נְחֶמְיָ֖ה

בֶּן־

. חֲכַלְיָ֑ה

וַיְהִ֤י
way·hî
And it came to pass
בְחֹֽדֶשׁ־
ḇə·ḥō·ḏeš-
in the month
[כסלו]
kis·lêw
､ (כִּסְלֵיו֙)
kis·lêw
､ שְׁנַ֣ת
šə·naṯ
[in] the year ､
עֶשְׂרִ֔ים
‘eś·rîm,
וַאֲנִ֥י
wa·’ă·nî
and as I
הָיִ֖יתִי
hā·yî·ṯî
בְּשׁוּשַׁ֥ן
bə·šū·šan
､ הַבִּירָֽה׃
hab·bî·rāh.
the citadel ､

､ וַיָּבֹ֨א
way·yā·ḇō
､ חֲנָ֜נִי
ḥă·nā·nî
Hanani ､
אֶחָ֧ד
’e·ḥāḏ
､ מֵאַחַ֛י
mê·’a·ḥay
of my brothers ､
ה֥וּא
hū
he
וַאֲנָשִׁ֖ים
wa·’ă·nā·šîm
and men
מִֽיהוּדָ֑ה
mî·hū·ḏāh;
וָאֶשְׁאָלֵ֞ם
wā·’eš·’ā·lêm
and I asked them
עַל־
‘al-
הַיְּהוּדִ֧ים
hay·yə·hū·ḏîm
the Jews
､ הַפְּלֵיטָ֛ה
hap·pə·lê·ṭāh
אֲשֶֽׁר־
’ă·šer-
נִשְׁאֲר֥וּ
niš·’ă·rū
､ מִן־
min-
of my brothers ､
､ הַשֶּׁ֖בִי
haš·še·ḇî
the captivity ､
וְעַל־
wə·‘al-
. יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
yə·rū·šā·lim.

וַיֹּאמְרוּ֮
way·yō·mə·rū
לִי֒
lî
to me
הַֽנִּשְׁאָרִ֞ים
han·niš·’ā·rîm
אֲשֶֽׁר־
’ă·šer-
נִשְׁאֲר֤וּ
niš·’ă·rū
מִן־
min-
הַשְּׁבִי֙
haš·šə·ḇî
שָׁ֣ם
šām
בַּמְּדִינָ֔ה
bam·mə·ḏî·nāh,
in the province
בְּרָעָ֥ה
bə·rā·‘āh
גְדֹלָ֖ה
ḡə·ḏō·lāh
､ וּבְחֶרְפָּ֑ה
ū·ḇə·ḥer·pāh;
and reproach ､
וְחוֹמַ֤ת
wə·ḥō·w·maṯ
and the wall
יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙
yə·rū·šā·lim
､ מְפֹרָ֔צֶת
mə·p̄ō·rā·ṣeṯ,
[is] broken down ､
וּשְׁעָרֶ֖יהָ
ū·šə·‘ā·re·hā
נִצְּת֥וּ
niṣ·ṣə·ṯū
. בָאֵֽשׁ׃
ḇā·’êš.
with fire .

､ וַיְהִ֞י
way·hî
So it was ､
כְּשָׁמְעִ֣י ׀
kə·šā·mə·‘î
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
､ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים
had·də·ḇā·rîm
words ､
הָאֵ֗לֶּה
hā·’êl·leh,
יָשַׁ֙בְתִּי֙
yā·šaḇ·tî
､ וָֽאֶבְכֶּ֔ה
wā·’eḇ·keh,
and wept ､
וָאֶתְאַבְּלָ֖ה
wā·’eṯ·’ab·bə·lāh
､ יָמִ֑ים
yā·mîm;
[for many] days ､
וָֽאֱהִ֥י
wā·’ĕ·hî
and I was
､ צָם֙
ṣām
וּמִתְפַּלֵּ֔ל
ū·miṯ·pal·lêl,
לִפְנֵ֖י
lip̄·nê
אֱלֹהֵ֥י
’ĕ·lō·hê
the God
､ הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃
haš·šā·mā·yim.
of heaven ､

､ וָאֹמַ֗ר
wā·’ō·mar,
and I said ､
אָֽנָּ֤א
’ān·nā
יְהוָה֙
Yah·weh
אֱלֹהֵ֣י
’ĕ·lō·hê
､ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם
haš·šā·ma·yim,
of heaven ､
､ הָאֵ֥ל
hā·’êl
God ､
הַגָּד֖וֹל
hag·gā·ḏō·wl
וְהַנּוֹרָ֑א
wə·han·nō·w·rā;
שֹׁמֵ֤ר
šō·mêr
הַבְּרִית֙
hab·bə·rîṯ
וָחֶ֔סֶד
wā·ḥe·seḏ,
and mercy
לְאֹהֲבָ֖יו
lə·’ō·hă·ḇāw
וּלְשֹׁמְרֵ֥י
ū·lə·šō·mə·rê
､ מִצְוֺתָֽיו׃
miṣ·wō·ṯāw.

