The Tongue's Answer is from the Lord

､ לְאָדָ֥ם

lə·’ā·ḏām

[belong] to man ､

מַֽעַרְכֵי־

ma·‘ar·ḵê-

the preparations

לֵ֑ב

lêḇ;

of the heart

וּ֝מֵיְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

but [is] from Yahweh

מַעֲנֵ֥ה

ma·‘ă·nêh

､ לָשֽׁוֹן׃

lā·šō·wn.

of the tongue ､

כָּֽל־

kāl-

דַּרְכֵי־

dar·ḵê-

the ways

אִ֭ישׁ

’îš

of a man

זַ֣ךְ

zaḵ

and [are] pure

– בְּעֵינָ֑יו

bə·‘ê·nāw;

in his own eyes –

וְתֹכֵ֖ן

wə·ṯō·ḵên

רוּח֣וֹת

rū·ḥō·wṯ

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

גֹּ֣ל

gōl

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

מַעֲשֶׂ֑יךָ

ma·‘ă·śe·ḵā;

וְ֝יִכֹּ֗נוּ

wə·yik·kō·nū,

and will be established

. מַחְשְׁבֹתֶֽיךָ׃

maḥ·šə·ḇō·ṯe·ḵā.

your thoughts .

כֹּ֤ל

פָּעַ֣ל

pā·‘al

יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

､ לַֽמַּעֲנֵ֑הוּ

lam·ma·‘ă·nê·hū;

for Himself ､

וְגַם־

wə·ḡam-

רָ֝שָׁ֗ע

rā·šā‘,

לְי֣וֹם

lə·yō·wm

. רָעָֽה׃

rā·‘āh.

of doom .

תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת

tō·w·‘ă·ḇaṯ

[is] an abomination to

– יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

כָּל־

kāl-

גְּבַהּ־

gə·ḇah-

לֵ֑ב

lêḇ;

יָ֥ד

yāḏ

[Though [they join]

､ לְ֝יָ֗ד

lə·yāḏ,

לֹ֣א

lō

. יִנָּקֶֽה׃

yin·nā·qeh.

will go unpunished .

בְּחֶ֣סֶד

bə·ḥe·seḏ

וֶ֭אֱמֶת

we·’ĕ·meṯ

– יְכֻפַּ֣ר

yə·ḵup·par

Atonement is provided for –

עָוֺ֑ן

‘ā·wōn;

וּבְיִרְאַ֥ת

ū·ḇə·yir·’aṯ

and by the fear

יְ֝הוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

ס֣וּר

sūr

. מֵרָֽע׃

mê·rā‘.

בִּרְצ֣וֹת

bir·ṣō·wṯ

､ יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

דַּרְכֵי־

dar·ḵê-

אִ֑ישׁ

’îš;

of a man

גַּם־

gam-

א֝וֹיְבָ֗יו

’ō·wy·ḇāw,

יַשְׁלִ֥ם

yaš·lim

He makes to be at peace

. אִתּֽוֹ׃

’it·tōw.

with him .

טוֹב־

ṭō·wḇ-

מְ֭עַט

mə·‘aṭ

בִּצְדָקָ֑ה

biṣ·ḏā·qāh;

with righteousness

מֵרֹ֥ב

mê·rōḇ

תְּ֝בוּא֗וֹת

tə·ḇū·’ō·wṯ,

בְּלֹ֣א

bə·lō

. מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

miš·pāṭ.

לֵ֣ב

lêḇ

אָ֭דָם

יְחַשֵּׁ֣ב

yə·ḥaš·šêḇ

､ דַּרְכּ֑וֹ

dar·kōw;

וַֽ֝יהוָ֗ה

. צַעֲדֽוֹ׃

ṣa·‘ă·ḏōw.

קֶ֤סֶם ׀

Divination [is]

עַֽל־

שִׂפְתֵי־

the lips

– מֶ֑לֶךְ

me·leḵ;

of the king –

. בְּ֝מִשְׁפָּ֗ט

לֹ֣א

lō

Not

יִמְעַל־

yim·‘al-

must transgress

. פִּֽיו׃

pîw.

פֶּ֤לֶס ׀

pe·les

וּמֹאזְנֵ֣י

ū·mō·zə·nê

and scales [are]

מִ֭שְׁפָּט

miš·pāṭ

– לַֽיהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

of Yahweh –

. מַ֝עֲשֵׂ֗הוּ

ma·‘ă·śê·hū,

[are] His work .

כָּל־

kāl-

אַבְנֵי־

’aḇ·nê-

the weights in

. כִֽיס׃

ḵîs.

the bag .

תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת

tō·w·‘ă·ḇaṯ

[it is] an abomination

מְ֭לָכִים

mə·lā·ḵîm

עֲשׂ֣וֹת

‘ă·śō·wṯ

– רֶ֑שַׁע

re·ša‘;

כִּ֥י

kî

בִ֝צְדָקָ֗ה

ḇiṣ·ḏā·qāh,

by righteousness

יִכּ֥וֹן

yik·kō·wn

. כִּסֵּֽא׃

kis·sê.

רְצ֣וֹן

rə·ṣō·wn

– מְ֭לָכִים

mə·lā·ḵîm

of kings –

שִׂפְתֵי־

śip̄·ṯê-

צֶ֑דֶק

ṣe·ḏeq;

וְדֹבֵ֖ר

wə·ḏō·ḇêr

and him who speaks [what is]

יְשָׁרִ֣ים

yə·šā·rîm

. יֶאֱהָֽב׃

ye·’ĕ·hāḇ.

חֲמַת־

ḥă·maṯ-

[is] the wrath

מֶ֥לֶךְ

me·leḵ

מַלְאֲכֵי־

mal·’ă·ḵê-

､ מָ֑וֶת

mā·weṯ;

of death ､

וְאִ֖ישׁ

wə·’îš

but a man

חָכָ֣ם

ḥā·ḵām

. יְכַפְּרֶֽנָּה׃

yə·ḵap·pə·ren·nāh.

will appease it .

בְּאוֹר־

bə·’ō·wr-

In the light

פְּנֵי־

pə·nê-

of the face

מֶ֥לֶךְ

me·leḵ

– חַיִּ֑ים

ḥay·yîm;

[is] life –

וּ֝רְצוֹנ֗וֹ

ū·rə·ṣō·w·nōw,

and his favor [is]

כְּעָ֣ב

kə·‘āḇ

. מַלְקֽוֹשׁ׃

mal·qō·wōš.

of the latter rain .

קְֽנֹה־

qə·nōh-

to get

חָכְמָ֗ה

ḥāḵ·māh

מַה־

mah-

טּ֥וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

מֵחָר֑וּץ

mê·ḥā·rūṣ;

וּקְנ֥וֹת

ū·qə·nō·wṯ

and to get

בִּ֝ינָ֗ה

bî·nāh,

נִבְחָ֥ר

niḇ·ḥār

rather to be chosen

. מִכָּֽסֶף׃

mik·kā·sep̄.

מְסִלַּ֣ת

mə·sil·laṯ

יְ֭שָׁרִים

yə·šā·rîm

of the upright

ס֣וּר

sūr

[is] to depart

– מֵרָ֑ע

mê·rā‘;

שֹׁמֵ֥ר

šō·mêr

נַ֝פְשׁ֗וֹ

nap̄·šōw,

נֹצֵ֥ר

nō·ṣêr

. דַּרְכּֽוֹ׃

dar·kōw.

לִפְנֵי־

lip̄·nê-

､ שֶׁ֥בֶר

še·ḇer

destruction ､

גָּא֑וֹן

gā·’ō·wn;

וְלִפְנֵ֥י

wə·lip̄·nê

כִ֝שָּׁל֗וֹן

ḵiš·šā·lō·wn,

גֹּ֣בַהּ

gō·ḇah

. רֽוּחַ׃

Better [to be]

the proud .

מַשְׂכִּ֣יל

maś·kîl

He who heeds wisely

עַל־

‘al-

דָּ֭בָר

dā·ḇār

the word

יִמְצָא־

yim·ṣā-

will find

､ ט֑וֹב

ṭō·wḇ;

good ､

וּבוֹטֵ֖חַ

ū·ḇō·w·ṭê·aḥ

and whoever trusts

､ בַּיהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

in Yahweh ､

. אַשְׁרָֽיו׃

’aš·rāw.

happy [is] he .

לַחֲכַם־

la·ḥă·ḵam-

The wise

לֵ֭ב

lêḇ

יִקָּרֵ֣א

yiq·qā·rê

will be called

､ נָב֑וֹן

nā·ḇō·wn;

וּמֶ֥תֶק

ū·me·ṯeq

שְׂ֝פָתַ֗יִם

p̄ā·ṯa·yim,

of the lips

יֹסִ֥יף

yō·sîp̄

. לֶֽקַח׃

le·qaḥ.

