1 And after that, David beat the Philistines and subdued them, and took Gath and the towns that belonged thereto, out of the hands of the Philistines.

5 Then came the Syrians of Damascus to help Hadadezer king of Zobah. And David slew of the Syrians twenty two thousand,

6 and put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: And the Syrians became David's servants and brought him tribute. For the LORD helped David in all that he went to.

8 Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
8 From Tibhath and Cun, Hadadezer’s cities, David also took huge quantities of bronze, from which Solomon made the bronze reservoir, the pillars, and the bronze articles.(D)
8 David also confiscated a vast quantity of bronze from Tibhath and Cun, cities under Hadadezer's control. Later on, Solomon crafted the bronze sea, the pillars, and the bronze vessels for the Temple.
9 And when Thou king of Hamath, heard how David had beat all the host of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
9 Now when (h)Tou king of Hamath heard that David had (i)defeated all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
9 Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;

10 he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to salute him and to bless him, because he had fought with Hadadezer and beaten him - for Thou had war with Hadadezer - and sent all manner of Jewels of gold, silver and brass with him.

11 King David also dedicated these to the Lord with the silver and the gold which he had carried away from all the nations: from Edom, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Philistines, and from Amalek.

12 And Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the salt valley eighteen thousand,
12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.
12 Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
12 Zeruiah's son Abishai killed 18,000 Edomites in the Salt Valley.
13 and put Soldiers in Edom, and all Edom became David's servants: for the LORD kept David in all that he took in hand.
13 Then he put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the Lord helped David wherever he went.

17 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites and the eldest sons of David waited at the king's hand.
17 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and the sons of David were chiefs at the king’s side.
17 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.
17 Benaiah son of Jehoiada(H) was overthe Cherethites and the Pelethites;and David’s sons were the chief officials at the king’s side.
17 Jehoiada's son Benaiah supervised the special forces and mercenaries, while David's sons worked as chief officials in service to the king.
