Frustrateth

“Stand fast now in your spells
And in your many sorceries
With which you have labored from your youth;
Perhaps you will be able to profit,
Perhaps you may cause trembling.

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made horns of iron for himself and said, “Thus says the Lord, ‘With these you will gore the Arameans until they are consumed.’”

All the prophets were prophesying thus, saying, “Go up to Ramoth-gilead and succeed, for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.”

But as for you, do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your dreamers, your soothsayers or your sorcerers who speak to you, saying, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon.’

The prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet comes to pass, then that prophet will be known as one whom the Lord has truly sent.”

“A sword against the oracle priests, and they will become fools!
A sword against her mighty men, and they will be

shattered!

Maketh

The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians as well as on all the Egyptians.

As for every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king consulted them, he found them ten times better than all the

magicians and conjurers who were in all his realm.

The Chaldeans answered the king and said, “There is not a man on earth who could declare the matter for the king, inasmuch as no great king or ruler has ever asked anything like this of any

magician, conjurer or Chaldean.

Then the

magicians, the conjurers, the Chaldeans and the diviners came in and I related the dream to them, but they could not make its interpretation known to me.

Then the king’s

face grew pale and his thoughts alarmed him, and his hip joints went slack and his knees began knocking together.

The princes of

Zoan are mere fools;

The advice of Pharaoh’s wisest advisers has become stupid.
How can you men say to Pharaoh,
“I am a son of the wise, a son of ancient kings”?

Therefore behold, I will once again deal marvelously with this people, wondrously marvelous;
And the wisdom of their wise men will perish,
And the discernment of their discerning men will be concealed.”

Now someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, I pray, make the counsel of Ahithophel foolishness.”

The advice of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if one inquired of the word of God; so was all the advice of Ahithophel regarded by both David and Absalom.

Now when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey and arose and went to his home, to his city, and

set his house in order, and strangled himself; thus he died and was buried in the grave of his father.

“He frustrates the plotting of the shrewd,
So that their hands cannot attain success.

The Lord

nullifies the counsel of the nations;

He frustrates the plans of the peoples.

Concerning Edom.
Thus says the Lord of hosts,
“Is there no longer any wisdom in Teman?
Has good counsel been lost to the prudent?
Has their wisdom decayed?

“I will make her princes and her wise men drunk,
Her governors, her prefects and her mighty men,
That they may sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake up,”

Declares the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts.

Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, “He is the one who catches the wise in their craftiness”;
