וְאַרְבָּעָ֜ה

and four

לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš

הַזֶּ֗ה

haz·zeh,

נֶאֶסְפ֤וּ

ne·’es·p̄ū

בְנֵֽי־

ḇə·nê-

the sons

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

､ בְּצ֣וֹם

bə·ṣō·wm

with fasting ､

､ וּבְשַׂקִּ֔ים

ū·ḇə·śaq·qîm,

and in sackcloth ､

וַאֲדָמָ֖ה

wa·’ă·ḏā·māh

and with dust

. עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

‘ă·lê·hem.

on their heads .

וַיִּבָּֽדְלוּ֙

way·yib·bā·ḏə·lū

And separated themselves

זֶ֣רַע

ze·ra‘

the seed

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

מִכֹּ֖ל

mik·kōl

בְּנֵ֣י

bə·nê

､ נֵכָ֑ר

nê·ḵār;

וַיַּעַמְד֗וּ

way·ya·‘am·ḏū,

וַיִּתְוַדּוּ֙

way·yiṯ·wad·dū

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ חַטֹּ֣אתֵיהֶ֔ם

ḥaṭ·ṭō·ṯê·hem,

וַעֲוֺנ֖וֹת

wa·‘ă·wō·nō·wṯ

and the iniquities

. אֲבֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

’ă·ḇō·ṯê·hem.

of their fathers .

וַיָּק֙וּמוּ֙

way·yā·qū·mū

And they stood up

עַל־

‘al-

in

､ עָמְדָ֔ם

‘ā·mə·ḏām,

their place ､

וַֽיִּקְרְא֗וּ

way·yiq·rə·’ū,

and read

בְּסֵ֨פֶר

bə·sê·p̄er

תּוֹרַ֧ת

tō·w·raṯ

of the Law

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֖ם

’ĕ·lō·hê·hem

רְבִעִ֣ית

rə·ḇi·‘îṯ

– הַיּ֑וֹם

hay·yō·wm;

of the day –

וּרְבִעִית֙

ū·rə·ḇi·‘îṯ

and [for another] fourth

､ מִתְוַדִּ֣ים

miṯ·wad·dîm

they confessed ､

וּמִֽשְׁתַּחֲוִ֔ים

ū·miš·ta·ḥă·wîm,

לַיהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃

and Bani ､

､ קַדְמִיאֵ֧ל

qaḏ·mî·’êl

､ שְׁבַנְיָ֛ה

šə·ḇan·yāh

､ בֻּנִּ֥י

bun·nî

､ שֵׁרֵבְיָ֖ה

šê·rê·ḇə·yāh

､ בָּנִ֣י

bā·nî

Bani ､

､ כְנָ֑נִי

ḵə·nā·nî;

[and] Chenani ､

וַֽיִּזְעֲקוּ֙

way·yiz·‘ă·qū

בְּק֣וֹל

bə·qō·wl

with a voice

גָּד֔וֹל

gā·ḏō·wl,

אֶל־

’el-

to

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃

’ĕ·lō·hê·hem.

､ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ

way·yō·mə·rū

And said ､

､ הַלְוִיִּ֡ם

hal·wî·yim

the Levites ､

､ יֵשׁ֣וּעַ

yê·šū·a‘

､ וְ֠קַדְמִיאֵל

wə·qaḏ·mî·’êl

and Kadmiel ､

､ בָּנִ֨י

bā·nî

Bani ､

､ חֲשַׁבְנְיָ֜ה

ḥă·šaḇ·nə·yāh

､ שֵׁרֵֽבְיָ֤ה

šê·rê·ḇə·yāh

､ הֽוֹדִיָּה֙

hō·w·ḏî·yāh

､ שְׁבַנְיָ֣ה

šə·ḇan·yāh

､ פְתַֽחְיָ֔ה

p̄ə·ṯaḥ·yāh,

[and] Pethahiah ､

ק֗וּמוּ

qū·mū,

בָּרֲכוּ֙

bā·ră·ḵū

[and] bless

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem,

מִן־

min-

הָעוֹלָ֖ם

hā·‘ō·w·lām

עַד־

‘aḏ-

and

! הָעוֹלָ֑ם

hā·‘ō·w·lām;

וִיבָֽרְכוּ֙

wî·ḇā·rə·ḵū

､ שֵׁ֣ם

כְּבוֹדֶ֔ךָ

kə·ḇō·w·ḏe·ḵā,

וּמְרוֹמַ֥ם

ū·mə·rō·w·mam

and which is exalted

עַל־

‘al-

כָּל־

kāl-

בְּרָכָ֖ה

. וּתְהִלָּֽה׃

and praise .

