וְאֶל־

And to

､ מֹשֶׁ֨ה

אָמַ֜ר

’ā·mar

עֲלֵ֣ה

‘ă·lêh

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

､ אַתָּה֙

’at·tāh

you ､

､ וְאַהֲרֹן֙

wə·’a·hă·rōn

and Aaron ､

､ נָדָ֣ב

nā·ḏāḇ

､ וַאֲבִיה֔וּא

wa·’ă·ḇî·hū,

and Abihu ､

וְשִׁבְעִ֖ים

wə·šiḇ·‘îm

מִזִּקְנֵ֣י

miz·ziq·nê

of the elders

– יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel –

וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶ֖ם

wə·hiš·ta·ḥă·wî·ṯem

. מֵרָחֹֽק׃

mê·rā·ḥōq.

וְנִגַּ֨שׁ

wə·nig·gaš

And shall come near

מֹשֶׁ֤ה

mō·šeh

לְבַדּוֹ֙

lə·ḇad·dōw

אֶל־

’el-

-

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

וְהֵ֖ם

wə·hêm

but they

לֹ֣א

lō

not

– יִגָּ֑שׁוּ

yig·gā·šū;

shall come near –

וְהָעָ֕ם

wə·hā·‘ām

and the people

לֹ֥א

lō

יַעֲל֖וּ

ya·‘ă·lū

shall go up

. עִמּֽוֹ׃

‘im·mōw.

with him .

וַיָּבֹ֣א

way·yā·ḇō

מֹשֶׁ֗ה

mō·šeh,

וַיְסַפֵּ֤ר

way·sap·pêr

and told

לָעָם֙

lā·‘ām

אֵ֚ת

’êṯ

-

כָּל־

kāl-

דִּבְרֵ֣י

diḇ·rê

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

of Yahweh ､

וְאֵ֖ת

wə·’êṯ

and

כָּל־

kāl-

– הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֑ים

ham·miš·pā·ṭîm;

the judgments –

וַיַּ֨עַן

way·ya·‘an

כָּל־

kāl-

הָעָ֜ם

hā·‘ām

ק֤וֹל

qō·wl

אֶחָד֙

’e·ḥāḏ

[with] one

､ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

way·yō·mə·rū,

and said ､

כָּל־

kāl-

הַדְּבָרִ֛ים

had·də·ḇā·rîm

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

דִּבֶּ֥ר

dib·ber

､ יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. נַעֲשֶֽׂה׃

na·‘ă·śeh.

we will do .

וַיִּכְתֹּ֣ב

way·yiḵ·tōḇ

מֹשֶׁ֗ה

mō·šeh,

אֵ֚ת

’êṯ

-

כָּל־

kāl-

דִּבְרֵ֣י

diḇ·rê

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

of Yahweh ､

וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֣ם

way·yaš·kêm

and he rose early

､ בַּבֹּ֔קֶר

bab·bō·qer,

in the morning ､

וַיִּ֥בֶן

way·yi·ḇen

מִזְבֵּ֖חַ

miz·bê·aḥ

תַּ֣חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

at

､ הָהָ֑ר

hā·hār;

the foot of the mountain ､

וּשְׁתֵּ֤ים

ū·šə·têm

and two

עֶשְׂרֵה֙

‘eś·rêh

[and] ten

､ מַצֵּבָ֔ה

maṣ·ṣê·ḇāh,

לִשְׁנֵ֥ים

liš·nêm

according to two

עָשָׂ֖ר

‘ā·śār

[and] ten

שִׁבְטֵ֥י

šiḇ·ṭê

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

yiś·rā·’êl.

וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח

way·yiš·laḥ,

And he sent

אֶֽת־

’eṯ-

-

נַעֲרֵי֙

na·‘ă·rê

בְּנֵ֣י

bə·nê

of the sons

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

of Israel ､

וַיַּֽעֲל֖וּ

way·ya·‘ă·lū

and who offered

､ עֹלֹ֑ת

‘ō·lōṯ;

burnt offerings ､

וַֽיִּזְבְּח֞וּ

way·yiz·bə·ḥū

זְבָחִ֧ים

zə·ḇā·ḥîm

שְׁלָמִ֛ים

šə·lā·mîm

､ לַיהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

to Yahweh ､

. פָּרִֽים׃

pā·rîm.

of oxen .

