Mark 3:13-19 - The Selection Of The Twelve Apostles

Mark 3:13-19

13 Then Jesus went up on a hillside and called to himself those whom he had decided on, and they approached him. 14 He appointed the Twelve, whom he called apostles, to accompany him, to be sent out to preach, 15 and to have the authority to drive out demons.

16 He appointed the Twelve: Simon (whom he named Peter), 17 Zebedee's sons James and his brother John (whom he named Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder), 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddeus, Simon the Cananaean, 19 and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

Luke 6:12-16

12 Now it was in those days that Jesus went to a mountain to pray, and he spent the whole night in prayer to God. 13 When daylight came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also called apostles:

14 Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, 15 Matthew, Thomas, James (the son of Alphaeus), Simon (who was called the Zealot), 16 Judas (the son of James), and Judas Iscariot (who became a traitor).
