The Fertile Wife Of Yahweh

1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.

1 (A)Shout for joy, O barren one, you who have borne no child;Break forth into joyful shouting and cry aloud, you who have not travailed;For the sons of the (B)desolate one will be (C)more numerousThan the sons of the married woman,” says the Lord.

1 “Rejoice, childless one, who did not give birth;burst into song and shout,you who have not been in labor!(A)For the children of the forsaken one will be morethan the children of the married woman,”(B)says the Lord.

1 "Sing, you barren woman, even the one who never bore a child! Burst into song and shout for joy, even you who were never in labor! For the children of the desolate woman will be more than the children of her that is married," says the LORD.

1 “Shout for joy, O barren one, she who has not given birth;Break forth into joyful shouting and rejoice, she who has not gone into labor [with child]!For the [spiritual] sons of the desolate one will be more numerousThan the sons of the married woman,” says the Lord.(A)

2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;

2 (D)Enlarge the place of your tent;(a)Stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, spare not;Lengthen your (E)cordsAnd strengthen your (F)pegs.

2 “Enlarge the site of your tent,and let your tent curtains be stretched out;(C)do not hold back;lengthen your ropes,and drive your pegs deep.

2 "Enlarge the location of your tent, let the curtains of your dwellings be stretched wide, and don't hold back. Lengthen your cords; strengthen your stakes.

2 “Enlarge the site of your tent [to make room for more children];Stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, do not spare them;Lengthen your tent ropesAnd make your pegs (stakes) firm [in the ground].

3 For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

3 “For you will (G)spread abroad to the right and to the left.And your (b)descendants will (H)possess nationsAnd will (I)resettle the desolate cities.

3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left,(D)and your descendants will dispossess nationsand inhabit the desolate cities.

3 For you will spread out to the right hand and to the left, and your descendants will possess the nations and will populate the deserted towns.

3 “For you will spread out to the right and to the left;And your descendants will take possession of nationsAnd will inhabit deserted cities.

4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.

4 “Fear not, for you will (J)not be put to shame;And do not feel humiliated, for you will not be disgraced;But you will forget the (K)shame of your youth,And the (L)reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more.

4 “Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to shame;(E)don’t be humiliated, for you will not be disgraced.For you will forget the shame of your youth,and you will no longer rememberthe disgrace of your widowhood.(F)

4 "Don't be afraid, because you won't be ashamed; don't fear shame, for you won't be humiliated because you will forget the disgrace of your youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more.

4 “Do not fear, for you will not be put to shame,And do not feel humiliated or ashamed, for you will not be disgraced.For you will forget the shame of your youth,And you will no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood.

5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

5 “For your (M)husband is your Maker,Whose name is the Lord of hosts;And your (N)Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel,Who is called the (O)God of all the earth.

5 Indeed, your husband is your Maker(G)His name is Yahweh of Hosts—and the Holy One of Israel(H) is your Redeemer;(I)He is called the God of all the earth.

5 For your Maker is your husband; the LORD of the Heavenly Armies is his name, and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of the whole earth.

5 “For your husband is your Maker,The Lord of hosts is His name;And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel,Who is called the God of the whole earth.

6 For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.

6 “For the Lord has called you,Like a wife (P)forsaken and grieved in spirit,Even like a wife of one’s youth when she is rejected,”Says your God.

6 For the Lord has called you,like a wife deserted and wounded in spirit,(J)a wife of one’s youth(K) when she is rejected,”says your God.

6 For the LORD has called you back like a wife deserted and grieved in spirit, like the wife of a man's youth when she is cast off," says the LORD your God.

6 “For the Lord has called you,Like a wife who has been abandoned, grieved in spirit,And like a wife [married] in her youth when she is [later] rejected and scorned,”Says your God.

7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

7 (c)For a (Q)brief moment I forsook you,But with great compassion I will (R)gather you.

7 “I deserted you for a brief moment,(L)but I will take you back with great compassion.

7 "For a brief moment I abandoned you; but I'll gather you with great compassion.

7 “For a brief moment I abandoned you,But with great compassion and mercy I will gather you [to Myself again].

8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.

8 “In an (d)(S)outburst of angerI hid My face from you for a moment,But with everlasting (T)lovingkindness I will (U)have compassion on you,”Says the Lord your (V)Redeemer.

8 In a surge of angerI hid My face(M) from you for a moment,but I will have compassion on youwith everlasting love,”(N)says the Lord your Redeemer.

8 I hid my face from you for a moment in a surge of anger, but I will have compassion on you with my everlasting gracious love," says the LORD your Redeemer.

8 “In an outburst of wrathI hid My face from you for a moment,But with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,”Says the Lord your Redeemer.

9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.

9 “For (e)this is like the days of Noah to Me,When I swore that the waters of NoahWould (W)not (f)flood the earth again;So I have sworn that I will (X)not be angry with youNor will I rebuke you.

