if I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and do what I request, may the king and Haman come to the banquet which I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king says.”

Could not the king sleep

Now in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar

had dreams; and his spirit was troubled and his sleep left him.

Then the king went off to his palace and spent the night fasting, and no entertainment was brought before him; and his sleep fled from him.

Now when the plot was investigated and found to be so, they were both hanged on a gallows; and it was written in the Book of the Chronicles in the king’s presence.

Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord

gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who esteem His name.
