Then the men of Judah raised a war cry, and when the men of Judah raised the war cry, then it was that God

routed Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

When they began singing and praising, the Lord

set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were routed.

He caused their chariot wheels to swerve, and He made them drive with difficulty; so the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from Israel, for the Lord is fighting for them against the Egyptians.”

“The Lord shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you; they will come out against you one way and will flee before you seven ways.

‘See now that I, I am He,

And there is no god besides Me;

It is I who put to death and give life.

I have wounded and it is I who heal,

And there is no one who can deliver from My hand.

And the Lord confounded them before Israel, and He slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and pursued them by the way of the ascent of Beth-horon and struck them as far as Azekah and Makkedah.

Through God we shall do valiantly,

And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.

To Him who smote great kings,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air;

but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