אַתָּה־

’at·tāh-

､ ה֣וּא

with their host ､

the earth ､

וְכָל־

and

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

､ עָלֶ֙יהָ֙

‘ā·le·hā

on it ､

､ הַיַּמִּים֙

hay·yam·mîm

the seas ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

בָּהֶ֔ם

bā·hem,

וְאַתָּ֖ה

wə·’at·tāh

and You

מְחַיֶּ֣ה

mə·ḥay·yeh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

– כֻּלָּ֑ם

kul·lām;

וּצְבָ֥א

ū·ṣə·ḇā

and the host

הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim

לְךָ֥

lə·ḵā

. מִשְׁתַּחֲוִֽים׃

miš·ta·ḥă·wîm.

אַתָּה־

’at·tāh-

הוּא֙

hū

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

God ､

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

בָּחַ֙רְתָּ֙

bā·ḥar·tā

､ בְּאַבְרָ֔ם

bə·’aḇ·rām,

וְהוֹצֵאת֖וֹ

wə·hō·w·ṣê·ṯōw

and brought him

מֵא֣וּר

mê·’ūr

､ כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים

kaś·dîm;

of the Chaldeans ､

וְשַׂ֥מְתָּ

wə·śam·tā

and gave

שְּׁמ֖וֹ

šə·mōw

– אַבְרָהָֽם׃

’aḇ·rā·hām.

וּמָצָ֣אתָ

ū·mā·ṣā·ṯā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

לְבָבוֹ֮

lə·ḇā·ḇōw

נֶאֱמָ֣ן

ne·’ĕ·mān

לְפָנֶיךָ֒

lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā

וְכָר֨וֹת

wə·ḵā·rō·wṯ

and made

עִמּ֜וֹ

‘im·mōw

with him

הַבְּרִ֗ית

hab·bə·rîṯ,

לָתֵ֡ת

lā·ṯêṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

אֶרֶץ֩

’e·reṣ

the land

､ הַכְּנַעֲנִ֨י

hak·kə·na·‘ă·nî

of the Canaanite ､

､ הַחִתִּ֜י

ha·ḥit·tî

the Hittite ､

､ הָאֱמֹרִ֧י

hā·’ĕ·mō·rî

the Amorite ､

､ וְהַפְּרִזִּ֛י

wə·hap·pə·riz·zî

and the Perizzite ､

､ וְהַיְבוּסִ֥י

wə·hay·ḇū·sî

and the Jebusite ､

､ וְהַגִּרְגָּשִׁ֖י

wə·hag·gir·gā·šî

and the Girgashite ､

לָתֵ֣ת

lā·ṯêṯ

to give [it]

､ לְזַרְע֑וֹ

lə·zar·‘ōw;

to his descendants ､

וַתָּ֙קֶם֙

wat·tā·qem

and You have performed

אֶת־

-

– דְּבָרֶ֔יךָ

כִּ֥י

. אָֽתָּה׃

the Sea –

against Pharaoh ､

､ עֲבָדָיו֙

his servants ､

וּבְכָל־

‘am

– אַרְצ֔וֹ

’ar·ṣōw,

of his land –

כִּ֣י

יָדַ֔עְתָּ

כִּ֥י

הֵזִ֖ידוּ

they acted proudly

עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם

‘ă·lê·hem;

וַתַּֽעַשׂ־

wat·ta·‘aś-

לְךָ֥

lə·ḵā

､ שֵׁ֖ם

a name ､

כְּהַיּ֥וֹם

kə·hay·yō·wm

as [it is] day

. הַזֶּֽה׃

haz·zeh.

וְהַיָּם֙

And the sea

בָּקַ֣עְתָּ

bā·qa‘·tā

לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם

lip̄·nê·hem,

וַיַּֽעַבְר֥וּ

way·ya·‘aḇ·rū

so that they went through

בְתוֹךְ־

ḇə·ṯō·wḵ-

הַיָּ֖ם

hay·yām

of the sea

– בַּיַּבָּשָׁ֑ה

bay·yab·bā·šāh;

on the dry land –

וְֽאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

רֹ֨דְפֵיהֶ֜ם

rō·ḏə·p̄ê·hem

their persecutors

הִשְׁלַ֧כְתָּ

hiš·laḵ·tā

､ בִמְצוֹלֹ֛ת

ḇim·ṣō·w·lōṯ

into the deep ､

כְּמוֹ־

kə·mōw-

as

אֶ֖בֶן

’e·ḇen

בְּמַ֥יִם

bə·ma·yim

into the waters

. עַזִּֽים׃

‘az·zîm.

