At that time Jesus answered and said: I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight.

So the last shall be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few are chosen.

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole habitable earth, for a testimony to all nations, and then shall the end come.

For false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

And when they had derided him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

He replied: To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that when they see, they may not see, and when they hear, they may not understand.

All that the Father gives me, will come to me; and him that comes to me, I will by no means cast out.

as thou hast given him authority over all flesh, that he may give eternal life to all that thou hast given him.

in hope of eternal life, which God, who can not lie, promised be fore the times of the ages,

But he said to them: It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has reserved under his own control.

For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise men according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble call you; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world, that he may bring to shame the wise; and the weak things of the world has God chosen, that he may put to shame the strong; and the ignoble things of the world, and the things that are despised, has God chosen, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought things that are;read more.
that no flesh should glory in his presence.

but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, even that which had been hidden, which God predestined before the ages, for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for, had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory.

according as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him in love, having predestinated us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will,

by making known to us the mystery of his will according to his good purpose which he had before established in himself, for a dispensation at the fullness of the times, in order that he might bring together for himself all things in the Christ, both those which are in the heavens, and those which are on earth; in him in whom we have obtained our portion, having been predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

For we are his workman ship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God before prepared, that we should walk in them.

to the end that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known, through the church, to the principalities and authorities in the heavenly regions, according to the arrangement of the ages, which he established by Christ Jesus our Lord,

and have put on the new man, which is renewed for knowledge, ac cording to the image of him that created him;

be cause we know, brethren beloved of God, your election. For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in full assurance, as you know what sort of persons we were among you for your sakes.

But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God did, from the beginning, choose you to salvation, by sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth, "to which he called you by our gospel, in order that you might obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus be fore the times of the ages,

Of his own will, he begot us with the word of truth, in order that we might be, as it were, the first-fruits of his creatures.
