Behold

For a thousand years in Your sight
Are like yesterday when it passes by,

Or as a watch in the night.

So Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The

years of my sojourning are one hundred and thirty; few and unpleasant have been the years of my life, nor have they attained the years that my fathers lived during the days of their sojourning.”

“My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle,
And come to an end without hope.

“Now my days are swifter than a runner;
They flee away, they see no good.

“Man, who is born of woman,
Is short-lived and full of turmoil.

Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.

As nothing

Remember what my span of life is;

For what vanity You have created all the sons of men!

But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.

“With reproofs You chasten a man for iniquity;
You consume as a moth what is precious to him;
Surely every man is a mere breath. Selah.

Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie;
In the balances they go up;
They are together lighter than breath.

Man is like a mere breath;

His days are like a passing shadow.

Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher,

“Vanity of vanities! All is vanity.”

Thus I considered all my activities which my hands had done and the labor which I had exerted, and behold all was

vanity and striving after wind and there was no profit under the sun.

All the nations are as nothing before Him,

They are regarded by Him as less than nothing and meaningless.
