וַיְהִ֥י

And came

דְבַר־

the word

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

אֵלַ֥י

’ê·lay

to me

､ לֵאמֹֽר׃

lê·mōr.

בֶּן־

ben-

､ אָדָ֕ם

’ā·ḏām

of man ､

הִנָּבֵ֛א

hin·nā·ḇê

אֶל־

’el-

נְבִיאֵ֥י

nə·ḇî·’ê

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

､ הַנִּבָּאִ֑ים

han·nib·bā·’îm;

who prophesy ､

וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֙

wə·’ā·mar·tā

and say

לִנְבִיאֵ֣י

lin·ḇî·’ê

to those who prophesy

､ מִלִּבָּ֔ם

mil·lib·bām,

out of their own heart ､

שִׁמְע֖וּ

šim·‘ū

דְּבַר־

də·ḇar-

the word

– יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

of Yahweh –

אֲדֹנָ֣י

the Lord

､ הַנְּבִיאִ֣ים

the prophets ､

הַנְּבָלִ֑ים

han·nə·ḇā·lîm;

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

הֹלְכִ֛ים

hō·lə·ḵîm

אַחַ֥ר

’a·ḥar

､ רוּחָ֖ם

rū·ḥām

their own spirit ､

! וּלְבִלְתִּ֥י

ū·lə·ḇil·tî

. רָאֽוּ׃

rā·’ū.

כְּשֻׁעָלִ֖ים

kə·šu·‘ā·lîm

. בָּחֳרָב֑וֹת

bā·ḥo·rā·ḇō·wṯ;

נְבִיאֶ֥יךָ

nə·ḇî·’e·ḵā

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

. הָיֽוּ׃

לֹ֤א

Not

עֲלִיתֶם֙

‘ă·lî·ṯem

You have gone up

､ בַּפְּרָצ֔וֹת

bap·pə·rā·ṣō·wṯ,

into the gaps ､

וַתִּגְדְּר֥וּ

wat·tiḡ·də·rū

and to build

גָדֵ֖ר

ḡā·ḏêr

עַל־

‘al-

בֵּ֣ית

bêṯ

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

לַעֲמֹ֥ד

la·‘ă·mōḏ

בַּמִּלְחָמָ֖ה

bam·mil·ḥā·māh

בְּי֥וֹם

bə·yō·wm

on the day

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

חָ֤זוּ

ḥā·zū

They have envisioned

שָׁוְא֙

šāw

､ וְקֶ֣סֶם

wə·qe·sem

and divination ､

כָּזָ֔ב

kā·zāḇ,

､ הָאֹֽמְרִים֙

hā·’ō·mə·rîm

– נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

וַֽיהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

לֹ֣א

lō

not

שְׁלָחָ֑ם

šə·lā·ḥām;

וְיִֽחֲל֖וּ

wə·yi·ḥă·lū

and yet they hope

לְקַיֵּ֥ם

lə·qay·yêm

that may be confirmed

a vision ､

שָׁוְא֙

and divination ､

כָּזָ֖ב

kā·zāḇ

؟ אֲמַרְתֶּ֑ם

’ă·mar·tem;

have you not spoken ؟

וְאֹֽמְרִים֙

wə·’ō·mə·rîm

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

וַאֲנִ֖י

wa·’ă·nî

but I

לֹ֥א

not

. דִבַּֽרְתִּי׃

דַּבֶּרְכֶ֣ם

dab·ber·ḵem

you have spoken

､ שָׁ֔וְא

šāw,

וַחֲזִיתֶ֖ם

wa·ḥă·zî·ṯem

､ כָּזָ֑ב

kā·zāḇ;

