וּזְכֹר֙

ū·zə·ḵōr

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

בּ֣וֹרְאֶ֔יךָ

bō·wr·’e·ḵā,

בִּימֵ֖י

bî·mê

in the days

､ בְּחוּרֹתֶ֑יךָ

bə·ḥū·rō·ṯe·ḵā;

of your youth ､

עַ֣ד

‘aḏ

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

､ לֹא־

lō-

not ､

יָבֹ֙אוּ֙

yā·ḇō·’ū

יְמֵ֣י

yə·mê

הָֽרָעָ֔ה

hā·rā·‘āh,

､ וְהִגִּ֣יעוּ

wə·hig·gî·‘ū

and draw near ､

שָׁנִ֔ים

šā·nîm,

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ תֹּאמַ֔ר

tō·mar,

אֵֽין־

’ên-

לִ֥י

lî

בָהֶ֖ם

ḇā·hem

. חֵֽפֶץ׃

ḥê·p̄eṣ.

עַ֠ד

‘aḏ

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

’ă·šer

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

､ תֶחְשַׁ֤ךְ

ṯeḥ·šaḵ

Are darkened ､

､ הַשֶּׁ֙מֶשׁ֙

haš·še·meš

the sun ､

､ וְהָא֔וֹר

wə·hā·’ō·wr,

and the light ､

､ וְהַיָּרֵ֖חַ

wə·hay·yā·rê·aḥ

and the moon ､

､ וְהַכּוֹכָבִ֑ים

wə·hak·kō·w·ḵā·ḇîm;

and the stars ､

וְשָׁ֥בוּ

wə·šā·ḇū

and do not return

הֶעָבִ֖ים

he·‘ā·ḇîm

אַחַ֥ר

’a·ḥar

– הַגָּֽשֶׁם׃

hag·gā·šem.

the rain –

בַּיּ֗וֹם

bay·yō·wm,

in the day

､ שֶׁיָּזֻ֙עוּ֙

še·yā·zu·‘ū

when tremble ､

שֹׁמְרֵ֣י

šō·mə·rê

הַבַּ֔יִת

hab·ba·yiṯ,

of the house

､ וְהִֽתְעַוְּת֖וּ

wə·hiṯ·‘aw·wə·ṯū

and bow down ､

אַנְשֵׁ֣י

’an·šê

הֶחָ֑יִל

he·ḥā·yil;

וּבָטְל֤וּ

ū·ḇā·ṭə·lū

הַטֹּֽחֲנוֹת֙

haṭ·ṭō·ḥă·nō·wṯ

כִּ֣י

kî

מִעֵ֔טוּ

mi·‘ê·ṭū,

､ וְחָשְׁכ֥וּ

wə·ḥā·šə·ḵū

and grow dim ､

הָרֹא֖וֹת

hā·rō·’ō·wṯ

those that look

. בָּאֲרֻבּֽוֹת׃

bā·’ă·rub·bō·wṯ.

through the windows .

וְסֻגְּר֤וּ

wə·sug·gə·rū

And when are shut

דְלָתַ֙יִם֙

ḏə·lā·ṯa·yim

､ בַּשּׁ֔וּק

baš·šūq,

in the streets ､

בִּשְׁפַ֖ל

biš·p̄al

and is low

ק֣וֹל

qō·wl

הַֽטַּחֲנָ֑ה

haṭ·ṭa·ḥă·nāh;

וְיָקוּם֙

wə·yā·qūm

and when one rises up

לְק֣וֹל

lə·qō·wl

at the sound

､ הַצִּפּ֔וֹר

haṣ·ṣip·pō·wr,

of a bird ､

– וְיִשַּׁ֖חוּ

wə·yiš·ša·ḥū

and are brought low –

כָּל־

kāl-

בְּנ֥וֹת

bə·nō·wṯ

. הַשִּֽׁיר׃

haš·šîr.

of music .