– וּבְעַמּ֣וּד

ū·ḇə·‘am·mūḏ

Moreover with a pillar –

עָנָ֔ן

‘ā·nān,

הִנְחִיתָ֖ם

hin·ḥî·ṯām

יוֹמָ֑ם

yō·w·mām;

by day

וּבְעַמּ֥וּד

ū·ḇə·‘am·mūḏ

and with a pillar

､ אֵשׁ֙

’êš

of fire ､

לַ֔יְלָה

lay·lāh,

לְהָאִ֣יר

lə·hā·’îr

לָהֶ֔ם

lā·hem,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ

had·de·reḵ

on the road

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

יֵֽלְכוּ־

yê·lə·ḵū-

they should travel

. בָֽהּ׃

and gave

､ מִשְׁפָּטִ֤ים

יְשָׁרִים֙

､ וְתוֹר֣וֹת

wə·ṯō·w·rō·wṯ

and laws ､

אֱמֶ֔ת

’ĕ·meṯ,

חֻקִּ֥ים

ḥuq·qîm

וּמִצְוֺ֖ת

ū·miṣ·wōṯ

and commandments

. טוֹבִֽים׃

ṭō·w·ḇîm.

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

And

､ שַׁבַּ֥ת

šab·baṯ

קָדְשְׁךָ֖

qāḏ·šə·ḵā

הוֹדַ֣עַתָ‪‬

hō·w·ḏa·‘a·ṯā

לָהֶ֑ם

lā·hem;

､ וּמִצְו֤וֹת

ū·miṣ·wō·wṯ

and precepts ､

､ וְחֻקִּים֙

wə·ḥuq·qîm

and statutes ､

､ וְתוֹרָ֔ה

wə·ṯō·w·rāh,

and laws ､

צִוִּ֣יתָ

ṣiw·wî·ṯā

לָהֶ֔ם

lā·hem,

בְּיַ֖ד

bə·yaḏ

by the hand

מֹשֶׁ֥ה

mō·šeh

– עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃

‘aḇ·de·ḵā.

Your servant –

וְ֠לֶחֶם

wə·le·ḥem

מִשָּׁמַ֜יִם

miš·šā·ma·yim

נָתַ֤תָּה

nā·ṯat·tāh

לָהֶם֙

lā·hem

､ לִרְעָבָ֔ם

lir·‘ā·ḇām,

for their hunger ､

וּמַ֗יִם

ū·ma·yim,

מִסֶּ֛לַע

mis·se·la‘

out of the rock

הוֹצֵ֥אתָ

hō·w·ṣê·ṯā

לָהֶ֖ם

lā·hem

､ לִצְמָאָ֑ם

liṣ·mā·’ām;

for their thirst ､

וַתֹּ֣אמֶר

wat·tō·mer

and told

לָהֶ֗ם

lā·hem,

לָבוֹא֙

lā·ḇō·w

to go in

לָרֶ֣שֶׁת

lā·re·šeṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the land

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נָשָׂ֥אתָ

nā·śā·ṯā

-

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יָדְךָ֖

yā·ḏə·ḵā

לָתֵ֥ת

lā·ṯêṯ

. לָהֶֽם׃

lā·hem.

וְהֵ֥ם

wə·hêm

But they

וַאֲבֹתֵ֖ינוּ

wa·’ă·ḇō·ṯê·nū

and our fathers

､ הֵזִ֑ידוּ

hê·zî·ḏū;

acted proudly ､

וַיַּקְשׁוּ֙

way·yaq·šū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ עָרְפָּ֔ם

‘ā·rə·pām,

their necks ､

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

שָׁמְע֖וּ

šā·mə·‘ū

אֶל־

’el-

､ מִצְוֺתֶֽיךָ׃

miṣ·wō·ṯe·ḵā.

Your commandments ､

וַיְמָאֲנ֣וּ

way·mā·’ă·nū

and they refused

､ לִשְׁמֹ֗עַ

liš·mō·a‘,

to obey ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and not

זָכְר֤וּ

zā·ḵə·rū

they were mindful

נִפְלְאֹתֶ֙יךָ֙

nip̄·lə·’ō·ṯe·ḵā

of Your wonders

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

עָשִׂ֣יתָ

‘ā·śî·ṯā

עִמָּהֶ֔ם

‘im·mā·hem,

וַיַּקְשׁוּ֙

way·yaq·šū

but they hardened

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ עָרְפָּ֔ם

‘ā·rə·pām,

their necks ､

וַיִּתְּנוּ־

way·yit·tə·nū-

רֹ֛אשׁ

rōš

לָשׁ֥וּב

lā·šūḇ

– לְעַבְדֻתָ֖ם

lə·‘aḇ·ḏu·ṯām

to their bondage –

בְּמִרְיָ֑ם

bə·mir·yām;

in their rebellion

וְאַתָּה֩

wə·’at·tāh

but You [are]

אֱל֨וֹהַּ

’ĕ·lō·w·ah

､ סְלִיח֜וֹת

sə·lî·ḥō·wṯ

[Ready] to pardon ､

חַנּ֧וּן

ḥan·nūn

､ וְרַח֛וּם

wə·ra·ḥūm

and merciful ､

אֶֽרֶךְ־

’e·reḵ-

､ אַפַּ֥יִם

’ap·pa·yim

to anger ､

וְרַב־

wə·raḇ-

[וחסד]

wə·ḥe·seḏ

-

､ (חֶ֖סֶד‪‬)

ḥe·seḏ

in kindness ､

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

. עֲזַבְתָּֽם׃

‘ă·zaḇ·tām.

did forsake them .