lies ､

､ לָכֵן֙

lā·ḵên

הִנְנִ֣י

hin·nî

I [am] indeed

אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם

’ă·lê·ḵem,

נְאֻ֖ם

nə·’um

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

. יְהוִֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְהָיְתָ֣ה

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

And will be

יָדִ֗י

yā·ḏî,

אֶֽל־

’el-

הַנְּבִיאִ֞ים

han·nə·ḇî·’îm

הַחֹזִ֣ים

ha·ḥō·zîm

､ שָׁוְא֮

šāw

וְהַקֹּסְמִ֣ים

wə·haq·qō·sə·mîm

– כָּזָב֒

kā·zāḇ

lies –

בְּס֧וֹד

bə·sō·wḏ

in the assembly

､ עַמִּ֣י

‘am·mî

of My people ､

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

יִהְי֗וּ

yih·yū,

וּבִכְתָ֤ב

ū·ḇiḵ·ṯāḇ

and in the record

בֵּֽית־

bêṯ-

of the house

､ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

of Israel ､

לֹ֣א

lō

יִכָּתֵ֔בוּ

yik·kā·ṯê·ḇū,

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

and into

אַדְמַ֥ת

’aḏ·maṯ

the land

– יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

of Israel –

לֹ֣א

lō

יָבֹ֑אוּ

yā·ḇō·’ū;

shall they enter

וִידַעְתֶּ֕ם

wî·ḏa‘·tem

then you shall know

כִּ֥י

kî

אֲנִ֖י

’ă·nî

I [am]

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

. יְהוִֽה׃

Yah·weh.

､ יַ֣עַן

ya·‘an

וּבְיַ֜עַן

ū·ḇə·ya·‘an

and indeed because

הִטְע֧וּ

hiṭ·‘ū

they have seduced

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ עַמִּ֛י

‘am·mî

My people ､

､ לֵאמֹ֥ר

lê·mōr

– שָׁל֖וֹם

šā·lō·wm

וְאֵ֣ין

wə·’ên

and when no

– שָׁל֑וֹם

šā·lō·wm;

[there is] peace –

וְהוּא֙

wə·hū

and he

בֹּ֣נֶה

bō·neh

､ חַ֔יִץ

ḥa·yiṣ,

a wall ､

､ וְהִנָּ֛ם

wə·hin·nām

and ､

טָחִ֥ים

ṭā·ḥîm

אֹת֖וֹ

’ō·ṯōw

it

. תָּפֵֽל׃

tā·p̄êl.

with untempered [mortar] .

אֱמֹ֛ר

’ĕ·mōr

אֶל־

’el-

to

טָחֵ֥י

ṭā·ḥê

those who plaster [it]

תָפֵ֖ל

ṯā·p̄êl

with untempered [mortar]

. וְיִפֹּ֑ל

wə·yip·pōl;

that it will fall .

הָיָ֣ה ׀

hā·yāh

There will be

– גֶּ֣שֶׁם

ge·šem

rain –

שׁוֹטֵ֗ף

šō·w·ṭêp̄,

､ וְאַתֵּ֜נָה

wə·’at·tê·nāh

and you ､

אַבְנֵ֤י

’aḇ·nê

אֶלְגָּבִישׁ֙

’el·gā·ḇîš

– תִּפֹּ֔לְנָה

tip·pō·lə·nāh,

וְר֥וּחַ

wə·rū·aḥ

and a wind

סְעָר֖וֹת

sə·‘ā·rō·wṯ

. תְּבַקֵּֽעַ׃

tə·ḇaq·qê·a‘.

shall tear [it] down .

､ וְהִנֵּ֖ה

wə·hin·nêh

And when surely ､

､ נָפַ֣ל

nā·p̄al

הַקִּ֑יר

haq·qîr;

the wall

הֲלוֹא֙

hă·lō·w

will not

יֵאָמֵ֣ר

yê·’ā·mêr

it be said

אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם

’ă·lê·ḵem,

to you

אַיֵּ֥ה

’ay·yêh

where [is]

הַטִּ֖יחַ

haṭ·ṭî·aḥ

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

with which

. טַחְתֶּֽם׃

ṭaḥ·tem.

you plastered [it] .

