2 "Should the one who is fighting the Almighty find fault with him? Let God's accuser answer."
2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
2 Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him?Let him who argues with God give an answer.(a)
2 “Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty?Let him who disputes with God answer it.”
8 Indeed would you annul my justice and condemn me, just so you can claim that you're righteous?
8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
8 “Will you really annul My judgment and set it aside as void? Will you condemn Me [your God] that you may [appear to] be righteous and justified?
10 "When you have adorned yourself with exalted majesty, clothed yourself with splendor and dignity,
10 Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
10 “Adorn yourself with eminence and dignity [since you question the Almighty],And array yourself with honor and majesty.
11 dispensed the fury of your anger, made sure that you have humbled every proud person,
11 “Pour out (M)the overflowings of your anger,And look on everyone who is (N)proud, and make him low.
11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
11 “Pour out the overflowings of your wrath,And look at everyone who is proud and make him low.
12 stared down and subdued every proud person, trampled the wicked right where they are,
12 “Look on everyone who is proud, and (O)humble him,And (P)tread down the wicked (a)where they stand.
12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
12 Look at everyone who is proud, and humble him,And [if you are so able] tread down the wicked where they stand.
14 then I will applaud you myself! I'll admit that you can deliver yourself by your own efforts!"
14 Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
14 “[If you can do all this, Job, proving your divine power] then I [God] will also praise you and acknowledgeThat your own right hand can save you.
16 Now take a look at the strength that he has in his loins, and in the muscles of his abdomen.
16 “Behold now, his strength in his loinsAnd his power in the muscles of his belly.
16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
16 Look at the strength of his loinsand the power in the muscles of his belly.
16 “See now, his strength is in his loinsAnd his power is in the muscles and sinews of his belly.
17 His tail protrudes stiffly, like cedar; the sinews of his thigh interlink for strength.
17 “He bends his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are knit together.
17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
17 He stiffens his tail like a cedar tree;the tendons of his thighs are woven firmly together.
17 “He sways his tail like a cedar; The tendons of his thighs are twisted and knit together [like a rope].
19 He is the grandest of God's undertakings, yet his creator is approaching him with his sword.
19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
19 “He is the first [in magnitude and power] of the works of God;[Only] He who made him can bring near His sword [to master him].
20 Mountains produce food for him, where all the wild animals frolic.
20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
20 The hills yield food for him, while all sorts of wild animals play there.
20 “Surely the mountains bring him food,And all the wild animals play there.
21 He lies under the lotus trees, hiding under reeds and marshes.
21 “Under the lotus plants he lies down,In the covert of the reeds and the marsh.
21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
21 “He lies down under the lotus plants,In the hidden shelter of the reeds in the marsh.
22 The lotus trees cover him with their shade, and willows that line the wadis surround him.
22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
22 Lotus plants cover him with their shade;the willows by the brook surround him.
22 “The lotus plants cover him with their shade; The willows of the brook surround him.
23 What you see as a raging river doesn't alarm him; he is confident when the Jordan overflows.
23 “If a river (h)rages, he is not alarmed; He is confident, though the (W)Jordan rushes to his mouth.
23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
23 Though the river rages, Behemoth is unafraid;he remains confident, even if the Jordan surges up to his mouth.
23 “If a river rages and overflows, he does not tremble; He is confident, though the Jordan [River] swells and rushes against his mouth.
