For I also myself am a man under power, and have soldiers under me: and I say to one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it." When Jesus heard that, he marveled, and said to them that followed him, "Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith: no, not in Israel.

Who is it, if he had a servant a plowing, or feeding cattle, that would say unto him when he were come from the field, 'Go quickly and sit down to meat.' And would not rather say to him, 'Dress wherewith I may sup, and gird up thyself and serve me, till I have eaten and drunk: and afterward, eat thou, and drink thou?' Doth he thank that servant because he did that which was commanded unto him? I think not.read more.
So likewise ye, when ye have done all those things which are commanded unto you, say, 'We are unprofitable servants. We have done that which was our duty to do.'"

Whosoever therefore resisteth power, resisteth the ordinance of God. And they that resist, shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not to be feared for good works but for evil. Wilt thou be without fear of the power? Do well then: and so shalt thou be praised of the same. For he is the minister of God, for thy wealth. But and if thou do evil, then fear: for he beareth not a sword for nought; but is the minister of God, to take vengeance on them that do evil.read more.
Wherefore ye must needs obey, not for fear of vengeance only: but also because of conscience. And even for this cause pay ye tribute. For they are God's ministers, serving for the same purpose. Give to every man therefore his duty: Tribute to whom tribute belongeth: Custom to whom custom is due: fear to whom fear belongeth: Honour to whom honour pertaineth.

Therefore as the congregation is in subjection to Christ, likewise let the wives be in subjection to their husbands in all things. Husbands: love your wives, even as Christ loved the congregation, and gave himself for it, to sanctify it, and cleansed it in the fountain of water through the word, to make it unto himself a glorious congregation without spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it should be holy and without blame.

Warn them, that they submit themselves to rule and power, to obey the officers, that they be ready unto all good works, that they speak evil of no man, that they be no fighters, but soft, showing all meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were in times past, unwise, disobedient, deceived, in danger to lusts, and to divers manners of voluptuousness, living in maliciousness and envy, full of hate, hating one another.

See that ye honour all men. Love brotherly fellowship, fear God, and honour the King. Servants obey your masters with all fear, not only if they be good and courteous: but also though they be froward.

Likewise, ye younger submit yourselves unto the elder. Submit yourselves every man, one to another. Knit yourselves together in lowliness of mind. For God resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble.