וַיִּקַּ֤ח

way·yiq·qaḥ

And took

מֹשֶׁה֙

mō·šeh

חֲצִ֣י

ḥă·ṣî

､ הַדָּ֔ם

had·dām,

the blood ､

וַיָּ֖שֶׂם

way·yā·śem

and put [it]

– בָּאַגָּנֹ֑ת

bā·’ag·gā·nōṯ;

in basins –

וַחֲצִ֣י

wa·ḥă·ṣî

and half

הַדָּ֔ם

had·dām,

זָרַ֖ק

zā·raq

עַל־

‘al-

on

. הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃

ham·miz·bê·aḥ.

the altar .

וַיִּקַּח֙

way·yiq·qaḥ

And he took

סֵ֣פֶר

sê·p̄er

the Book

､ הַבְּרִ֔ית

hab·bə·rîṯ,

of the Covenant ､

וַיִּקְרָ֖א

way·yiq·rā

and read

בְּאָזְנֵ֣י

bə·’ā·zə·nê

in the hearing

– הָעָ֑ם

hā·‘ām;

of the people –

､ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

way·yō·mə·rū,

and they said ､

כֹּ֛ל

kōl

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

דִּבֶּ֥ר

dib·ber

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

､ נַעֲשֶׂ֥ה

na·‘ă·śeh

we will do ､

. וְנִשְׁמָֽע׃

wə·niš·mā‘.

and be obedient .

וַיִּקַּ֤ח

way·yiq·qaḥ

And took

מֹשֶׁה֙

mō·šeh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הַדָּ֔ם

had·dām,

the blood ､

וַיִּזְרֹ֖ק

way·yiz·rōq

and sprinkled [it]

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ הָעָ֑ם

hā·‘ām;

the people ､

､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

way·yō·mer,

and said ､

הִנֵּ֤ה

hin·nêh

דַֽם־

ḏam-

､ הַבְּרִית֙

hab·bə·rîṯ

of the covenant ､

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

’ă·šer

כָּרַ֤ת

kā·raṯ

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

עִמָּכֶ֔ם

‘im·mā·ḵem,

with you

עַ֥ל

‘al

כָּל־

kāl-

הַדְּבָרִ֖ים

had·də·ḇā·rîm

. הָאֵֽלֶּה׃

hā·’êl·leh.

וַיַּ֥עַל

way·ya·‘al

And went up

､ מֹשֶׁ֖ה

mō·šeh

､ וְאַהֲרֹ֑ן

wə·’a·hă·rōn;

and Aaron ､

､ נָדָב֙

nā·ḏāḇ

､ וַאֲבִיה֔וּא

wa·’ă·ḇî·hū,

and Abihu ､

וְשִׁבְעִ֖ים

wə·šiḇ·‘îm

מִזִּקְנֵ֥י

miz·ziq·nê

of the elders

､ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

yiś·rā·’êl.

of Israel ､

וַיִּרְא֕וּ

way·yir·’ū

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

’ĕ·lō·hê

the God

– יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel –

וְתַ֣חַת

wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ

and [there was] under

רַגְלָ֗יו

raḡ·lāw,

כְּמַעֲשֵׂה֙

kə·ma·‘ă·śêh

as it were a work

לִבְנַ֣ת

liḇ·naṯ

､ הַסַּפִּ֔יר

has·sap·pîr,

sapphire stone ､

וּכְעֶ֥צֶם

ū·ḵə·‘e·ṣem

and it was like very

הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim

. לָטֹֽהַר׃

lā·ṭō·har.

in [its] clarity .

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

But on

אֲצִילֵי֙

’ă·ṣî·lê

בְּנֵ֣י

bə·nê

of the sons

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

לֹ֥א

lō

not

שָׁלַ֖ח

šā·laḥ

– יָד֑וֹ

yā·ḏōw;

וַֽיֶּחֱזוּ֙

way·ye·ḥĕ·zū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

God ､

וַיֹּאכְל֖וּ

way·yō·ḵə·lū

. וַיִּשְׁתּֽוּ׃

way·yiš·tū.

and drank .

Moses on the Mountain

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said

יְהוָ֜ה

Yah·weh

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ מֹשֶׁ֗ה

mō·šeh,

עֲלֵ֥ה

‘ă·lêh

אֵלַ֛י

’ê·lay

to Me

､ הָהָ֖רָה

hā·hā·rāh

on the mountain ､

וֶהְיֵה־

weh·yêh-

and be

､ שָׁ֑ם

šām;

וְאֶתְּנָ֨ה

wə·’et·tə·nāh

and I will give

לְךָ֜

lə·ḵā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

לֻחֹ֣ת

lu·ḥōṯ

､ הָאֶ֗בֶן

hā·’e·ḇen,

of stone ､

､ וְהַתּוֹרָה֙

wə·hat·tō·w·rāh

and the law ､

וְהַמִּצְוָ֔ה

wə·ham·miṣ·wāh,

and commandments

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

כָּתַ֖בְתִּי

kā·ṯaḇ·tî

. לְהוֹרֹתָֽם׃

lə·hō·w·rō·ṯām.

that you may teach them .