､ אַ֗ף

Even ､

כִּֽי־

עָשׂ֤וּ

לָהֶם֙

､ עֵ֣גֶל

‘ê·ḡel

a calf ､

מַסֵּכָ֔ה

mas·sê·ḵāh,

､ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

way·yō·mə·rū,

and said ､

זֶ֣ה

this [is]

אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

הֶעֶלְךָ֖

he·‘el·ḵā

מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם

mim·miṣ·rā·yim;

וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֔וּ

way·ya·‘ă·śū,

– נֶאָצ֖וֹת

ne·’ā·ṣō·wṯ

provocations –

. גְּדֹלֽוֹת׃

gə·ḏō·lō·wṯ.

וְאַתָּה֙

wə·’at·tāh

בְּרַחֲמֶ֣יךָ

bə·ra·ḥă·me·ḵā

in Your mercies

הָֽרַבִּ֔ים

hā·rab·bîm,

לֹ֥א

not

עֲזַבְתָּ֖ם

‘ă·zaḇ·tām

did forsake them

– בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר

bam·miḏ·bār;

in the wilderness –

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

עַמּ֣וּד

‘am·mūḏ

הֶ֠עָנָן

he·‘ā·nān

of the cloud

לֹא־

lō-

not

סָ֨ר

sār

מֵעֲלֵיהֶ֤ם

mê·‘ă·lê·hem

､ בְּיוֹמָם֙

bə·yō·w·mām

by day ､

לְהַנְחֹתָ֣ם

lə·han·ḥō·ṯām

– בְּהַדֶּ֔רֶךְ

bə·had·de·reḵ,

on the road –

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

עַמּ֨וּד

‘am·mūḏ

הָאֵ֤שׁ

hā·’êš

､ בְּלַ֙יְלָה֙

bə·lay·lāh

by night ､

､ לְהָאִ֣יר

lə·hā·’îr

to show light ､

לָהֶ֔ם

lā·hem,

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ

had·de·reḵ

the way

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

יֵֽלְכוּ־

yê·lə·ḵū-

. בָֽהּ׃

And Your Spirit

הַטּוֹבָ֔ה

haṭ·ṭō·w·ḇāh,

נָתַ֖תָּ

לְהַשְׂכִּילָ֑ם

to instruct them

וּמַנְךָ֙

ū·man·ḵā

לֹא־

not

מָנַ֣עְתָּ

mā·na‘·tā

､ מִפִּיהֶ֔ם

mip·pî·hem,

from their mouth ､

וּמַ֛יִם

ū·ma·yim

נָתַ֥תָּה

nā·ṯat·tāh

לָהֶ֖ם

lā·hem

. לִצְמָאָֽם׃

liṣ·mā·’ām.

for their thirst .

וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים

wə·’ar·bā·‘îm

שָׁנָ֛ה

šā·nāh

כִּלְכַּלְתָּ֥ם

kil·kal·tām

You sustained them

､ בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר

bam·miḏ·bār

in the wilderness ､

– לֹ֣א

חָסֵ֑רוּ

שַׂלְמֹֽתֵיהֶם֙

śal·mō·ṯê·hem

לֹ֣א

､ בָל֔וּ

did wear out ､

וְרַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם

. בָצֵֽקוּ׃

וַתִּתֵּ֨ן

Moreover You gave

לָהֶ֤ם

מַמְלָכוֹת֙

mam·lā·ḵō·wṯ

､ וַעֲמָמִ֔ים

wa·‘ă·mā·mîm,

and nations ､

וַֽתַּחְלְקֵ֖ם

wat·taḥ·lə·qêm

and divided them

. לְפֵאָ֑ה

lə·p̄ê·’āh;

into districts .

