For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness.
Cometh this happiness then on the circumcision only, or on the uncircumcision also? For we say that faith was imputed to Abraham for righteousness.
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness: and he was called the friend of God.
And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith, which he had in uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all who believe in uncircumcision, that righteousness may be imputed to them also,
Therefore it is of faith, that it might be of grace, that the promise might be firm to all the seed; not only to that which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, (As it is written,
For the righteousness of God is revealed therein from faith to faith; as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
But that none is justified by the law in the sight of God, is evident; for the just shall live by faith.
Now the just shall live by faith; but if he draw back, my soul hath no pleasure in him.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is imputed to him for righteousness.
Even the righteousness of God, by the faith of Jesus Christ, to all and upon all that believe; for there is no difference:
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles who followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith:
that I may gain Christ, And be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:
But the righteousness which is by faith speaketh thus: Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven, (that is, to bring Christ down:)
For with the heart man believeth to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.
For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham or to his seed by the law, but by the righteousness of faith.
Nay, but by the law of faith. We conclude then, that a man is justified by faith, without the works of the law.
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ:
and not sinners of the Gentiles, Even we (knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ) have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law; because by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
I say, of his righteousness in this present time, that he might be just, and yet the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus.
(that is, to bring Christ again from the dead) But what saith he? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart; that is, the word of faith which we preach:
And the scripture foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, declared before the glad tidings to Abraham, In thee shall all the nations be blessed.
Wherefore the law was our school-master unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his houshold, by which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