וַיָּ֣קָם

way·yā·qām

מֹשֶׁ֔ה

mō·šeh,

וִיהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ

wî·hō·wō·šu·a‘

､ מְשָׁרְת֑וֹ

mə·šā·rə·ṯōw;

his assistant ､

וַיַּ֥עַל

way·ya·‘al

and went up

מֹשֶׁ֖ה

mō·šeh

אֶל־

’el-

to

הַ֥ר

har

. הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm.

of God .

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

And to

､ הַזְּקֵנִ֤ים

haz·zə·qê·nîm

the elders ､

אָמַר֙

’ā·mar

שְׁבוּ־

šə·ḇū-

לָ֣נוּ

lā·nū

for us

､ בָזֶ֔ה

ḇā·zeh,

in this [place] ､

עַ֥ד

‘aḏ

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נָשׁ֖וּב

nā·šūḇ

. אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם

’ă·lê·ḵem;

to you .

וְהִנֵּ֨ה

wə·hin·nêh

אַהֲרֹ֤ן

’a·hă·rōn

וְחוּר֙

wə·ḥūr

and Hur

. עִמָּכֶ֔ם

‘im·mā·ḵem,

[are] with you .

מִי־

mî-

Who [is]

בַ֥עַל

ḇa·‘al

the man

דְּבָרִ֖ים

də·ḇā·rîm

[with] a difficulty

יִגַּ֥שׁ

yig·gaš

. אֲלֵהֶֽם׃

’ă·lê·hem.

to them .

וַיַּ֥עַל

way·ya·‘al

And went up

מֹשֶׁ֖ה

mō·šeh

אֶל־

’el-

､ הָהָ֑ר

hā·hār;

the mountain ､

וַיְכַ֥ס

way·ḵas

הֶעָנָ֖ן

he·‘ā·nān

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. הָהָֽר׃

hā·hār.

וַיִּשְׁכֹּ֤ן

way·yiš·kōn

כְּבוֹד־

kə·ḇō·wḏ-

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

עַל־

‘al-

on

הַ֣ר

har

､ סִינַ֔י

sî·nay,

וַיְכַסֵּ֥הוּ

way·ḵas·sê·hū

and covered it

הֶעָנָ֖ן

he·‘ā·nān

שֵׁ֣שֶׁת

šê·šeṯ

– יָמִ֑ים

yā·mîm;

days –

וַיִּקְרָ֧א

way·yiq·rā

and He called

אֶל־

’el-

to

מֹשֶׁ֛ה

mō·šeh

בַּיּ֥וֹם

bay·yō·wm

on the day

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖י

haš·šə·ḇî·‘î

מִתּ֥וֹךְ

mit·tō·wḵ

out of the midst

. הֶעָנָֽן׃

he·‘ā·nān.

of the cloud .

וּמַרְאֵה֙

ū·mar·’êh

And the sight

כְּב֣וֹד

kə·ḇō·wḏ

of the glory

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

כְּאֵ֥שׁ

kə·’êš

[was] like a fire

אֹכֶ֖לֶת

’ō·ḵe·leṯ

בְּרֹ֣אשׁ

bə·rōš

on the top

הָהָ֑ר

hā·hār;

of the mountain

לְעֵינֵ֖י

lə·‘ê·nê

in the eyes

בְּנֵ֥י

bə·nê

of the sons

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

yiś·rā·’êl.

וַיָּבֹ֥א

way·yā·ḇō

מֹשֶׁ֛ה

mō·šeh

בְּת֥וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

､ הֶעָנָ֖ן

he·‘ā·nān

of the cloud ､

וַיַּ֣עַל

way·ya·‘al

and went up

אֶל־

’el-

– הָהָ֑ר

hā·hār;

the mountain –

וַיְהִ֤י

way·hî

and was

מֹשֶׁה֙

mō·šeh

בָּהָ֔ר

bā·hār,

on the mountain

אַרְבָּעִ֣ים

’ar·bā·‘îm

י֔וֹם

yō·wm,

וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים

wə·’ar·bā·‘îm

. לָֽיְלָה׃

lā·yə·lāh.
