Now just before the feast of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour was come when he should leave this world to go to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, showed forth his love to the end.
In this was the love of God clearly shown toward us, by his sending his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.

For you have not received a spirit of slavery in order that you should once more be afraid; but you have received a spirit of adoption, in which we cry out, "My Father, my dear Father!" For his Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are children of God;read more.
and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ; but to share his glory, we must now be sharing his sufferings.
And because you are sons, God sent forth the spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, "Dear, dear Father!"
Because he willed, he gave us birth through the word of truth, so that we should be a kind of first-fruits among his creatures.
Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God; and every one that loves us a child of God.
Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God; and every one who loves the Father, loves him also who is the Father's Child.
