'Inactive' in the Bible
Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example],Nor stand in the path of sinners,Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers).
Why do you remain inactive? Intervene and destroy him!
Then I said, "I am sickened by the thought that the sovereign One might become inactive.
God, do not rest! Don't be silent! Don't stay inactive, God!
"I have been inactive for a long time; I kept quiet and held back. Like a woman in labor I groan; I pant and gasp.
“Why should You be [hesitant and inactive] like a man astounded and perplexed,Like a mighty man unable to save?Yet You, O Lord, are among us,And we are called by Your name;Do not leave us!”
We know that our old self [our human nature without the Holy Spirit] was nailed to the cross with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin.
But sin, finding an opportunity through the commandment [to express itself] produced in me every kind of coveting and selfish desire. For without the Law sin is dead [the recognition of sin is inactive].
But are you willing to recognize, you foolish [spiritually shallow] person, that faith without [good] works is useless?
