The word kashaph is 'to use magical formulas or incantations,' 'to practise sorcery.' A witch was not suffered to live. Ex 22:18; De 18:10; 2Ki 9:22; 2Ch 33:6; Mic 5:12; Na 3:4. In 1Sa 15:23 the word is qesem, divination. In Ga 5:20 it is ?????????, sorcery. See DIVINATION.
