Oh that my grief were actually weighed
And laid in the balances together with my calamity!

Let Him weigh me with accurate scales,
And let God know my integrity.

Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie;
In the balances they go up;
They are together lighter than breath.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand,
And marked off the heavens by the span,
And calculated the dust of the earth by the measure,
And weighed the mountains in a balance
And the hills in a pair of scales?

‘TEKĒL’—you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient.

When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come.” I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand.


So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,

I said to myself, “Come now, I will test you with pleasure. So enjoy yourself.” And behold, it too was futility.

“With reproofs You chasten a man for iniquity;
You consume as a moth what is precious to him;
Surely every man is a mere breath. Selah.

Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher,
Vanity of vanities! All is vanity.”

There is no end to all the people, to all who were before them, and even the ones who will come later will not be happy with him, for this too is vanity and striving after wind.

So, remove grief and anger from your heart and put away pain from your body, because childhood and the prime of life are fleeting.



When Ephraim saw his sickness,
And Judah his wound,
Then Ephraim went to Assyria
And sent to King Jareb.
But he is unable to heal you,
Or to cure you of your wound.

So Ephraim has become like a silly dove, without sense;
They call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.

Do not trust in princes, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish.