9 “For this is like the days(a) of Noah to Me:when I swore that the waters of Noahwould never flood the earth again,(O)so I have sworn that I will not be angry with youor rebuke you.(P)

9 "For this is like the waters of Noah to me, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again spread over the earth; so have I sworn that I won't be angry with you again and that I won't rebuke you.

9 “For this is like the waters of Noah to Me,As I swore [an oath] that the waters of NoahWould not flood the earth again;In the same way I have sworn that I will not be angry with youNor will I rebuke you.

10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.

10 “For the (Y)mountains may be removed and the hills may shake,But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you,And My (Z)covenant of peace will not be shaken,”Says (AA)the Lord who has compassion on you.

10 Though the mountains moveand the hills shake,My love will not be removed from youand My covenant of peace(Q) will not be shaken,”says your compassionate Lord.

10 For the mountains may collapse and the hills may reel, but my gracious love will not depart from you, neither will my covenant of peace totter," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

10 “For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake,But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you,Nor will My covenant of peace be shaken,”Says the Lord who has compassion on you.

The Future Jerusalem

11 O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.

11 “O (AB)afflicted one, storm-tossed, and (AC)not comforted,Behold, I will set your stones in antimony,And your foundations I will (AD)lay in (g)(AE)sapphires.

11 “Poor Jerusalem, storm-tossed, and not comforted,I will set your stones in black mortar,(b)and lay your foundations in sapphires.(c)(R)

11 "O afflicted one, passed back and forth, and not comforted, Look! I am about to set your stones in antimony, and lay your foundations with sapphires.

11 “O you afflicted [city], storm-tossed, and not comforted,Listen carefully, I will set your [precious] stones in mortar,And lay your foundations with sapphires.

12 And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.

12 “Moreover, I will make your battlements of (h)rubies,And your gates of (i)crystal,And your entire (j)wall of precious stones.

12 I will make your fortifications(d) out of rubies,your gates out of sparkling stones,and all your walls out of precious stones.

12 And I'll make your battlements of rubies, and your gates of jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.

12 “And I will make your battlements of rubies,And your gates of [shining] beryl stones,And all your [barrier] (a)walls of precious stones.(B)

13 And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

13 (AF)All your sons will be (k)taught of the Lord;And the well-being of your sons will be (AG)great.

13 Then all your children will be taught by the Lord,(S)their prosperity will be great,

13 Then all your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be your children's prosperity.

13 “And all your [spiritual] sons will be disciples [of the Lord],And great will be the (b)well-being of your sons.(C)

14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

14 “In (AH)righteousness you will be established;You will be far from (AI)oppression, for you will (AJ)not fear;And from (AK)terror, for it will not come near you.

14 and you will be establishedon a foundation of righteousness.You will be far from oppression,you will certainly not be afraid;you will be far from terror,it will certainly not come near you.

14 "In righteousness you'll be established; you will be far from tyranny, for you won't be afraid, and from terror, for it won't come near you.

14 “You will be firmly established in righteousness:You will be far from [even the thought of] oppression, for you will not fear,And from terror, for it will not come near you.

15 Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.

15 “If anyone fiercely assails you it will not be from Me.(AL)Whoever assails you will fall because of you.

15 If anyone attacks you,it is not from Me;whoever attacks youwill fall before you.

15 Watch! If anyone does attack you, it will not be from me; whoever may attack you will fall because of you.

15 “If anyone fiercely attacks you it will not be from Me.Whoever attacks you will fall because of you.

16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.

16 “Behold, I Myself have created the smith who blows the fire of coalsAnd brings out a weapon for its work;And I have created the destroyer to ruin.

16 Look, I have created the craftsmanwho blows on the charcoal fireand produces a weapon suitable for its task;and I have created the destroyer to cause havoc.

16 Look! It is I who have created the blacksmith who fans coals in the fire, and produces a weapon for his purpose. It is I who have created the ravager to wreak havoc;

16 “Listen carefully, I have created the smith who blows on the fire of coalsAnd who produces a weapon for its purpose;And I have created the destroyer to inflict ruin.

17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

17 (AM)No weapon that is formed against you will prosper;And (AN)every tongue that (l)accuses you in judgment you will condemn.This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,And their (AO)vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord.

17 No weapon formed against you will succeed,and you will refute any accusation(e)raised against you in court.This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants,(T)and their righteousness is from Me.”(U)This is the Lord’s declaration.

17 no weapon that is forged against you will be effective. This is the heritage of the LORD's servants, and their righteousness from me," says the LORD.

17 “No weapon that is formed against you will succeed;And every tongue that rises against you in judgment you will condemn.This [peace, righteousness, security, and triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,And this is their vindication from Me,” says the Lord.
