But when they heard his answer, being convicted by their own conscience, they went out one by one, beginning at the elder, even to the last. And when a great multitude was gathered together, of those that came to Him out of every city, He spake a parable saying, A sower went out to sow his seed, and as he was sowing, some fell by the way-side, and was trodden down, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell upon stony ground, and as soon as it sprung up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. But some fell on good ground, and sprang up and yielded fruit an hundred-fold. And as He said these things He cried out, "He that hath ears to hear, let him hear." And his disciples asked Him, what might be the meaning of this parable. And He said, To you it is granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but I speak to others in parables, that in seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand. And Jesus having entred Jericho passed through the city, and behold, there was a man named Zaccheus, who was the chief publican, and very rich. And he sought to see Jesus who He was; but he could not for the croud; for he was little of stature.read more.
And he ran before and got up into a sycamore-tree that he might see Him; for He was to pass by that way. And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, Zaccheus, make haste and come down; for to-day I must abide at thy house. And he made haste and came down, and received Him with joy. And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He is gone to be guest with a wicked man. But Zaccheus stood up and said unto Jesus, Behold, Lord, the half of my substance I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any one wrongfully, I restore him fourfold. Then said Jesus, This day is salvation come to this house, for as much as he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

And one of the pharisees asked Him to eat with him: and He went into the pharisee's house, and sat down. And behold a woman in the city, that was a sinner, when she knew that He was at table in the pharisee's house, brought an alabaster-box of ointment, and stood at his feet behind Him, weeping, and washed his feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.read more.
But when the pharisee that invited Him saw it, he said within himself, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what sort of a woman this is that toucheth Him; for she is a notorious sinner. And Jesus said unto him, Simon, I have something to say to thee: (and he replied, Master, say on.) A certain creditor had two debtors, the one owed him five hundred denaries, and the other fifty: and they not being able to pay him, he freely forgave them both: tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? And Simon answered, I suppose he to whom he forgave most. And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged: and turning to the woman, He said to Simon, Dost thou see this woman? I came into thine house, and thou gavest me no water for my feet; but she has bathed my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me not the respect of a kiss; but this woman, ever since she came in, hath not ceased to kiss my feet. Thou didst not anoint my head with common oil, but she hath anointed even my feet with sweet ointment. Wherefore, I tell thee, her sins though many are forgiven, for she loved much: but he to whom little is forgiven, loveth but little. And He said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at table with Him, said within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? But He said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee, go in peace.

And as he was near to Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way-side begging. And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, Jesus of Nazareth is coming by.read more.
And he cried out, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have compassion on me. And they, that went before, rebuked him, that he might hold his peace, but he cried out the more, O Son of David, have pity on me. So Jesus stopt, and ordered him to be brought to Him: and when he was come near, He asked him, saying, What wouldst thou that I should do for thee? And he said, Lord, that I may recover my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

And the day after He went to a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with Him, and a great multitude besides: and as He came near to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carrying out to be buried, his mother's only son, and she was a widow: and many of the people of the city were with her. And when the Lord saw her, He was moved with compassion for her, and said to her, Do not weep.read more.
And He came up and touched the bier, (and the bearers stopped,) and He said, Young man, I say unto thee, arise. And the dead person sat up, and began to speak: and He delivered him to his mother.

There was in the days of Herod king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia; and his wife was of the family of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. And they were both righteous in the sight of God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. And they had no child, for Elisabeth was barren; and they were both far advanced in years.read more.
And it came to pass, while he was in the order of his course performing the priest's office before God, according to the custom of dividing the office of the priests, that it fell to his lot to burn incense, entring into the temple of the Lord: and all the people were praying without at the time of offering incense. And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right hand of the altar of incense. And when Zacharias saw him, he was startled and struck with fear: but the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias; for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John: and he shall be a joy and transport to thee, yea, many shall rejoice on account of his birth; for he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and he shall drink neither wine nor any other strong liquor; and he shall be filled with the holy Spirit even from his birth; and many of the children of Israel shall he convert unto the Lord their God. And he shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to prepare for the Lord a people well-disposed.

But for this end I obtained mercy, that in me a chief sinner Jesus Christ might display his long-suffering, for an example to those who should afterwards believe on Him to eternal life.
