And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

God said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years.

But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, from Egypt, to be a people for His own possession, as today.

You made men ride over our heads;
We went through fire and through water,
Yet You brought us out into a place of abundance.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.

But the Lord was pleased
To crush Him,

putting Him to grief;

If He would render Himself as a guilt offering,
He will see His offspring,
He will prolong His days,
And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.

The satraps, the prefects, the governors and the king’s high officials gathered around and saw in regard to these men that the fire had no effect on the bodies of these men nor was the hair of their head singed, nor were their

trousers damaged, nor had the smell of fire even come upon them.

“Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd,
And against the man, My Associate,”
Declares the Lord of hosts.
“Strike the Shepherd that the sheep may be scattered;
And I will turn My hand against the little ones.

And the Word became flesh, and

dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

For what the Law could not do,

weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,

For we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in

Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life;