גַּ֣ם

gam

､ מִגָּבֹ֤הַּ

mig·gā·ḇō·ah

of height ､

יִרָ֙אוּ֙

yi·rā·’ū

they are afraid

וְחַתְחַתִּ֣ים

wə·ḥaṯ·ḥat·tîm

and of terrors

､ בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ

bad·de·reḵ,

in the way ､

､ וְיָנֵ֤אץ

wə·yā·nêṣ

and when blossoms ､

הַשָּׁקֵד֙

haš·šā·qêḏ

the almond tree

､ וְיִסְתַּבֵּ֣ל

wə·yis·tab·bêl

and is a burden ､

הֶֽחָגָ֔ב

he·ḥā·ḡāḇ,

the grasshopper

. וְתָפֵ֖ר

wə·ṯā·p̄êr

and fails .

הָֽאֲבִיּוֹנָ֑ה

hā·’ă·ḇî·yō·w·nāh;

כִּֽי־

kî-

הֹלֵ֤ךְ

hō·lêḵ

הָאָדָם֙

hā·’ā·ḏām

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ בֵּ֣ית

bêṯ

home ､

עוֹלָמ֔וֹ

‘ō·w·lā·mōw,

וְסָבְב֥וּ

wə·sā·ḇə·ḇū

and go

בָשּׁ֖וּק‪‬‪‬‪‬

ḇaš·šūq

about the streets

. הַסֹּפְדִֽים׃

has·sō·p̄ə·ḏîm.

עַ֣ד

‘aḏ

Or

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

[Remember your Creator] before

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

[ירחק]

yi·r·ḥaq

､ (יֵרָתֵק֙)

yê·rā·ṯêq

is loosed ､

חֶ֣בֶל

ḥe·ḇel

הַכֶּ֔סֶף

hak·ke·sep̄,

､ וְתָרֻ֖ץ

wə·ṯā·ruṣ

Or is broken ､

גֻּלַּ֣ת

gul·laṯ

הַזָּהָ֑ב

haz·zā·hāḇ;

וְתִשָּׁ֤בֶר

wə·ṯiš·šā·ḇer

כַּד֙

kaḏ

עַל־

‘al-

at

､ הַמַּבּ֔וּעַ

ham·mab·bū·a‘,

the fountain ､

וְנָרֹ֥ץ

wə·nā·rōṣ

הַגַּלְגַּ֖ל

hag·gal·gal

אֶל־

’el-

at

. הַבּֽוֹר׃

hab·bō·wr.

the well .

וְיָשֹׁ֧ב

wə·yā·šōḇ

And will return

הֶעָפָ֛ר

he·‘ā·p̄ār

the dust

עַל־

‘al-

to

הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

– כְּשֶׁהָיָ֑ה

kə·še·hā·yāh;

as it was –

וְהָר֣וּחַ

wə·hā·rū·aḥ

and the spirit

תָּשׁ֔וּב

tā·šūḇ,

אֶל־

’el-

to

הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

. נְתָנָֽהּ׃

nə·ṯā·nāh.

gave it .

הֲבֵ֧ל

hă·ḇêl

､ הֲבָלִ֛ים

hă·ḇā·lîm

of vanities ､

אָמַ֥ר

’ā·mar

– הַקּוֹהֶ֖לֶת

haq·qō·w·he·leṯ

the Teacher –

הַכֹּ֥ל

hak·kōl

. הָֽבֶל׃

hā·ḇel.

[is] vanity .

