Field of heroes, a place near Gibeon, so named from a fatal duel-like combat, preceding a battle between the armies of David and Ish-bosheth, 2Sa 2:16.

Hel'kath-haz'zurim

Name, signifying, as in the margin, 'field of strong men,' given to the place where twelve men of Israel and twelve of Judah killed each other, which led to a very sore battle. 2Sa 2:16. Identified by some with Wady el Askar, 31 52' N, 35 11' E.

Hel'kath-haz'zurim

(field of rock), a smooth piece of ground, apparently close to the pool of Gibeon, where the combat took place between the two parties of Joab's men and Abner's men which ended in the death of the whole of the combatants, and brought on a general battle.
