The Lord

appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.

Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him,
“I am God Almighty;

Now the Lord appeared to him by the

oaks of Mamre, while he was sitting at the tent door in the heat of the day.

appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Egypt;

stay in the land of which I shall tell you.

And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants.

Then the Lord said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your fathers and to your relatives, and I will be with you.”

Now as Jacob went on his way, the angels of God met him.

Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and live there, and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

God spoke to Israel in visions of the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here I am.”

Then Jacob said to Joseph, “

God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me,

The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying,
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.

Yes, he wrestled with the angel and prevailed;
He wept and sought His favor.
He found Him at Bethel
And there He spoke with us,

And he said, “Hear me, brethren and fathers! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,