כֹּ֤ה

אָמַר֙

’ā·mar

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

– יְהוִ֔ה

Yah·weh,

GOD –

וּבִקַּעְתִּ֥י

ū·ḇiq·qa‘·tî

and I will cause to break forth

רֽוּחַ־

rū·aḥ-

סְעָר֖וֹת

sə·‘ā·rō·wṯ

– בַּֽחֲמָתִ֑י

ba·ḥă·mā·ṯî;

in My fury –

וְגֶ֤שֶׁם

wə·ḡe·šem

and a rain

שֹׁטֵף֙

šō·ṭêp̄

､ בְּאַפִּ֣י

bə·’ap·pî

in My anger ､

יִֽהְיֶ֔ה

yih·yeh,

וְאַבְנֵ֥י

wə·’aḇ·nê

אֶלְגָּבִ֖ישׁ

’el·gā·ḇîš

בְּחֵמָ֥ה

bə·ḥê·māh

. לְכָלָֽה׃

lə·ḵā·lāh.

to consume [it] .

וְהָ֨רַסְתִּ֜י

wə·hā·ras·tî

So I will break down

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַקִּ֨יר

haq·qîr

the wall

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

טַחְתֶּ֥ם

ṭaḥ·tem

you have plastered

תָּפֵ֛ל

tā·p̄êl

with untempered [mortar]

וְהִגַּעְתִּ֥יהוּ

wə·hig·ga‘·tî·hū

and bring it down

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

the ground ､

､ וְנִגְלָ֣ה

wə·niḡ·lāh

so that will be uncovered ､

יְסֹד֑וֹ

yə·sō·ḏōw;

､ וְנָֽפְלָה֙

wə·nā·p̄ə·lāh

and it will fall ､

וּכְלִיתֶ֣ם

ū·ḵə·lî·ṯem

and you shall be consumed

בְּתוֹכָ֔הּ

bə·ṯō·w·ḵāh,

in the midst of it

וִֽידַעְתֶּ֖ם

wî·ḏa‘·tem

then you shall know

כִּֽי־

kî-

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I [am]

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְכִלֵּיתִ֤י

wə·ḵil·lê·ṯî

Thus will I accomplish

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

חֲמָתִי֙

ḥă·mā·ṯî

､ בַּקִּ֔יר

baq·qîr,

on the wall ､

וּבַטָּחִ֥ים

ū·ḇaṭ·ṭā·ḥîm

and on those who have plastered

אֹת֖וֹ

’ō·ṯōw

it

תָּפֵ֑ל

tā·p̄êl;

with untempered [mortar]

וְאֹמַ֤ר

wə·’ō·mar

and I will say

לָכֶם֙

lā·ḵem

to you

אֵ֣ין

’ên

[is] no [more]

הַקִּ֔יר

haq·qîr,

the wall

וְאֵ֖ין

wə·’ên

and [are] no [more]

הַטָּחִ֥ים

haṭ·ṭā·ḥîm

those who plastered

. אֹתֽוֹ׃

’ō·ṯōw.

it .

נְבִיאֵ֣י

nə·ḇî·’ê

[that is] the prophets

יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

הַֽנִבְּאִים֙‪‬

ha·nib·bə·’îm

אֶל־

’el-

､ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם

yə·rū·šā·lim,

וְהַחֹזִ֥ים

wə·ha·ḥō·zîm

לָ֖הּ

lāh

חֲז֣וֹן

ḥă·zō·wn

שָׁלֹ֑ם

šā·lōm;

וְאֵ֣ין

wə·’ên

and when no

､ שָׁלֹ֔ם

šā·lōm,

[there is] peace ､

נְאֻ֖ם

nə·’um

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

. יְהֹוִֽה׃

Yah·weh.