וַיִּֽירְשׁ֞וּ

way·yî·rə·šū

So they took possession

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

אֶ֣רֶץ

’e·reṣ

of the land

､ סִיח֗וֹן

sî·ḥō·wn,

of Sihon ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

אֶ֙רֶץ֙

’e·reṣ

the land

מֶ֣לֶךְ

me·leḵ

of the king

､ חֶשְׁבּ֔וֹן

ḥeš·bō·wn,

of Heshbon ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

אֶ֖רֶץ

the land

of Og

הִרְבִּ֔יתָ

כְּכֹכְבֵ֖י

kə·ḵō·ḵə·ḇê

､ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

haš·šā·mā·yim;

of the heaven ､

וַתְּבִיאֵם֙

wat·tə·ḇî·’êm

and brought them

אֶל־

’el-

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the land ､

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

אָמַ֥רְתָּ

’ā·mar·tā

､ לַאֲבֹתֵיהֶ֖ם

la·’ă·ḇō·ṯê·hem

their fathers ､

לָב֥וֹא

lā·ḇō·w

to go in

. לָרָֽשֶׁת׃

lā·rā·šeṯ.

וַיָּבֹ֤אוּ

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

So went in

הַבָּנִים֙

hab·bā·nîm

the sons

וַיִּֽירְשׁ֣וּ

way·yî·rə·šū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the land ､

וַתַּכְנַ֨ע

wat·taḵ·na‘

and You subdued

לִפְנֵיהֶ֜ם

lip̄·nê·hem

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יֹשְׁבֵ֤י

yō·šə·ḇê

the inhabitants

､ הָאָ֙רֶץ֙

hā·’ā·reṣ

of the land ､

､ הַכְּנַ֣עֲנִ֔ים

hak·kə·na·‘ă·nîm,

the Canaanites ､

וַֽתִּתְּנֵ֖ם

wat·tit·tə·nêm

､ בְּיָדָ֑ם

bə·yā·ḏām;

into their hands ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and with

､ מַלְכֵיהֶם֙

mal·ḵê·hem

their kings ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

עַֽמְמֵ֣י

‘am·mê

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

of the land ､

לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ

that they might do

בָּהֶ֖ם

bā·hem

with them

. כִּרְצוֹנָֽם׃

kir·ṣō·w·nām.

as they wished .

וַֽיִּלְכְּד֞וּ

way·yil·kə·ḏū

､ עָרִ֣ים

‘ā·rîm

בְּצֻרוֹת֮

bə·ṣu·rō·wṯ

､ וַאֲדָמָ֣ה

wa·’ă·ḏā·māh

and a land ､

שְׁמֵנָה֒

šə·mê·nāh

וַיִּֽירְשׁ֡וּ

way·yî·rə·šū

בָּתִּ֣ים

bāt·tîm

מְלֵֽאִים־

mə·lê·’îm-

כָּל־

kāl-

of all

､ ט֠וּב

ṭūḇ

בֹּר֨וֹת

bō·rō·wṯ

､ חֲצוּבִ֜ים

ḥă·ṣū·ḇîm

[already] dug ､

､ כְּרָמִ֧ים

kə·rā·mîm

､ וְזֵיתִ֛ים

wə·zê·ṯîm

and olive groves ､

וְעֵ֥ץ

wə·‘êṣ

מַאֲכָ֖ל

ma·’ă·ḵāl

. לָרֹ֑ב

lā·rōḇ;

､ וַיֹּאכְל֤וּ

way·yō·ḵə·lū

So they ate ､

､ וַֽיִּשְׂבְּעוּ֙

way·yiś·bə·‘ū

and were filled ､

､ וַיַּשְׁמִ֔ינוּ

way·yaš·mî·nū,

and grew fat ､

וַיִּֽתְעַדְּנ֖וּ

way·yiṯ·‘ad·də·nū

and delighted themselves

בְּטוּבְךָ֥

bə·ṭū·ḇə·ḵā

in Your goodness

. הַגָּדֽוֹל׃

hag·gā·ḏō·wl.

､ וַיַּמְר֨וּ

way·yam·rū

And nevertheless they were disobedient ､

וַֽיִּמְרְד֜וּ

way·yim·rə·ḏū

בָּ֗ךְ

bāḵ,

וַיַּשְׁלִ֤כוּ

way·yaš·li·ḵū

תּוֹרָֽתְךָ֙

אַחֲרֵ֣י

’a·ḥă·rê

､ גַוָּ֔ם

נְבִיאֶ֣יךָ

הָרָ֔גוּ

אֲשֶׁר־

הֵעִ֥ידוּ

בָ֖ם

ḇām

לַהֲשִׁיבָ֣ם

la·hă·šî·ḇām

אֵלֶ֑יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā;

וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֔וּ

way·ya·‘ă·śū,

and they worked

נֶאָצ֖וֹת

ne·’ā·ṣō·wṯ

. גְּדוֹלֹֽת׃

gə·ḏō·w·lōṯ.

