'Master' in the Bible
"Not every one who says to me, 'Master, Master,' will enter the Kingdom of the Heavens, but only those who are obedient to my Father who is in Heaven.
Many will say to me on that day, "'Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Thy name, and in Thy name expelled demons, and in Thy name performed many mighty works?'
And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
So they came and woke Him, crying, "Master, save us, we are drowning!"
And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?
The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
The landowner’s slaves came to him and said, ‘Master, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Then where did the weeds come from?’
Then he told them, "That is why every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom from heaven is like the master of a household who brings both new and old things out of his treasure chest."
"Master," answered Peter, "if it is you, bid me come to you upon the water."
But when he felt the wind he grew frightened, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Master, save me."
Then Peter took Him aside and began taking Him to task. "Master," he said, "God forbid; this will not be your lot."
Then Peter said to Jesus, "Master, we are thankful to you that we are here. If you approve, I will put up three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
At this point Peter came to Him with the question, "Master, how often shall my brother act wrongly towards me and I forgive him? seven times?"
Since he had no way to pay it back, his master commanded that he, his wife, his children, and everything he had be sold to pay the debt.
Then the master of that slave had compassion, released him, and forgave him the loan.
When the other slaves saw what had taken place, they were deeply distressed and went and reported to their master everything that had happened.
“Then, after he had summoned him, his master said to him, ‘You wicked slave! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.
And his master got angry and handed him over to the jailers to be tortured until he could pay everything that was owed.
And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
"For the kingdom of heaven is like a man--the master of the house--who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.
"When evening came, the master said to his steward, "'Call the men and pay them their wages. Begin with the last set and finish with the first.'
And on receiving it they murmured against the master of the house,
And if any one says anything to you, say, 'The Master needs them,' and he will at once send them."
“Listen to another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard and put a wall around it and dug a wine press in it, and built a tower, and rented it out to tenant farmers and went on a journey [to another country].
Now when the master of the vineyard arrives, what will he do to those tenant farmers?"
And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.
and this know, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief doth come, he had watched, and not suffered his house to be broken through;
“Who then is a faithful and sensible slave, whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give them food at the proper time?
That slave whose master finds him working when he comes will be rewarded.
I tell you the truth, the master will put him in charge of all his possessions.
But if that wicked slave says in his heart, ‘My master is delayed,’
that slave’s master will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not know.
Then his master will punish him severely and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
And while they went to get oil, the master came; and those who were ready went in with him to the feast: and the door was shut.
“Later the rest of the virgins also came and said, ‘Master, master, open up for us!’
“After a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them.
The man who had received five talents approached, presented five more talents, and said, ‘Master, you gave me five talents. Look, I’ve earned five more talents.’
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy!’
“Then the man with two talents also approached. He said, ‘Master, you gave me two talents. Look, I’ve earned two more talents.’
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy!’
“Then the man who had received one talent also approached and said, ‘Master, I know you. You’re a difficult man, reaping where you haven’t sown and gathering where you haven’t scattered seed.
“But his master replied to him, ‘You evil, lazy slave! If you knew that I reap where I haven’t sown and gather where I haven’t scattered,
Then the master said, "Take the talent from him and give it to the man who has the ten talents,
And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.
Intensely grieved they began one after another to ask Him, "Can it be I, Master?"
Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.
And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.
