'Headlong' in the Bible
He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.
He rushes headlong at Himwith his thick, studded shields.
“God hands me over to criminalsAnd tosses me [headlong] into the hands of the wicked.
It hurls itself against him without pity as he flees headlong from its power.
The wicked will turn to Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead),Even all the nations who forget God.
When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong,Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand.
The wise in heart [are willing to learn so they] will accept and obey commands (instruction),But the babbling fool [who is arrogant and thinks himself wise] will come to ruin.
He who [maliciously] winks the eye [of evil intent] causes trouble;And the babbling fool [who is arrogant and thinks himself wise] will come to ruin.
‘Behold, the Lord is about to hurl you headlong, O man.And He is about to grasp you firmly
I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repenteth him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turneth to his course, as a horse that rusheth headlong in the battle.
So the paths they follow will be dark and slippery. They will stumble and fall headlong. For I will bring disaster on them. A day of reckoning is coming for them." The Lord affirms it!
Look, I am about to bring terror on you—this is the declaration ofthe Lord God of Hosts—from all those around you.You will be banished, each man headlong,with no one to gather up the fugitives.