מְק֣וֹר

mə·qō·wr

חַ֭יִּים

ḥay·yîm

שֵׂ֣כֶל

śê·ḵel

Understanding [is]

בְּעָלָ֑יו

bə·‘ā·lāw;

to him who has it

וּמוּסַ֖ר

ū·mū·sar

but the correction

אֱוִלִ֣ים

’ĕ·wi·lîm

. אִוֶּֽלֶת׃

’iw·we·leṯ.

[is] folly .

לֵ֣ב

מָת֥וֹק

mā·ṯō·wq

､ לַ֝נֶּפֶשׁ

lan·ne·p̄eš

to the soul ､

וּמַרְפֵּ֥א

ū·mar·pê

. לָעָֽצֶם׃

lā·‘ā·ṣem.

to the bones .

יֵ֤שׁ

yêš

דֶּ֣רֶךְ

de·reḵ

יָ֭שָׁר

yā·šār

[that seems] right

לִפְנֵי־

lip̄·nê-

to

､ אִ֑ישׁ

’îš;

a man ､

וְ֝אַחֲרִיתָ֗הּ

wə·’a·ḥă·rî·ṯāh,

but its end [is]

דַּרְכֵי־

dar·ḵê-

the way

. מָֽוֶת׃

mā·weṯ.

of death .

נֶ֣פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš

עָ֭מֵל

‘ā·mêl

עָ֣מְלָה

‘ā·mə·lāh

לּ֑וֹ

lōw;

כִּֽי־

kî-

אָכַ֖ף

’ā·ḵap̄

עָלָ֣יו

‘ā·lāw

. פִּֽיהוּ׃

his [hungry] mouth .

אִ֣ישׁ

כֹּרֶ֣ה

– רָעָ֑ה

evil –

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and [it is] on

[שפתיו]

(שְׂ֝פָת֗וֹ)

כְּאֵ֣שׁ

kə·’êš

. צָרָֽבֶת׃

ṣā·rā·ḇeṯ.

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

תַּ֭הְפֻּכוֹת

tah·pu·ḵō·wṯ

יְשַׁלַּ֣ח

yə·šal·laḥ

､ מָד֑וֹן

mā·ḏō·wn;

וְ֝נִרְגָּ֗ן‪‬

wə·nir·gān,

and a whisperer

מַפְרִ֥יד

map̄·rîḏ

. אַלּֽוּף׃

’al·lūp̄.

the [best] of friends .

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

חָ֭מָס

ḥā·mās

יְפַתֶּ֣ה

yə·p̄at·teh

､ רֵעֵ֑הוּ

rê·‘ê·hū;

his neighbor ､

וְ֝הוֹלִיכ֗וֹ

wə·hō·w·lî·ḵōw,

בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ

bə·ḏe·reḵ

in a way

לֹא־

lō-

not

. טֽוֹב׃

ṭō·wḇ.

[that is] good .

עֹצֶ֣ה

‘ō·ṣeh

עֵ֭ינָיו

‘ê·nāw

לַחְשֹׁ֣ב

laḥ·šōḇ

– תַּהְפֻּכ֑וֹת

tah·pu·ḵō·wṯ;

perverse things –

קֹרֵ֥ץ

qō·rêṣ

שְׂ֝פָתָ֗יו

p̄ā·ṯāw,

כִּלָּ֥ה

kil·lāh

[and] brings about

. רָעָֽה׃

rā·‘āh.

עֲטֶ֣רֶת

‘ă·ṭe·reṯ

､ תִּפְאֶ֣רֶת

tip̄·’e·reṯ

of glory ､

שֵׂיבָ֑ה

śê·ḇāh;

the silver-haired [head is]

בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ

bə·ḏe·reḵ

in the way

צְ֝דָקָ֗ה

ṣə·ḏā·qāh,

of righteousness

. תִּמָּצֵֽא׃

tim·mā·ṣê.

[If] it is found .

ט֤וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

אֶ֣רֶךְ

’e·reḵ

[He who is] slow

אַ֭פַּיִם

’ap·pa·yim

– מִגִּבּ֑וֹר

mig·gib·bō·wr;

than the mighty –

וּמֹשֵׁ֥ל

ū·mō·šêl

and he who rules

בְּ֝רוּח֗וֹ

bə·rū·ḥōw,

מִלֹּכֵ֥ד

mil·lō·ḵêḏ

than he who takes

. עִֽיר׃

‘îr.

a city .

– בַּ֭חֵיק

ba·ḥêq

Into the lap –

יוּטַ֣ל

yū·ṭal

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַגּוֹרָ֑ל

hag·gō·w·rāl;

the lot

וּ֝מֵיְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

but from Yahweh

כָּל־

kāl-

. מִשְׁפָּטֽוֹ׃

miš·pā·ṭōw.

its decision [is] .
