'Put on' in the Bible
You are the light of the world. A town put on a hill may be seen by all.
“And whenever you are fasting, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they put on a sad and dismal face [like actors, discoloring their faces with ashes or dirt] so that their fasting may be seen by men. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, they [already] have their reward in full.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Which of you, though he took thought therefore, could put one cubit unto his stature?
Be not therefore careful, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we put on?
No one ever mends an old cloak with a patch of newly woven cloth. Otherwise, the patch put on would tear away some of the old, and a worse hole would be made.
and you will even be put on trial before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness to them and to the Gentiles.
Put on my yoke, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls,
And his head was put on a plate and given to the girl; and she took it to her mother.
And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
