'Governor's' in the Bible
At the festival the governor’s custom was to release to the crowd a prisoner they wanted.
Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into headquarters and gathered the whole company around Him.
And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
The soldiers led Jesus into the courtyard of the palace (that is, the governor's headquarters) and called out the whole guard.
They watched closely and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, so they could catch Him in what He said, to hand Him over to the governor’s rule and authority.
Then they took Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor’s headquarters. It was early morning. They did not enter the headquarters themselves; otherwise they would be defiled and unable to eat the Passover.
So Pilate went back into the governor's headquarters, summoned Jesus, and asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?"
and he went back into the governor's residence and said to Jesus, "Where do you come from?" But Jesus gave him no answer.
