10 Seven days later the waters of the flood came on the earth.

10 Seven days later, the flooding started.

10 And after the seven days [God released the rain and] the floodwaters came on the earth.

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

11 In the (K)six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all (L)the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the (j)floodgates of the sky were opened.

12 (M)The rain (k)fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.

12 and the rain fell on the earth 40 days and 40 nights.

12 and it rained throughout the earth for 40 days and 40 nights.

12 It rained on the earth for forty days and forty nights.

13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;

13 On the very same day (N)Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark,

13 On that same day Noah along with his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah’s wife, and his three sons’ wives entered the ark with him.

14 they and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after (l)their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, (m)all sorts of birds.

14 They entered it with all the wildlife according to their kinds, all livestock according to their kinds, the creatures that crawl on the earth according to their kinds, all birds, every fowl, and everything with wings according to their kinds.

14 along with every species of wild animal, livestock, crawling creature, bird, and every creature that has wings.

15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.

15 So they went into the ark to Noah, (O)by twos of all flesh in which was the breath of life.

15 Two of all flesh that has the breath of life in it entered the ark with Noah.

15 Two of each living creature entered the ark with Noah.

15 So they went into the ark with Noah, two by two of all living beings in which there was the breath and spirit of life.

16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.

16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the Lord closed it behind him.

16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered just as God had commanded him. Then the Lord shut him in.

17 The flood continued throughout the earth for 40 days, while the flood waters increased, lifting the ark so that it rose above the surface of the earth.

17 The flood [the great downpour of rain] was forty days and nights on the earth; and the waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it floated [high] above the land.

18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.

18 The water prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark (o)floated on the (p)surface of the water.

18 The waters surged and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water.

18 The flood waters continued to surge, increasing throughout the earth, while the ark floated on the surface of the flood water.

18 The waters became mighty and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the waters.

19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.

19 The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains (q)everywhere under the heavens were covered.

19 Then the waters surged even higher on the earth, and all the high mountains under the whole sky were covered.

19 The flood water surged even higher throughout the earth, until all the highest mountains under the sky were covered.

19 The waters prevailed so greatly and were so mighty and overwhelming on the earth, so that all the high mountains everywhere under the heavens were covered.

20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

20 The water prevailed fifteen (r)cubits higher, (Q)and the mountains were covered.

20 The mountains were covered as the waters surged above them more than 20 feet.(a)

20 The flood waters rose 15 cubits above the mountains.

20 [In fact] the waters became (c)fifteen cubits higher [than the highest ground], and the mountains were covered.

21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:

21 (R)All flesh that (s)moved on the earth perished, birds and cattle and beasts and every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind;

21 Every creature perished—those that crawl on the earth, birds, livestock, wildlife, and those that swarm(b) on the earth, as well as all mankind.

21 Every living thing on earth died flying creatures, livestock, wildlife, all creatures that swarm over the earth, and all human beings.

21 All living beings that moved on the earth perished—birds and cattle (domestic animals), [wild] animals, all things that swarm and crawl on the earth, and all mankind.

22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.

22 of all that was on the dry land, all (S)in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died.

22 Everything that breathed and everything that had lived on dry land died.

22 Everything on the dry land, all in whose nostrils was the breath and spirit of life, died.

23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

23 Thus He blotted out (t)every living thing that was upon the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the (u)sky, and they were blotted out from the earth; and only (T)Noah was left, together with those that were with him in the ark.

23 He wiped out every living thing that was on the surface of the ground, from mankind to livestock, to creatures that crawl, to the birds of the sky, and they were wiped off the earth. Only Noah was left, and those that were with him in the ark.(G)

23 All existing creatures that had lived on the surface of the ground were annihilated, from humans to livestock, from crawling creatures to birds of the sky. They were wiped off the earth. Only Noah remained, along with those who were with him in the ark.

23 God destroyed (blotted out, wiped away) every living thing that was on the surface of the earth; man and animals and the crawling things and the birds of the heavens were destroyed from the land. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive.(E)

24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

24 (U)The water prevailed upon the earth one hundred and fifty days.

24 And the waters surged on the earth 150 days.

24 The flood waters surged over the earth for 150 days.
