'Live' in the Bible
Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
Remain in Me, and I [will remain] in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself without remaining in the vine, neither can you [bear fruit, producing evidence of your faith] unless you remain in Me.
If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.
If you keep My commandments and obey My teaching, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.
They kept coming up to him and saying, "Long live the king of the Jews!" Then they began to slap him on the face.
Jesus replied, "If I want him to live until I come back, what concern is that of yours? You follow me!"
So the saying circulated among the brothers and sisters that this disciple was not going to die. But Jesus did not say to him that he was not going to die, but rather, "If I want him to live until I come back, what concern is that of yours?"
And it became known to all who live in Jerusalem, so that that field was called in their own language "Akeldama," that is, "Field of Blood.")
“For it is written in the Book of Psalms:Let his dwelling become desolate;let no one live in it; andLet someone else take his position.
Parthians, Medes, Elamites; those who live in Mesopotamia, in Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: “Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words.
Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue rejoiced; my body also will live in hope,
saying, “What should we do with these men? For an obvious sign, evident to all who live in Jerusalem, has been done through them, and we cannot deny it!
And he answered, “Brothers and fathers, listen to me! The God of glory [the Shekinah, the radiance of God] appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,
“Then he came out of the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. From there, after his father died, God had him move to this land you now live in.
God spoke in this way: that his seed would live as aliens in a strange land, and that they would be enslaved and mistreated for four hundred years.
The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.
"Alarmed at this question, Moses fled from the country and went to live in the land of Midian. There he became the father of two sons.
This is the one who was in the congregation in the wilderness together with the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and who was with our fathers; and he received living oracles [divine words that still live] to be handed down to you.
However, the Most High does not live in buildings made by human hands. As the prophet says,
So the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria enjoyed peace. As it continued to be built up and to live in the fear of the Lord, it kept increasing in numbers through the encouragement of the Holy Spirit.
but that in every nation those who fear Him and live good lives are acceptable to Him.
For the people who live in Jerusalem and their leaders, not knowing who Jesus was, condemned him and so fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.
The God who made the world and everything in it—He is Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in shrines made by hands.
From one man He has made every nationality to live over the whole earth and has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they live.
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
They have been informed about you -- that you teach all the Jews now living among the Gentiles to abandon Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs.
take them and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may have their heads shaved. Then everyone will know there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself live in conformity with the law.
A man named Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well spoken of by all the Jews who live there,
And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.
And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
but I openly proclaimed first to those at Damascus, then at Jerusalem and throughout the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they should repent [change their inner self—their old way of thinking] and turn to God, doing deeds and living lives which are consistent with repentance.
And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
When we came into Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself with the soldier who was guarding him.
That is why I am so eager to proclaim the gospel to you who live in Rome, too.
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
but wrath and anger to those who live in selfish ambition and do not obey the truth but follow unrighteousness.
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Therefore, through baptism we were buried with him into his death so that, just as the Messiah was raised from the dead by the Father's glory, we too may live an entirely new life.
Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
What then [are we to conclude]? Shall we sin because we are not under Law, but under [God’s] grace? Certainly not!
For I know that good does not live in me, that is, in my flesh. For the willing is present in me, but the doing [of] the good [is] not.
Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior].
so that the righteous requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not live according to human nature but according to the Spirit.
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
For from Him [all things originate] and through Him [all things live and exist] and to Him are all things [directed]. To Him be glory and honor forever! Amen.
Live in harmony with each other. Do not be arrogant, but associate with humble people. Do not think that you are wiser than you really are.
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
For the authorities are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you like to live without being afraid of the authorities? Then do what is right, and you will receive their approval.
Let's behave decently, as people who live in the light of day. No wild parties, drunkenness, sexual immorality, promiscuity, quarreling, or jealousy!
For none of us to himself doth live, and none to himself doth die;
For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Now may God, the source of endurance and encouragement, allow you to live in harmony with each other as you follow the Messiah Jesus,
for you are still fleshly. For where [there is] jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and do you not live like [unregenerate] people?
That's why I sent Timothy to you. He is my dear and dependable son in the Lord and will help you remember how I live for the Messiah Jesus as I teach everywhere in every church.
But I (not the Lord) say to the rest: If any brother has an unbelieving wife and she is willing to live with him, he must not leave her.
Also, if any woman has an unbelieving husband and he is willing to live with her, she must not leave her husband.
But if the unbelieving partner leaves, let him go. In such cases the brother or sister is not under obligation. God has called you to live in peace.
However, each one must live his life in the situation the Lord assigned when God called him. This is what I command in all the churches.
This is what I mean, brothers: The time is short. From now on, those who have wives should live as though they had none,
A wife hath been bound by law as long time as her husband may live, and if her husband may sleep, she is free to be married to whom she will -- only in the Lord;
yet for us there is only one God, the Father, from whom everything came into being and for whom we live. And there is only one Lord, Jesus the Messiah, through whom everything came into being and through whom we live.
Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
[For that matter] why are we [running such risks and putting ourselves] in danger [nearly] every hour [if there is no resurrection]?
Wake from this drunken fit; live righteous lives, and cease to sin; for some have no knowledge of God: I speak thus in order to move you to shame.
For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
We know that if the earthly tent we live in is torn down, we have a building in heaven that comes from God, an eternal house not built by human hands.
For we live by faith, not by sight.
We are confident, then, and would prefer to be away from this body and to live with the Lord.
And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;
What agreement can a temple of God make with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, just as God said: "I will live and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people."
I speak not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that ye are in our hearts to die and live with you.
For though we live as human beings, we do not wage war according to human standards,
For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
So understand that it is the people who live by faith [with confidence in the power and goodness of God] who are [the true] sons of Abraham.
For all who depend on the Law [seeking justification and salvation by obedience to the Law and the observance of rituals] are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed (condemned to destruction) is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, so as to practice them.”
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Tell me, those of you who want to live under the Law: Are you really listening to what the Law says?
So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will never fulfill the desires of the flesh.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Now may peace be on all those who live by this principle, and may mercy be on the Israel of God.
so that we who had already fixed our hope on the Messiah might live for his praise and glory.
even being dead in the trespasses, did make us to live together with the Christ, (by grace ye are having been saved,)
For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, urge you to live in a way that is worthy of the calling to which you have been called,
Therefore, I tell you and insist on in the Lord not to live any longer like the gentiles live, thinking worthless thoughts.
Live lovingly, just as the Messiah also loved us and gave himself for us as an offering and sacrifice, a fragrant aroma to God.
For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light,
Live and act as sons of Light--for the effect of the Light is seen in every kind of goodness, uprightness and truth--
