'Life' in the Bible

{To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

The year is crowned with the good you give; life-giving rain is dropping from your footsteps,

Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.

For the choir director; according to Shoshannim. A Psalm of David.Save me, O God,For the waters have threatened my life.

Let them be erased from the book of lifeand not be recorded with the righteous.

The poor will see it and be glad: you who are lovers of God, let your hearts have life.

Let those who seek my lifebe disgraced and confounded;let those who wish me harmbe driven back and humiliated.

For my enemies have spoken against me;And those who watch for my life have consulted together,

Let those who attack my life be ashamed and consumed;Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor, who seek to injure me.

You, who have sent great and bitter troubles on me, will give me life again, lifting me up from the deep waters of the underworld.

My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you, whose life you have redeemed.

May his life go on as long as the sun and moon, through all generations.

He will rescue their life from oppression and violence,And their blood will be precious in his sight;

May he have long life, and may gold from Sheba be given to him: may prayers be made for him at all times; may blessings be on him every day.

Do not give the life of Your dove to beasts;do not forget the lives of Your poor people forever.

He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;

Then we shall not turn back from You;Revive us and we will call on Your name.

Will you not give us life again, so that your people may be glad in you?

Protect my life, for I am faithful.You are my God; save Your servant who trusts in You.

Bring joy to Your servant’s life,because I turn to You, Lord.

For Your faithful love for me is great,and You deliver my life from the depths of Sheol.

God, arrogant people have attacked me;a gang of ruthless men seeks my life.They have no regard for You.

The singers as well as the players of flutes will say,“All my springs and sources of joy are in you [Jerusalem, city of God].”

O Lord, God of my salvation, I have been crying to you for help by day and by night:

For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.

Remember how short my life is.Have You created everyone for nothing?

No man can live on without experiencing death, or deliver his life from the power of Sheol. (Selah)

You end their lives; they sleep.They are like grass that grows in the morning—

As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years,Or if due to strength, eighty years,Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow;For soon it is gone and we fly away.

Who understands the power of Your anger? [Who connects this brevity of life among us with Your judgment of sin?]And Your wrath, [who connects it] with the [reverent] fear that is due You?

With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

They band together against the life of the righteousand condemn the innocent to death.

I will pay attention to living a life of integrity when will I attain it? I will live with integrity of heart in my house.

My eyes are looking at the faithful of the land, so they may live with me; The one who lives a life of integrity will serve me.

My life is like a declining shadow, and I am withering like a plant.

He has taken away my strength in the middle of life; he has cut short my days.

I say: “My God, do not take mein the middle of my life!Your years continue through all generations.

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

who satisfies your life with good things, so your youth is renewed like an eagle's.

A person's life is like grass it blossoms like wild flowers,

If you send out your spirit, they are given life; you make new the face of the earth.

I will sing to the Lord all my life;I will sing praise to my God while I live.

Let his life be short; let another take his position of authority.

He made cursing a way of life, so curses poured into his stomach like water and seeped into his bones like oil.

Let this be the reward of my attackers from the Lord,And of those who speak evil against my life.

because he stands at the right hand of the needy, to deliver him from those who threaten his life.

Then I called upon the name of the Lord:“O Lord, I beseech You, save my life!”

Yes, Lord, you rescued my life from death, and kept my feet from stumbling.

Life and not death will be my part, and I will give out the story of the works of the Lord.

How blessed are those whose life is blameless, who walk in the Law of the LORD!

(Bet) How can a young person maintain a pure life? By guarding it according to your instructions!

I will meditate on Your preceptsAnd [thoughtfully] regard Your ways [the path of life established by Your precepts].

Give me, your servant, the reward of life, so that I may keep your word;

ד DaletMy life is down in the dust;give me life through Your word.

I told You about my life,and You listened to me;teach me Your statutes.

My soul dissolves because of grief;Renew and strengthen me according to [the promises of] Your word.

Help me live my life by your commands, because my joy is in them.

Turn my eyesfrom looking at what is worthless;give me life in Your ways.

How I long for Your precepts!Give me life through Your righteousness.

This is my comfort in my affliction:Your promise has given me life.

Your statutes are the theme of my songduring my earthly life.

Let your gentle mercies come to me, so that I may have life; for your law is my delight.

How short is the life of your servant! when will you give your decision against those who are attacking me?

They almost ended my life on earth,but I did not abandon Your precepts.

Give me life in accordance with Your faithful love,and I will obey the decree You have spoken.

I will never forget Your precepts,for You have given me life through them.

I am severely afflicted;Lord, give me life through Your word.

My life is constantly in danger,yet I do not forget Your instruction.

Be my support as you have said, and give me life; let not my hope be turned to shame.

The righteousness of your unchanging word is eternal; give me wisdom so that I may have life.

In keeping with Your faithful love, hear my voice.Lord, give me life in keeping with Your justice.

Defend my cause and redeem me;give me life as You promised.

Your compassions are many, Lord;give me life according to Your judgments.

Consider how I love Your precepts;Lord, give me life according to Your faithful love.

Give life to my soul so that it may give you praise; and let your decisions be my support.

"Deliver my life, O Yahweh, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue."

Too long my soul has had its dwellingWith those who hate peace.

The Lord will protect you from all harm;He will protect your life.

Our soul is greatly filledWith the scoffing of those who are at ease,And with the contempt of the proud [who disregard God’s law].

The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.

As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

If I walk into the thick of danger,You will preserve my lifefrom the anger of my enemies.You will extend Your hand;Your right hand will save me.

You scrutinize my life and my rest; you are familiar with all of my ways.

Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;And in Your book were all writtenThe days that were appointed for me,When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape].

For my eyes are toward You, O God, the Lord;In You I take refuge; do not pour out my life nor leave me defenseless.

Look to the right and see! No one cares about me. I have nowhere to run; no one is concerned about my life.

“Bring my soul out of prison (adversity),So that I may give thanks and praise Your name;The righteous will surround me [in triumph],For You will look after me.”

For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

For the sake of your name, LORD, preserve my life. Because you are righteous, bring me out of trouble.

As a demonstration of your loyal love, destroy my enemies! Annihilate all who threaten my life, for I am your servant.

I will praise the Lord all my life;I will sing to my God as long as I live.

Let everything that has breath and every breath of life praise the Lord!Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)

For their feet are running after evil, and they are quick to take a man's life.

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

This will give strength to your flesh, and new life to your bones.

Long life is in her right hand;in her left, riches and honor.

She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
