"Untie it and bring it here. And if any one asks you, 'Why are you untying the colt?' Simply say, 'The Master needs it.'"
But, on seeing him, the tenants consulted with one another. 'Here is the heir!' they said. 'Let us kill him, and then the inheritance will become ours.'
There was nothing here that they could lay hold of before the people, and marvelling at His answer they said no more.
They said to Him, "Teacher, Moses wrote to us [Deut 25:5] that if a man's brother dies, leaving his widow [behind] without having had any children, his brother should marry his widow and father children [by her]. These children would then be considered his [dead] brother's.
And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
I am sending to you what my Father promised, so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."
[Eventually] this Word became a human being and lived among us [Note: The word "lived" here refers to pitching a temporary tent]. (And we saw His splendor; such splendor as belongs to the Father's only Son), full of God's favor and truth.
Now here is John's testimony. When the Jews of Jerusalem despatched priests and Levites to ask him, "Who are you?"

The woman says to him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst nor come here to draw.
Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
Jesus told her, "You are quite right in saying, "I don't have a husband,' because you have had five husbands, and the man you have now is not your husband. What you have said is true."
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
"Come here, look at a man who has told me everything I ever did! Can he be the Christ?"
For here the proverb holds good--'One sows, another reaps.'
For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet does not receive honor in his own country. [Note: Jesus' reference here to his "own country" means Judea, while in Matt., Mark and Luke it refers to Nazareth].
here am I, come in the name of my Father, and you will not accept me: let someone else come in his own name, and you will accept him!
Philip answered Him, "Not even two hundred coins' worth of bread would be enough to feed them if everyone ate only a little bit." [Note: The amount here indicated was two hundred days of a farm laborer's pay, or about $14,000 in 1994].

The words I have spoken to you are [from the] Holy Spirit and [they give] life.

So Jesus said to them,
You men go [on] up to the festival, but I am not going up yet [Note: Although "yet" appears in only a few manuscripts, it seems to be the proper idea here], because my time has not yet come. [See verse 6].
Look, He is speaking publicly, and they say nothing to Him! Is it possible that the rulers really know that this is the Christ?
I do know him, because I come from him, and he has sent me here."
But He was speaking of the [Holy] Spirit, whom those who believed in Him [as Savior] were to receive afterward. The Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified (raised to honor).
Then the guards went [back] to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why did you not bring Him [here with you]?”
And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
And putting her forward, they said to him, Master, this woman has been taken in the very act of sinning against the married relation.
Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such: what then sayest thou of her?
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
but they who heard that, being convicted by their own conscience, they all went old and young one after another, so that Jesus was left alone with the woman, who still kept her place.
When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Here I am testifying to myself, and the Father who has sent me testifies to me."
Jesus said to them,
The man replied, “Well, this is astonishing! You do not know where He comes from, and yet He opened my eyes!
Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
(It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
"Yes, Lord," she said, "I do believe you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world" ??28 and with these words she went off to call her sister Mary, telling her secretly, "The Teacher is here, and he is calling for you."
And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
