Then the Lord turned and looked straight at Peter, and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, "Before a rooster crows today, you will deny me three times."
As he was walking by the Sea of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon (called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen).
Andrew brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon, the son of John. You will be called Cephas" (which is translated Peter).
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and exclaimed, "Look, a true Israelite in whom there is no deceit!"
Nathanael asked him, "How do you know me?" Jesus replied, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."
Jesus said to him, "Because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these."
When Jesus saw him lying there and when he realized that the man had been disabled a long time already, he said to him, "Do you want to become well?"
So when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, "Woman, look, here is your son!"
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were bewildered and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
After looking around at them in anger, grieved by the hardness of their hearts, he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.
As Jesus looked at him, he felt love for him and said, "You lack one thing. Go, sell whatever you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
Then Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!"
Jesus looked at them and replied, "This is impossible for mere humans, but not for God; all things are possible for God."
After looking around at them all, he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." The man did so, and his hand was restored.
Then he looked up at his disciples and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God belongs to you.
Now when Jesus approached and saw the city, he wept over it,
Jesus turned around and saw them following and said to them, "What do you want?" So they said to him, "Rabbi" (which is translated Teacher), "where are you staying?"
Then Jesus, when he looked up and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, said to Philip, "Where can we buy bread so that these people may eat?"
When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain. After he sat down his disciples came to him.
So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
When Jesus had finished saying these things, he looked upward to heaven and said, "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, so that your Son may glorify you --