And Likewise you

בֶן־

ḇen-

､ אָדָ֗ם

’ā·ḏām,

of man ､

שִׂ֤ים

śîm

פָּנֶ֙יךָ֙

pā·ne·ḵā

אֶל־

’el-

בְּנ֣וֹת

bə·nō·wṯ

､ עַמְּךָ֔

‘am·mə·ḵā,

of your people ､

הַמִּֽתְנַבְּא֖וֹת

ham·miṯ·nab·bə·’ō·wṯ

– מִֽלִּבְּהֶ֑ן

mil·lib·bə·hen;

out of their own heart –

וְהִנָּבֵ֖א

wə·hin·nā·ḇê

. עֲלֵיהֶֽן׃

‘ă·lê·hen.

､ וְאָמַרְתָּ֞

wə·’ā·mar·tā

And say ､

כֹּה־

kōh-

אָמַ֣ר ׀

’ā·mar

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

– יְהוִ֗ה

Yah·weh

GOD –

הוֹי֩

hō·w

לִֽמְתַפְּר֨וֹת

lim·ṯap·pə·rō·wṯ

to the [women] who sew

כְּסָת֜וֹת

kə·sā·ṯō·wṯ

עַ֣ל ׀

‘al

on

כָּל־

kāl-

אַצִּילֵ֣י

’aṣ·ṣî·lê

､ יָדַ֗י

yā·ḏay,

their sleeves ､

וְעֹשׂ֧וֹת

wə·‘ō·śō·wṯ

and make

הַמִּסְפָּח֛וֹת

ham·mis·pā·ḥō·wṯ

עַל־

‘al-

רֹ֥אשׁ

rōš

the heads of [people]

כָּל־

kāl-

קוֹמָ֖ה

qō·w·māh

לְצוֹדֵ֣ד

lə·ṣō·w·ḏêḏ

! נְפָשׁ֑וֹת

nə·p̄ā·šō·wṯ;

הַנְּפָשׁוֹת֙

han·nə·p̄ā·šō·wṯ

תְּצוֹדֵ֣דְנָה

tə·ṣō·w·ḏê·ḏə·nāh

､ לְעַמִּ֔י

lə·‘am·mî,

of My people ､

וּנְפָשׁ֖וֹת

ū·nə·p̄ā·šō·wṯ

and

לָכֶ֥נָה

lā·ḵe·nāh

. תְחַיֶּֽינָה׃

ṯə·ḥay·ye·nāh.

וַתְּחַלֶּלְ֨נָה‪‬

wat·tə·ḥal·lel·nāh

And will you profane

אֹתִ֜י

’ō·ṯî

Me

אֶל־

’el-

עַמִּ֗י

‘am·mî,

בְּשַׁעֲלֵ֣י

bə·ša·‘ă·lê

שְׂעֹרִים֮

śə·‘ō·rîm

וּבִפְת֣וֹתֵי

ū·ḇip̄·ṯō·w·ṯê

､ לֶחֶם֒

le·ḥem

of bread ､

לְהָמִ֤ית

lə·hā·mîṯ

נְפָשׁוֹת֙

nə·p̄ā·šō·wṯ

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

､ תְמוּתֶ֔נָה

ṯə·mū·ṯe·nāh,

וּלְחַיּ֥וֹת

ū·lə·ḥay·yō·wṯ

and keeping alive

נְפָשׁ֖וֹת

nə·p̄ā·šō·wṯ

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

לֹא־

lō-

not

､ תִֽחְיֶ֑ינָה

ṯiḥ·ye·nāh;

should live ､

בְּכַ֨זֶּבְכֶ֔ם

bə·ḵaz·zeḇ·ḵem,

לְעַמִּ֖י

lə·‘am·mî

to My people

שֹׁמְעֵ֥י

šō·mə·‘ê

؟ כָזָֽב׃

ḵā·zāḇ.