לִשְׁמֹ֣עַ

אֶל־

תְּפִלַּ֣ת

the prayer
､ עַבְדְּךָ֡
‘aḇ·də·ḵā
of Your servant ､
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
אָנֹכִי֩
’ā·nō·ḵî
I
מִתְפַּלֵּ֨ל
miṯ·pal·lêl
לְפָנֶ֤יךָ
lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā
､ הַיּוֹם֙
hay·yō·wm
now ､
יוֹמָ֣ם
yō·w·mām
､ וָלַ֔יְלָה
wā·lay·lāh,
and night ､
עַל־
‘al-
בְּנֵ֥י
bə·nê
the sons
יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל
yiś·rā·’êl
､ עֲבָדֶ֑יךָ
‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā;
וּמִתְוַדֶּ֗ה
ū·miṯ·wad·deh,
עַל־
‘al-
on
חַטֹּ֤אות
ḥaṭ·ṭō·wṯ
the sins
בְּנֵֽי־
bə·nê-
of the sons
､ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙
yiś·rā·’êl
of Israel ､
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
חָטָ֣אנוּ
ḥā·ṭā·nū
לָ֔ךְ
lāḵ,
וַאֲנִ֥י
wa·’ă·nî
and both I
וּבֵית־
ū·ḇêṯ-
and house
אָבִ֖י
’ā·ḇî
of my father

וְלֹא־

and not
שָׁמַ֣רְנוּ

､ הַמִּצְוֺ֗ת
ham·miṣ·wōṯ,
the commandments ､
וְאֶת־
wə·’eṯ-
and
､ הַֽחֻקִּים֙
ha·ḥuq·qîm
the statutes ､
וְאֶת־
wə·’eṯ-
､ הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֔ים
ham·miš·pā·ṭîm,
the ordinances ､
אֲשֶׁ֥ר
’ă·šer
צִוִּ֖יתָ
ṣiw·wî·ṯā
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
מֹשֶׁ֥ה
mō·šeh
. עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃
‘aḇ·de·ḵā.

הַדָּבָ֔ר
had·dā·ḇār,
the word
אֲשֶׁ֥ר
’ă·šer
צִוִּ֛יתָ
ṣiw·wî·ṯā
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
､ מֹשֶׁ֥ה
mō·šeh
Moses ､
עַבְדְּךָ֖
‘aḇ·də·ḵā
､ לֵאמֹ֑ר
lê·mōr;
saying ､
אַתֶּ֣ם
’at·tem
､ תִּמְעָ֔לוּ
tim·‘ā·lū,
[If] are unfaithful ､
אֲנִ֕י
’ă·nî
I
אָפִ֥יץ
’ā·p̄îṣ
will scatter
אֶתְכֶ֖ם
’eṯ·ḵem
– בָּעַמִּֽים׃
bā·‘am·mîm.
among the nations –

וְשַׁבְתֶּ֣ם
wə·šaḇ·tem
but [if] you return
אֵלַ֔י
’ê·lay,
to Me
וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם֙
ū·šə·mar·tem
and keep
､ מִצְוֺתַ֔י
miṣ·wō·ṯay,
וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם
wa·‘ă·śî·ṯem
and do
אֹתָ֑ם
’ō·ṯām;
אִם־
’im-
יִהְיֶ֨ה
yih·yeh
נִֽדַּחֲכֶ֜ם
nid·da·ḥă·ḵem
בִּקְצֵ֤ה
biq·ṣêh
to the farthest part
､ הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙
haš·šā·ma·yim
of the heavens ､
､ מִשָּׁ֣ם
miš·šām
אֲקַבְּצֵ֔ם
’ă·qab·bə·ṣêm,
[yet] I will gather them
[והבואתים]
wa·hă·ḇō·w·’ō·ṯîm
-
(וַהֲבִֽיאוֹתִים֙)
wa·hă·ḇî·’ō·w·ṯîm
אֶל־
’el-
to
הַמָּק֔וֹם
ham·mā·qō·wm,
the place
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
בָּחַ֔רְתִּי
bā·ḥar·tî,
לְשַׁכֵּ֥ן
lə·šak·kên
אֶת־
’eṯ-
שְׁמִ֖י
šə·mî
My name
. שָֽׁם׃
šām.

וְהֵ֥ם
wə·hêm
And those [are]
עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ
‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā
､ וְעַמֶּ֑ךָ
wə·‘am·me·ḵā;
and Your people ､
אֲשֶׁ֤ר
’ă·šer
פָּדִ֙יתָ֙
pā·ḏî·ṯā
､ בְּכֹחֲךָ֣
bə·ḵō·ḥă·ḵā
by Your power ､
הַגָּד֔וֹל
hag·gā·ḏō·wl,
וּבְיָדְךָ֖
ū·ḇə·yā·ḏə·ḵā
and by Your hand
. הַחֲזָקָֽה׃
ha·ḥă·zā·qāh.

Lord ､
תְּהִ֣י

let be

תְּפִלַּ֨ת

לְיִרְאָ֣ה

to fear
אֶת־

､ שְׁמֶ֔ךָ
šə·me·ḵā,
､ וְהַצְלִֽיחָה־
wə·haṣ·lî·ḥāh-
and let prosper ､
נָּ֤א

לְעַבְדְּךָ֙
lə·‘aḇ·də·ḵā
､ הַיּ֔וֹם
hay·yō·wm,
this day ､
וּתְנֵ֣הוּ
ū·ṯə·nê·hū
לְרַחֲמִ֔ים
lə·ra·ḥă·mîm,
לִפְנֵ֖י

in the sight
. הָאִ֣ישׁ
hā·’îš
of man .
הַזֶּ֑ה
haz·zeh;
וַאֲנִ֛י
wa·’ă·nî
for I
הָיִ֥יתִי
hā·yî·ṯî
מַשְׁקֶ֖ה
maš·qeh
. לַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
lam·me·leḵ.
