'Back' in the Bible
She will pursue her lovers but not catch them;she will seek them but not find them.Then she will think,“I will go back to my former husband,for then it was better for me than now.”
Therefore, I will take back My grain in its timeand My new wine in its season;I will take away My wool and linen,which were to cover her nakedness.
However, in the future I will allure her; I will lead her back into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.
There I will give her vineyards back to herand make the Valley of Achorinto a gateway of hope.There she will respond as she didin the days of her youth,as in the day she came out of the land of Egypt.
So I bought her back for myself for fifteen pieces of silver and one and a half omers of barley.
Afterwards turned back have the sons of Israel, and sought Jehovah their God, and David their king, and have hastened unto Jehovah, and unto His goodness, in the latter end of the days.
For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
They give not up their habitual doings, To turn back unto their God, For a spirit of whoredoms is in their midst, And Jehovah they have not known.
"I will leave and go back to my place until they admit their offense and seek my face. When affliction comes to them, they will eagerly seek me."
'Come, and we turn back unto Jehovah, For He hath torn, and He doth heal us, He doth smite, and He bindeth us up.
Also, O Judah, appointed is a harvest to thee, In My turning back to the captivity of My people!
And humbled hath been the excellency of Israel to his face, And they have not turned back unto Jehovah their God, Nor have they sought Him for all this.
They turn back -- not to the Most High, They have been as a deceitful bow, Fall by sword do their princes, From the insolence of their tongue, This is their derision in the land of Egypt!
They offer me meat from the sacrifices of my offerings, and they eat from it, but the LORD does not accept them. He will now remember their transgression and pay them back for their sins; to Egypt they will return.
They do not abide in the land of Jehovah, And turned back hath Ephraim to Egypt, And in Asshur an unclean thing they eat.
They have corrupted themselves deeply, as did Gibeah in its day. Therefore God will remember their lawlessness, and he will pay them back for their sins.
And Ephraim is a trained cow, taking pleasure in crushing the grain; but I have put a yoke on her fair neck; I will put a horseman on the back of Ephraim; Judah will be working the plough, Jacob will be turning up the earth.
He turneth not back unto the land of Egypt, And Asshur -- he is his king, For they have refused to return.
I will not vent the full fury of My anger;I will not turn back to destroy Ephraim.For I am God and not man,the Holy One among you;I will not come in rage.
So then, come back to your God; keep mercy and right, and be waiting at all times on your God.
And I -- Jehovah thy God from the land of Egypt, Again do I turn thee back into tents, As in the days of the appointed time.
Ephraim hath provoked most bitterly, And his blood on himself he leaveth, And his reproach turn back to him doth his Lord!
Turn back, O Israel, unto Jehovah thy God, For thou hast stumbled by thine iniquity.
Take with you words, and come back to the Lord; say to him, Let there be forgiveness for all wrongdoing, so that we may take what is good, and give in payment the fruit of our lips.
I heal their backsliding, I love them freely, For turned back hath Mine anger from him.
They will come back and have rest in his shade; their life will be made new like the grain, and they will put out flowers like the vine; his name will be like the wine of Lebanon.