וַֽתִּתְּנֵם֙

wat·tit·tə·nêm

Therefore You delivered them

בְּיַ֣ד

bə·yaḏ

､ צָֽרֵיהֶ֔ם

ṣā·rê·hem,

of their enemies ､

וַיָּצֵ֖רוּ

way·yā·ṣê·rū

and who oppressed

לָהֶ֑ם

lā·hem;

וּבְעֵ֤ת

ū·ḇə·‘êṯ

and in the time

､ צָֽרָתָם֙

ṣā·rā·ṯām

of their trouble ､

יִצְעֲק֣וּ

yiṣ·‘ă·qū

when they cried

אֵלֶ֔יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā,

to You

וְאַתָּה֙

wə·’at·tāh

and You

– מִשָּׁמַ֣יִם

miš·šā·ma·yim

from heaven –

תִּשְׁמָ֔ע

tiš·mā‘,

וּֽכְרַחֲמֶ֣יךָ

ū·ḵə·ra·ḥă·me·ḵā

and according to Your mercies

הָֽרַבִּ֗ים

hā·rab·bîm,

תִּתֵּ֤ן

tit·tên

לָהֶם֙

lā·hem

､ מֽוֹשִׁיעִ֔ים

mō·wō·šî·‘îm,

וְיוֹשִׁיע֖וּם

wə·yō·wō·šî·‘ūm

and who saved them

מִיַּ֥ד

mî·yaḏ

. צָרֵיהֶֽם׃

ṣā·rê·hem.

of their enemies .

､ וּכְנ֣וֹחַ

ū·ḵə·nō·w·aḥ

But after had rest ､

לָהֶ֔ם

lā·hem,

יָשׁ֕וּבוּ

yā·šū·ḇū

לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ

רַ֖ע

ra‘

לְפָנֶ֑יךָ

lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā;

וַתַּֽעַזְבֵ֞ם

wat·ta·‘az·ḇêm

therefore You left them

בְּיַ֤ד

bə·yaḏ

in the hand

､ אֹֽיְבֵיהֶם֙

’ō·yə·ḇê·hem

of their enemies ､

וַיִּרְדּ֣וּ

way·yir·dū

so that they had dominion

בָהֶ֔ם

ḇā·hem,

､ וַיָּשׁ֙וּבוּ֙

way·yā·šū·ḇū

and yet when they returned ､

וַיִּזְעָק֔וּךָ

way·yiz·‘ā·qū·ḵā,

and cried out to You

וְאַתָּ֞ה

wə·’at·tāh

and You

– מִשָּׁמַ֧יִם

miš·šā·ma·yim

from heaven –

תִּשְׁמַ֛ע

tiš·ma‘

וְתַצִּילֵ֥ם

wə·ṯaṣ·ṣî·lêm

and You delivered them

– כְּֽרַחֲמֶ֖יךָ

kə·ra·ḥă·me·ḵā

according to Your mercies –

רַבּ֥וֹת

rab·bō·wṯ

. עִתִּֽים׃

‘it·tîm.

וַתָּ֨עַד

wat·tā·‘aḏ

בָּהֶ֜ם

bā·hem

לַהֲשִׁיבָ֣ם

la·hă·šî·ḇām

that You might bring them back

אֶל־

’el-

to

. תּוֹרָתֶ֗ךָ

tō·w·rā·ṯe·ḵā,

וְהֵ֨מָּה

wə·hêm·māh

､ הֵזִ֜ידוּ

hê·zî·ḏū

acted proudly ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and not

שָׁמְע֤וּ

šā·mə·‘ū

､ לְמִצְוֺתֶ֙יךָ֙

lə·miṣ·wō·ṯe·ḵā

Your commandments ､

､ וּבְמִשְׁפָּטֶ֣יךָ

ū·ḇə·miš·pā·ṭe·ḵā

but against Your judgments ､

חָֽטְאוּ־

ḥā·ṭə·’ū-

בָ֔ם

ḇām,

in

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

､ יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה

ya·‘ă·śeh

does ､

אָדָ֖ם

’ā·ḏām

וְחָיָ֣ה

wə·ḥā·yāh

and he shall live

בָהֶ֑ם

ḇā·hem;

וַיִּתְּנ֤וּ

way·yit·tə·nū

and they shrugged

､ כָתֵף֙

ḵā·ṯêp̄

their shoulders ､

סוֹרֶ֔רֶת

sō·w·re·reṯ,

､ וְעָרְפָּ֥ם

wə·‘ā·rə·pām

and their necks ､

הִקְשׁ֖וּ

hiq·šū

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

. שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃

šā·mê·‘ū.

