהָיָ֗ה

wə·hā·yāh,

And it shall be ､

הָאִ֛ישׁ

hā·’îš

the man

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

､ אֶבְחַר־

’eḇ·ḥar-

I choose ､

בּ֖וֹ

bōw

in

､ מַטֵּ֣הוּ

maṭ·ṭê·hū

[that] the rod ､

. יִפְרָ֑ח

yip̄·rāḥ;

of will blossom .

וַהֲשִׁכֹּתִ֣י

wa·hă·šik·kō·ṯî

Thus I will rid

מֵֽעָלַ֗י

mê·‘ā·lay,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

תְּלֻנּוֹת֙

tə·lun·nō·wṯ

of the complaints

בְּנֵ֣י

bə·nê

of the sons

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

of Israel ､

אֲשֶׁ֛ר

’ă·šer

הֵ֥ם

hêm

מַלִּינִ֖ם

mal·lî·nim

. עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃

‘ă·lê·ḵem.

וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר

way·ḏab·bêr

מֹשֶׁ֜ה

אֶל־

’el-

to

בְּנֵ֣י

the sons

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

of Israel ､

וַיִּתְּנ֣וּ

way·yit·tə·nū

and gave

אֵלָ֣יו ׀

’ê·lāw

כָּֽל־

kāl-

נְשִֽׂיאֵיהֶ֡ם

nə·śî·’ê·hem

of their leaders

מַטֶּה֩

maṭ·ṭeh

､ לְנָשִׂ֨יא

lə·nā·śî

､ אֶחָ֜ד

’e·ḥāḏ

one ､

､ מַטֶּ֨ה

maṭ·ṭeh

לְנָשִׂ֤יא

lə·nā·śî

אֶחָד֙

’e·ḥāḏ

､ לְבֵ֣ית

lə·ḇêṯ

according to houses ､

אֲבֹתָ֔ם

’ă·ḇō·ṯām,

שְׁנֵ֥ים

šə·nêm

עָשָׂ֖ר

‘ā·śār

[and] ten

מַטּ֑וֹת

maṭ·ṭō·wṯ;

. וּמַטֵּ֥ה

ū·maṭ·ṭêh

and the rod .

אַהֲרֹ֖ן

’a·hă·rōn

בְּת֥וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

. מַטּוֹתָֽם׃

maṭ·ṭō·w·ṯām.

וַיַּנַּ֥ח

way·yan·naḥ

מֹשֶׁ֛ה

mō·šeh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַמַּטֹּ֖ת

ham·maṭ·ṭōṯ

the rods

לִפְנֵ֣י

lip̄·nê

יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

בְּאֹ֖הֶל

bə·’ō·hel

in the tabernacle

. הָעֵדֻֽת׃

hā·‘ê·ḏuṯ.

､ וַיְהִ֣י

way·hî

And it came to pass that ､

מִֽמָּחֳרָ֗ת

mim·mā·ḥo·rāṯ,

on the next day

וַיָּבֹ֤א

way·yā·ḇō

and went

מֹשֶׁה֙

mō·šeh

אֶל־

’el-

אֹ֣הֶל

’ō·hel

– הָעֵד֔וּת

hā·‘ê·ḏūṯ,

of witness –

､ וְהִנֵּ֛ה

wə·hin·nêh

and behold ､

､ פָּרַ֥ח

pā·raḥ

had sprouted ､

מַטֵּֽה־

maṭ·ṭêh-

the rod

אַהֲרֹ֖ן

’a·hă·rōn

לְבֵ֣ית

lə·ḇêṯ

of the house of

לֵוִ֑י

lê·wî;

וַיֹּ֤צֵֽא

way·yō·ṣê

､ פֶ֙רַח֙

p̄e·raḥ

buds ､

וַיָּ֣צֵֽץ

way·yā·ṣêṣ

and had produced

､ צִ֔יץ

ṣîṣ,

וַיִּגְמֹ֖ל

way·yiḡ·mōl

. שְׁקֵדִֽים׃

šə·qê·ḏîm.

וַיֹּצֵ֨א

way·yō·ṣê

And brought out

מֹשֶׁ֤ה

mō·šeh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כָּל־

kāl-

הַמַּטֹּת֙

ham·maṭ·ṭōṯ

the rods

מִלִּפְנֵ֣י

mil·lip̄·nê

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

אֶֽל־

’el-

to

כָּל־

kāl-

בְּנֵ֖י

bə·nê

the sons

– יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel –

､ וַיִּרְא֥וּ

way·yir·’ū

and they looked ､

וַיִּקְח֖וּ

way·yiq·ḥū

and took

אִ֥ישׁ

’îš

. מַטֵּֽהוּ׃

maṭ·ṭê·hū.

And said

הָשֵׁ֞ב

מַטֵּ֤ה

maṭ·ṭêh

אַהֲרֹן֙

לִפְנֵ֣י

lip̄·nê

､ הָעֵד֔וּת

hā·‘ê·ḏūṯ,

the Testimony ､

לְמִשְׁמֶ֥רֶת

lə·miš·me·reṯ

to be kept

לְא֖וֹת

lə·’ō·wṯ

as a sign

לִבְנֵי־

liḇ·nê-

– מֶ֑רִי

me·rî;

the rebels –

וּתְכַ֧ל

ū·ṯə·ḵal

that you may put away

תְּלוּנֹּתָ֛ם

tə·lūn·nō·ṯām

their complaints

מֵעָלַ֖י

mê·‘ā·lay

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and lest

. יָמֻֽתוּ׃

yā·mu·ṯū.

וַיַּ֖עַשׂ

way·ya·‘aś

מֹשֶׁ֑ה

mō·šeh;

כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר

ka·’ă·šer

צִוָּ֧ה

ṣiw·wāh

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

אֹת֖וֹ

’ō·ṯōw

כֵּ֥ן

. עָשָֽׂה׃

we die ､

we perish ､

כֻּלָּ֥נוּ

kul·lā·nū

. אָבָֽדְנוּ׃

’ā·ḇaḏ·nū.
