There is a distinction preserved in the AV between these words. 'Fleshly' is that which belongs to the flesh, carnal, as Col 2:18 'fleshly mind,' as opposed to 'spiritually minded' (cf. Ro 8:6). 'Fleshy' is that which is made of flesh, tender, as 2Co 3:3 'written
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
