'Own' in the Bible
And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.
And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
(Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
And he said to them, Ye will surely say to me this parable, Physician, heal thyself; whatsoever we have heard has taken place in Capernaum do here also in thine own country.
And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
But, in order that you may know that the Son of Man (the Messiah) has authority and power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the paralyzed man, “I say to you, get up, pick up your stretcher and go home.”
And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
because he loves our nation and he built us our synagogue [at his own expense].”
But the Pharisees and expounders of the Law have frustrated God's purpose as to their own lives, by refusing to be baptized.
and Joanna the wife of Cuza (Herod's household manager), Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their own resources.
Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.
And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross daily [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me].
For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit his own self?
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.
But He told him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and spread the news of the kingdom of God.”
And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
If I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your own followers drive them out? That is why they will be your judges!
"When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own mansion, his property is safe.
But when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you should speak in your own defense or what you should say,

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her own brood under her wings, and ye would not!
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
Thus then every one of you who forsakes not all that is his own cannot be my disciple.
and having found it, he lays it upon his own shoulders, rejoicing;
'And having risen, he went unto his own father, and he being yet far distant, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and having ran he fell upon his neck and kissed him;
I see what to do, in order that when I am discharged from the stewardship they may give me a home in their own houses.'
And having called to him each one of the debtors of his own lord, he said to the first, How much owest thou to my lord?
“The master praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted astutely. For the sons of this age are more astute than the sons of light in dealing with their own people.
And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?
"You are they," He said to them, "who boast of their own goodness before men, but God sees your hearts; for that which holds a proud position among men is detestable in God's sight.
“The Law and the [writings of the] Prophets were proclaimed until John; since then the gospel of the kingdom of God has been and continues to be preached, and everyone tries forcefully to go into it.
For just like the lightning, when it flashes out of one part of the sky, gives light to the other part of the sky, so [visible] will the Son of Man be in His day.
Any man who makes it his object to keep his own life safe, will lose it; but whoever loses his life will preserve it.
And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.
Peter said, “Behold, we have left our own homes and followed You.”
and having called ten servants of his own, he gave to them ten pounds, and said unto them, Do business -- till I come;
And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
And they led it to Jesus; and having cast their own garments on the colt, they put Jesus on it.
Thus they were unable in the presence of the people to trap him with his own words. And stunned by his answer, they fell silent.
{Therefore make up your minds} not to prepare in advance to speak in your own defense,
When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
but I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail. When you have come back, you must strengthen your brothers."
And when it became day there was gathered together the eldership of the people, chief priests also, and scribes, and they led him up to their own sanhedrim,
And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
And Peter having risen, did run to the tomb, and having stooped down he seeth the linen clothes lying alone, and he went away to his own home, wondering at that which was come to pass.