The Fear of God is Utmost

､ וְיֹתֵ֕ר

wə·yō·ṯêr

And moreover ､

שֶׁהָיָ֥ה

še·hā·yāh

קֹהֶ֖לֶת

qō·he·leṯ

､ חָכָ֑ם

ḥā·ḵām;

wise ､

ע֗וֹד

‘ō·wḏ,

לִמַּד־

lim·maḏ-

– דַּ֙עַת֙

da·‘aṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הָעָ֔ם

hā·‘ām,

､ וְאִזֵּ֣ן

wə·’iz·zên

and yes he pondered ､

､ וְחִקֵּ֔ר

wə·ḥiq·qêr,

and sought out ､

תִּקֵּ֖ן

tiq·qên

[and] set in order

מְשָׁלִ֥ים

mə·šā·lîm

. הַרְבֵּֽה׃

har·bêh.

בִּקֵּ֣שׁ

biq·qêš

קֹהֶ֔לֶת

qō·he·leṯ,

לִמְצֹ֖א

lim·ṣō

– דִּבְרֵי־

diḇ·rê-

חֵ֑פֶץ

ḥê·p̄eṣ;

וְכָת֥וּב

wə·ḵā·ṯūḇ

and [what was] written

､ יֹ֖שֶׁר

yō·šer

[was] upright ､

דִּבְרֵ֥י

diḇ·rê

. אֱמֶֽת׃

’ĕ·meṯ.

of truth .

דִּבְרֵ֤י

diḇ·rê

חֲכָמִים֙

ḥă·ḵā·mîm

of the wise

､ כַּדָּ֣רְבֹנ֔וֹת

kad·dā·rə·ḇō·nō·wṯ,

are like goads ､

וּֽכְמַשְׂמְר֥וֹת

ū·ḵə·maś·mə·rō·wṯ

and are like nails

נְטוּעִ֖ים

nə·ṭū·‘îm

בַּעֲלֵ֣י

ba·‘ă·lê

､ אֲסֻפּ֑וֹת

’ă·sup·pō·wṯ;

of scholars ､

נִתְּנ֖וּ

nit·tə·nū

מֵרֹעֶ֥ה

mê·rō·‘eh

. אֶחָֽד׃

’e·ḥāḏ.

､ וְיֹתֵ֥ר

wə·yō·ṯêr

And further ､

､ מֵהֵ֖מָּה

mê·hêm·māh

by those ､

､ בְּנִ֣י

bə·nî

my son ､

– הִזָּהֵ֑ר

hiz·zā·hêr;

be admonished –

עֲשׂ֨וֹת

‘ă·śō·wṯ

סְפָרִ֤ים

sə·p̄ā·rîm

הַרְבֵּה֙

har·bêh

אֵ֣ין

’ên

[there is] no

– קֵ֔ץ

qêṣ,

end –

וְלַ֥הַג

wə·la·haḡ

הַרְבֵּ֖ה

har·bêh

יְגִעַ֥ת

yə·ḡi·‘aṯ

[is] wearisome to

. בָּשָֽׂר׃

bā·śār.

the flesh .

ס֥וֹף

sō·wp̄

– דָּבָ֖ר

dā·ḇār

of matter –

הַכֹּ֣ל

hak·kōl

נִשְׁמָ֑ע

niš·mā‘;

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הָאֱלֹהִ֤ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm

God ､

יְרָא֙

yə·rā

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ מִצְוֺתָ֣יו

miṣ·wō·ṯāw

His commandments ､

שְׁמ֔וֹר

šə·mō·wr,

כִּי־

kî-

זֶ֖ה

zeh

this [is]

כָּל־

kāl-

. הָאָדָֽם׃

hā·’ā·ḏām.

כִּ֤י

kî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כָּל־

kāl-

מַֽעֲשֶׂ֔ה

ma·‘ă·śeh,

הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm

יָבִ֥א

yā·ḇi

will bring

､ בְמִשְׁפָּ֖ט

ḇə·miš·pāṭ

into judgment ､

עַ֣ל

‘al

כָּל־

kāl-

､ נֶעְלָ֑ם

ne‘·lām;

secret thing ､

אִם־

’im-

､ ט֖וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

good ､

וְאִם־

wə·’im-

or

. רָֽע׃

rā‘.
