But I, brethren, could not address you as spiritual men, but as carnal men, as infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food; for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, even now you are not ready, for you are still carnal. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not carnal, and are you not walking like mere men?
"Food is for the stomach and the stomach for food"but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
And he said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of robbers.'"
for every one who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.
But he answered, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit, and they are life.
For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth and flattering words they deceive the hearts of the simple.
And in their greed they will exploit you with false words; from long ago their condemnation has not been idle, and their destruction has not been asleep.
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so;
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