אָמַ֣ר ׀

the Lord

GOD –

הִנְנִ֤י

hin·nî

behold I [am]

אֶל־

’el-

､ כִּסְּתוֹתֵיכֶ֙נָה֙

kis·sə·ṯō·w·ṯê·ḵe·nāh

your [magic] charms ､

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

אַ֠תֵּנָה

’at·tê·nāh

מְצֹדְד֨וֹת

mə·ṣō·ḏə·ḏō·wṯ

שָׁ֤ם

šām

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַנְּפָשׁוֹת֙

han·nə·p̄ā·šō·wṯ

､ לְפֹ֣רְח֔וֹת

lə·p̄ō·rə·ḥō·wṯ,

וְקָרַעְתִּ֣י

wə·qā·ra‘·tî

and I will tear

אֹתָ֔ם

’ō·ṯām,

מֵעַ֖ל

mê·‘al

､ זְרוֹעֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם

zə·rō·w·‘ō·ṯê·ḵem;

וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי֙

wə·šil·laḥ·tî

and let go

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַנְּפָשׁ֔וֹת

han·nə·p̄ā·šō·wṯ,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

אַתֶּ֛ם

’at·tem

מְצֹדְד֥וֹת

mə·ṣō·ḏə·ḏō·wṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

נְפָשִׁ֖ים

nə·p̄ā·šîm

. לְפֹרְחֹֽת׃

lə·p̄ō·rə·ḥōṯ.

､ וְקָרַעְתִּ֞י

wə·qā·ra‘·tî

And I will tear off ､

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

מִסְפְּחֹֽתֵיכֶ֗ם

mis·pə·ḥō·ṯê·ḵem,

וְהִצַּלְתִּ֤י

wə·hiṣ·ṣal·tî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

עַמִּי֙

‘am·mî

､ מִיֶּדְכֶ֔ן

mî·yeḏ·ḵen,

out of your hand ､

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

and no

יִהְי֥וּ

yih·yū

ע֛וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

בְּיֶדְכֶ֖ן

bə·yeḏ·ḵen

– לִמְצוּדָ֑ה

lim·ṣū·ḏāh;

as prey –

וִֽידַעְתֶּ֖ן

wî·ḏa‘·ten

then you shall know

כִּֽי־

kî-

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I [am]

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

יַ֣עַן

ya·‘an

､ הַכְא֤וֹת

haḵ·’ō·wṯ

you have made sad ､

לֵב־

lêḇ-

צַדִּיק֙

ṣad·dîq

of the righteous

שֶׁ֔קֶר

še·qer,

with lies

וַאֲנִ֖י

wa·’ă·nî

and I

לֹ֣א

lō

not

– הִכְאַבְתִּ֑יו

hiḵ·’aḇ·tîw;

have made him sad –

וּלְחַזֵּק֙

ū·lə·ḥaz·zêq

and you have strengthened

יְדֵ֣י

yə·ḏê

רָשָׁ֔ע

rā·šā‘,

of the wicked

לְבִלְתִּי־

lə·ḇil·tî-

so that not

שׁ֛וּב

šūḇ

מִדַּרְכּ֥וֹ

mid·dar·kōw

､ הָרָ֖ע

hā·rā‘

– לְהַחֲיֹתֽוֹ׃

lə·ha·ḥă·yō·ṯōw.

to save his life –

לָכֵ֗ן

lā·ḵên,

､ שָׁ֚וְא

and futility ､

לֹ֣א

lō

no

תֶחֱזֶ֔ינָה

ṯe·ḥĕ·ze·nāh,

you shall envision

､ וְקֶ֖סֶם

wə·qe·sem

and divination ､

לֹא־

lō-

תִקְסַ֣מְנָה

ṯiq·sam·nāh

ע֑וֹד

‘ō·wḏ;

וְהִצַּלְתִּ֤י

wə·hiṣ·ṣal·tî

for I will deliver

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

עַמִּי֙

‘am·mî

. מִיֶּדְכֶ֔ן

mî·yeḏ·ḵen,

out of your hand .

וִֽידַעְתֶּ֖ן

wî·ḏa‘·ten

And you shall know

כִּֽי־

kî-

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I [am]

. יְהוָֽה׃