וַתִּמְשֹׁ֤ךְ

wat·tim·šōḵ

And yet You had patience

עֲלֵיהֶם֙

‘ă·lê·hem

with them

שָׁנִ֣ים

šā·nîm

רַבּ֔וֹת

rab·bō·wṯ,

וַתָּ֨עַד

wat·tā·‘aḏ

בָּ֧ם

bām

בְּרוּחֲךָ֛

bə·rū·ḥă·ḵā

בְּיַד־

bə·yaḏ-

in

､ נְבִיאֶ֖יךָ

nə·ḇî·’e·ḵā

Your prophets ､

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

and yet not

– הֶאֱזִ֑ינוּ

he·’ĕ·zî·nū;

they would listen –

וַֽתִּתְּנֵ֔ם

wat·tit·tə·nêm,

therefore You gave them

בְּיַ֖ד

bə·yaḏ

עַמֵּ֥י

‘am·mê

of the peoples of

. הָאֲרָצֹֽת׃

hā·’ă·rā·ṣōṯ.

the lands .

וּֽבְרַחֲמֶ֧יךָ

ū·ḇə·ra·ḥă·me·ḵā

And nevertheless in Your mercy

הָרַבִּ֛ים

hā·rab·bîm

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

עֲשִׂיתָ֥ם

‘ă·śî·ṯām

You did consume them

כָּלָ֖ה

kā·lāh

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

עֲזַבְתָּ֑ם

‘ă·zaḇ·tām;

כִּ֛י

kî

. אֵֽל־

’êl-

חַנּ֥וּן

ḥan·nūn

וְרַח֖וּם

wə·ra·ḥūm

. אָֽתָּה׃

’āt·tāh.

וְעַתָּ֣ה

wə·‘at·tāh

､ אֱ֠לֹהֵינוּ

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū

､ הָאֵ֨ל

hā·’êl

God ､

､ הַגָּד֜וֹל

hag·gā·ḏō·wl

the great ､

､ הַגִּבּ֣וֹר

hag·gib·bō·wr

the mighty ､

וְהַנּוֹרָא֮

wə·han·nō·w·rā

שׁוֹמֵ֣ר

šō·w·mêr

הַבְּרִ֣ית

hab·bə·rîṯ

､ וְהַחֶסֶד֒

wə·ha·ḥe·seḏ

and mercy ､

אַל־

’al-

not

יִמְעַ֣ט

yim·‘aṭ

do let seem small

לְפָנֶ֡יךָ

lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā

אֵ֣ת

’êṯ

-

כָּל־

kāl-

הַתְּלָאָ֣ה

hat·tə·lā·’āh

אֲֽשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

מְ֠צָאַתְנוּ

mə·ṣā·’aṯ·nū

has come upon us

､ לִמְלָכֵ֨ינוּ

lim·lā·ḵê·nū

､ לְשָׂרֵ֧ינוּ

lə·śā·rê·nū

and our princes ､

､ וּלְכֹהֲנֵ֛ינוּ

ū·lə·ḵō·hă·nê·nū

and Our priests ､

､ וְלִנְבִיאֵ֥נוּ

wə·lin·ḇî·’ê·nū

and our prophets ､

､ וְלַאֲבֹתֵ֖ינוּ

wə·la·’ă·ḇō·ṯê·nū

and Our fathers ､

וּלְכָל־

ū·lə·ḵāl-

and on all

､ עַמֶּ֑ךָ

‘am·me·ḵā;

Your people ､

מִימֵי֙

mî·mê

מַלְכֵ֣י

mal·ḵê

of the kings

אַשּׁ֔וּר

’aš·šūr,

עַ֖ד

‘aḏ

הַיּ֥וֹם

hay·yō·wm

. הַזֶּֽה׃

haz·zeh.

וְאַתָּ֣ה

wə·’at·tāh

And However You [are]

צַדִּ֔יק

ṣad·dîq,

עַ֖ל

‘al

in

כָּל־

kāl-

הַבָּ֣א

hab·bā

that has befallen

עָלֵ֑ינוּ

‘ā·lê·nū;

us

כִּֽי־

kî-

､ אֱמֶ֥ת

’ĕ·meṯ

עָשִׂ֖יתָ

‘ā·śî·ṯā

וַאֲנַ֥חְנוּ

wa·’ă·naḥ·nū

but we

– הִרְשָֽׁעְנוּ׃

hir·šā·‘ə·nū.

have done wickedly –

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

､ מְלָכֵ֤ינוּ

mə·lā·ḵê·nū

､ שָׂרֵ֙ינוּ֙

śā·rê·nū

nor our princes ､

､ כֹּהֲנֵ֣ינוּ

kō·hă·nê·nū

Our priests ､

､ וַאֲבֹתֵ֔ינוּ

wa·’ă·ḇō·ṯê·nū,

nor our fathers ､

לֹ֥א

lō

עָשׂ֖וּ

‘ā·śū

､ תּוֹרָתֶ֑ךָ

tō·w·rā·ṯe·ḵā;

וְלֹ֤א

wə·lō

הִקְשִׁ֙יבוּ֙

hiq·šî·ḇū

אֶל־

’el-

מִצְוֺתֶ֔יךָ

miṣ·wō·ṯe·ḵā,

Your commandments

､ וּלְעֵ֣דְוֺתֶ֔יךָ

ū·lə·‘ê·ḏə·wō·ṯe·ḵā,

and Your testimonies ､

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

with which

הַעִידֹ֖תָ

ha·‘î·ḏō·ṯā

. בָּהֶֽם׃

bā·hem.

