Galatians 3:22

The Addition Of The Law

²¹ Is the law then contrary to God's promises? Of course not. For if a law had been given that was able to impart life, surely, then, right standing would have come through law. ²² But the Scripture pictures all mankind as prisoners of sin, so that the promised blessing through faith in Christ might be given to those who have faith. ²³ But before this faith came, we were kept locked up under the law, in preparation for the faith which was to be unveiled.

In accordance with His promise we are expecting new heavens and a new earth, in which uprightness will have its permanent home.

And the very thing that He Himself has promised us is eternal life.

1 John 3:23-24

His command is this, that we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and practice loving one another, just as He commanded us to do.

And this testimony is that God has given us eternal life, and this life is given through union with His Son.
