'Yourself' in the Bible
Therefore, any one of you who judges is without excuse. For when you judge another, you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the same things.
So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on those who practice these things and then do them yourself, do you think you will escape God's judgment?
But because of your hardness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed.
Now if you call yourself a Jew, and rest in the law, boast in God,
and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
you then, who teach another, don’t you teach yourself? You who preach, “You must not steal”—do you steal?
do not boast over the [broken] branches and exalt yourself at their expense. If you do boast and feel superior, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root that supports you.
For by the grace given to me I ask every one of you not to think of yourself more highly than you should think, rather to think of yourself with sober judgment on the measure of faith that God has assigned each of you.
If your gift is serving, devote yourself to serving others. If it is teaching, devote yourself to teaching others.
If it is encouraging, devote yourself to encouraging others. If it is sharing, share generously. If it is leading, lead enthusiastically. If it is helping, help cheerfully.
Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty [conceited, self-important, exclusive], but associate with humble people [those with a realistic self-view]. Do not overestimate yourself.
Do not be overcome and conquered by evil, but overcome evil with good.
The commandments:Do not commit adultery;do not murder;do not steal;do not covet;and whatever other commandment—all are summed up by this: Love your neighbor as yourself.
But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for [nor even think about gratifying] the flesh in regard to its improper desires.
Who are you to make yourself a judge of another man's servant? it is to his master that he is responsible for good or bad. Yes, his place will be safe, because the Lord is able to keep him from falling.
But you, why do you make yourself your brother's judge? or again, why have you no respect for your brother? because we will all have to take our place before God as our judge.
If your brother is being hurt or offended because of food [that you insist on eating], you are no longer walking in love [toward him]. Do not let what you eat destroy and spiritually harm one for whom Christ died.
Do you have a conviction? Keep it to yourself before God. The man who does not condemn himself by what he approves is blessed.