וְהֵ֣ם

wə·hêm

､ בְּמַלְכוּתָם֩

bə·mal·ḵū·ṯām

in their kingdom ､

וּבְטוּבְךָ֨

ū·ḇə·ṭū·ḇə·ḵā

Or in good [things]

הָרָ֜ב

hā·rāḇ

the many

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נָתַ֣תָּ

nā·ṯa·tā

לָהֶ֗ם

lā·hem,

וּבְאֶ֨רֶץ

ū·ḇə·’e·reṣ

Or in land

הָרְחָבָ֧ה

hā·rə·ḥā·ḇāh

וְהַשְּׁמֵנָ֛ה

wə·haš·šə·mê·nāh

and rich

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נָתַ֥תָּ

nā·ṯa·tā

לִפְנֵיהֶ֖ם

lip̄·nê·hem

לֹ֣א

lō

not

עֲבָד֑וּךָ

‘ă·ḇā·ḏū·ḵā;

have served You

וְֽלֹא־

wə·lō-

שָׁ֔בוּ

šā·ḇū,

מִמַּֽעַלְלֵיהֶ֖ם

mim·ma·‘al·lê·hem

from their works

. הָרָעִֽים׃

hā·rā·‘îm.

､ הִנֵּ֛ה

hin·nêh

Here ､

אֲנַ֥חְנוּ

’ă·naḥ·nū

we [are]

､ הַיּ֖וֹם

hay·yō·wm

עֲבָדִ֑ים

‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm;

וְהָאָ֜רֶץ

wə·hā·’ā·reṣ

and the land

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נָתַ֣תָּה

nā·ṯat·tāh

לַאֲבֹתֵ֗ינוּ

la·’ă·ḇō·ṯê·nū,

לֶאֱכֹ֤ל

le·’ĕ·ḵōl

to eat

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

פִּרְיָהּ֙

pir·yāh

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

טוּבָ֔הּ

ṭū·ḇāh,

､ הִנֵּ֛ה

hin·nêh

Here ､

אֲנַ֥חְנוּ

’ă·naḥ·nū

we [are]

עֲבָדִ֖ים

‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm

. עָלֶֽיהָ׃

‘ā·le·hā.

in it .

וּתְבוּאָתָ֣הּ

ū·ṯə·ḇū·’ā·ṯāh

And [yields] increase

מַרְבָּ֗ה

mar·bāh,

לַמְּלָכִ֛ים

lam·mə·lā·ḵîm

to the kings

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נָתַ֥תָּה

nā·ṯat·tāh

עָלֵ֖ינוּ

‘ā·lê·nū

– בְּחַטֹּאותֵ֑ינוּ

bə·ḥaṭ·ṭō·w·ṯê·nū;

because of our sins –

וְעַ֣ל

wə·‘al

and over

､ גְּ֠וִיֹּתֵינוּ

gə·wî·yō·ṯê·nū

מֹשְׁלִ֤ים

mō·šə·lîm

they have dominion

､ וּבִבְהֶמְתֵּ֙נוּ֙

ū·ḇiḇ·hem·tê·nū

and our cattle ､

､ כִּרְצוֹנָ֔ם

kir·ṣō·w·nām,

at their pleasure ､

. וּבְצָרָ֥ה

ū·ḇə·ṣā·rāh

and in distress .

גְדוֹלָ֖ה

ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh

. אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃

’ă·nā·ḥə·nū.

we [are] .

וּבְכָל־

ū·ḇə·ḵāl

And because of all

זֹ֕את

zōṯ

אֲנַ֛חְנוּ

’ă·naḥ·nū

we

כֹּרְתִ֥ים

kō·rə·ṯîm

אֲמָנָ֖ה

’ă·mā·nāh

a sure [covenant]

וְכֹתְבִ֑ים

wə·ḵō·ṯə·ḇîm;

and write [it]

וְעַל֙

wə·‘al

and

הֶֽחָת֔וּם

he·ḥā·ṯūm,

seal [it]

､ שָׂרֵ֥ינוּ

śā·rê·nū

our leaders ､

､ לְוִיֵּ֖נוּ

lə·wî·yê·nū

our Levites ､

､ כֹּהֲנֵֽינוּ׃

kō·hă·nê·nū.

[and] our priests ､
